  1. I clicked "other" I was going to vote Liberal, but I dunno now. I might not vote at all, or spoil the paper or something. I think Kennedy has been very lacklustre, not really "selling" and what he has concentrated on is not altogether appealing (though still the "least bad" of the 3 main parties). Strewth it's depressing, all this stuff....
  2. I have changed my mind on standing. I used to be dead against it (npi), but given the behaviour of some stewards at matches, particularly this season (I'm talking away games) I am now in favour. Basically, the way I see it the Stadium licensing Authority is getting much stricter (loss of common sense) because they are treatened with being disbanded - it's a gravy train thing. Ideally all seaters, with a relaxed, atmosphere towards some standing some of the time is fine. All seaters where you have fans standing permanently to make a point and stewards enforcing constant seated or get thrown out is just not condusive to safe arenas. The West Ham fans who started this SUSD campaign have a sort of e mail distribution list, and I have happily passed on contact details ( nothing private) for the fanzine to them, where before I would have never even signed their petitiion, Basically fans are being ullied by zealous quango people so that the quango people can stay in their cushy jobs It's got naff all to do with safety, the "clampdown"
  3. Norwich I quite like, and haven't got ow't against the yam yams either. Palace I dislike enormously, always have and Southampton have a knobhead as a chairman, a bit like a younger Ellis in some respects. So that's southern shandy drinkers out, carrot and faggitz un pays munchers to stay. .
  4. Ahem, It has been mentioned/clarified as far back as the first page that it is for first team last season and this only. Doesn't mean Oaks's views on SD are any less valid, but it does kind of negate the "No f' ing mention of "first team" point a tad. I would imagine Stevie will romp the young player poll.
  5. Gareth Barry for me, just, from Nobby. Both were disappointing last season, for whatever reason (whereas the rest of the candidates to choose from weren't). But the biggest improvement has been in the return to form of GB. I'm not saying this because he scored 2 on Saturday, I've been saying it ever since he came back from the injury he got from Lauren at Arsenal away. Lee Hendrie and Nobby have also had good seasons and Mark Delaney has done well too, with Lee having maintained good form rather than improved, Nobby being a different prospect away than at home and MD having spent a time injured, as has Gav. So Gareth Barry then.
  6. Eh?. Do you mean being kicked off the board after a lot of trouble (EGMs etc.) in a case of basically either Saunders goes or Ellis goes? and then selling his shares becasue he lost? Respect for having to be thrown out for Villa to succeed? Give over. As for the minutes silence, I'll wait till it's finished I think, like a lot of others have said.
  7. Yes, but he has a lot to learn and a degree of improvement to make.
  8. Sid, just, from Brian. Dunno if they're still available, but some people wrote a kind of homage to their cult heroes on here maybe 18 months or 2 years ago. - the greatest Villan I think it was called. I did one on Sid, and others did fine ones on the Lord McGrath, Saint Brian, and Sir Dennis, etc.
  9. I just voted NO The phrase "you must be f'ing joking" came to mind. I did it once, "a good bet in the short medium and long term" they said. Lying b*stards. I'll pay to watch the games, but that's it while Ellis is there. He made himself about 4 million quid at the last share issue. I wonder if he had any vested interest in going ahead with it? He's leeching the club, but he's not going to leech of me again. If he went, then Villa would get a lot more of my money, and I suspect I'm not the only one that feels that way
  10. Cricket is best. Cricket is as good as Owls are. Using the tree scale of "0 to very good indeed" (where an Owl perches on the branch marked "definitely best"), but with more beer and less feathers and dead voles n' that. So cricket is the clear winner.
  11. So let me get this straight - There would be uproar if Garthe Barry said the Club didn't need to invest and be ambitious, and that this is the "right thing to say. But when Doug Ellis does exactly that, not just in word but by deed, there shouldn't be uproar? And when anyone holds up cards or banners before a game (when the team is in the dressing room) it isn't supporting the team on the pitch, even though they put them down before the whistle,(when the players come out onto the pitch? Yep, there's something that's puzzling me about your arguments, 1982. You see they're just a teensy weensy bit contradictary

    If....

What's the problem with him going on Holiday - he's permanently "out to lunch" anyway? The less time he is at VP the better. If he's decided we are not going to spend on players, then in matters not that he is away. If he has authorised a signing then again , better he is well out of the way Bruce is a more capable and alert person to have running the club full stop. Mind you it makes a good question for the AGM, and Ellis's wages. 5 grand a week!

    Villa managers

BFR and BL won something (JG won the intertoto and lost the FA cup final). Silverware counts for a lot. But being able to walk on water means you win.

Brian Little walks on Water. What's the point of the other names on the list?
  15. Fergie has the best record, but maybe past his prime period. Now he doesn't have a dominance financially over everyone else, the playing field is levellled a bit and he is looking less like the best as of today. Wenger has produced the most amazing football at times, and beaten Man U despite the money gap, but done now't in Europe. Morinho has had 6 months here and with as much money as he wants has produced a team that finished 2nd or 3rd into one that is well ahead. Chelsea will probably win the league, Arsenal probably finish 2nd. Dowie has been fantastic for Palace, Curbishley and Allardyce have done well on small budgets, and consistently so. This season Dowie is the best so far, then Morinho, then Wenger.
  16. Who is Blues best player? Eh?
  17. As JC says - Design excellent (especially the away kit). Quality poor. Apart from the reports of stripes falling off etc, the material is very poor quality too. easily snagged and bobbled.
  18. I had enough trouble getting Rooney on there, ahamaad. But good shout.
  19. Inspired by (well nicked from) Ligs' SPOTY thread, I thought I'd make one of those votery things. So who is your Sports Personality of the Year Poll to run till someone makes it go away, or we all get bored. Feck - 1 of the options went away - how do I get the scamp back? Rooney it was, for looking like a pub landlord and playing football quite well Edit by JC: Put Rooney back in for you
