  1. I think ‘brilliant’ is a bit over the top. Good to see him score but doubt he will see many if any minutes in the premier league. his overall game is way below where we need it to be if we are to be competitive this year. really could do with a long spell away from the club in a team competing in the championship to see if he can cut it.
  2. Tbh I can’t remember him really striking a ball too well, had some very timid shots in pre season. Hit the bar last game but even that was a slashed shot which lacked any composure after doing the first bit of skill well. I really don’t know what he offers. If he wasn’t Villa youth no one could argue he should be near the team.
  3. Just as I typed this he did some tidy skill and hit the bar lol...still not deserving of a match day squad.
  4. If he wasn’t a youth graduate Andre Green would be run out of town. Poor footballer at best. 3 games against weaker opposition and has done less than nothing of note. Thankfully we seem to have strengthened in this area.
  5. Seriously doubt his ability to be a striker - he has a very very tame shot on him as highlighted by his weak shots in the latest friendly. He is far from clinical and tbh lacks the ability to play PL in my eyes. The fact he has failed to register a decent performance in either Minnesota game or Shrewsbury highlights again to me the lack of quality he has and the fact he simply isn’t good enough for Premier League. As sad as it is as I’m sure we would all wish for our homegrown players to come good - I simply think he should be used as a makeweight in trying to bring in added depth to the wing positions. I.E possibly as part of some deal to bring in Benrahma from Brentford.
  6. Very much agree with this post. I love El ghazi but like you say I do feel he could can go large portions of a game where he struggles to make an impact. Green is kinda trash and has no business in the Premier League therefore we really do need to strengthen the wide positions as ball into the box were something we capitalised on very well least year. Also given that from the little I’ve seen of Wes on YouTube he does seem to have a talent for finishing off crosses with his head. hopefully we can address this and get the right player in
  7. When will we know about the away scheme this year?
  8. Can you raise the issue of away fans sitting in boxes in the trinity road. This is something that seriously p***ses me off. Time and time again they are up celebrating and goading home fans when they are in boxes designed for home support. Stewards do nothing, also same for fans sat in seats within the trinity road, I.e I’m sure if United, Liverpool etc score this season they will be up celebrating - the stewards do absolutely nothing. It should be zero policy if they celebrate kick them out! Ive raised this many times but nothing gets done.
  9. Without being disrespectful I find this statement baffling - his mom May be a lovely lady and he might be a great kid, but sentiment is the only reason he’s got a free pass as it is. Guaranteed if he was not a local lad and was from Newcastle say - he would be getting pelters from our fans. I wish everyone of our players well but there is simply nothing that he offers. Watch today’s game back and tell me what positives came from him. I actually think he hides from the ball and makes runs so that he isn’t passed the ball to. hes villa so I obviously want him to do well but the right hand side for us right now is tragic.
  10. May aswell be playing with 10 men - offers absolutely nothing . 45 mins to change our fortunes
  11. His job is to cross the ball - people aren’t gunna clap or get excited when he whacks it out of play, scuttles one along the floor and fails to beat first man. People are gunna groan when there are basic crosses he messes up
  12. No brainier to keep him if we can get the deal done - he’s the only decent winger we’ve got. He has shown he knows how to cross a ball unlike the filth which is produced on the other side. He has the ability to get the opposition defenders back peddling and isn’t afraid to beat his man down the wing.
  13. Wes Edens is on a podcast called Bloomberg Business of sport - talks about his ownership of Bucks but also touches on Aston Villa - he comes in around 19minute mark. He tripled his investment in Bucks since he and his partners have owned them - worth a listen. He mentions briefly about our ten game run.
  14. Good at shooting? He had one clean volley, from what I’ve seen he’s fairly poor. Scored a nice strike last year but more often than not his efforts are tame.
  15. Yet again his crossing yesterday was absolutely woeful - did really well to beat his man early on then put in a disgusting cross. I hate having to put a downer on things but really at this level must be a lot better. Granted AA has been poor also but I really have zero faith in AG. If you watch closely he started to move in field when Elmo had the ball as to go hiding as I feel he has zero confidence running with ball at his feet down the wings. Would have loved for his volley to go in as he really needs a confidence builder but I see nothing in him - Davies on the other hand brings a lot more to the party. Either way UTV
  16. People wanting him dropped or saying he’s out of out of form the guy missed a pen - everyone does. Played in a ten man team for large part of game was always gunna be tough for him. Sheff Wed a very tough game little of the ball works hard till last minute and helps salvage a cross and works hard to grab a goal which ensured we didn’t endure a nervous couple of minutes. Blackburn at home he was brilliant held the ball up we brought other into the game well. Its almost as if he goes a game without scoring people start getting in a wobble. The guy misses a few chances so do the best of them - he’s an EFL player he’s gunna miss chances but boy does he work hard and fights for every ball. He helps motivate the team and he is generally a huge influence on our players.
  17. Completely agree - I feet that if he can’t produce a decent/telling performance in a team oozing confidence against a Blackburn team with nothing to play for he won’t find it any easier when it comes down to the real crunch. Time and time again he has shown he is not willing/confident to beat his man and take the ball on the outside to the by-line. He always looks for the easier pass and cuts inside. In the second half yesterday we managed to free him up out wide for an opportunity to send in deliveries from promising positions. Time and time again he couldn’t beat the first man and if he did he sent the ball sailing out of play. Whether he is 20 years of age or a seasoned pro I would expect more from a Sunday league player. We have shown over the season that we are a team who scores a lot of goals from sending crosses in from out wide hence why it is so frustrating to see the filth that AG displays when crossing as these are real opportunities to score from. AG only has to look at Tammy yesterday - on a couple of occasions he really drove at the defence on the outside and showed pace and power and had the defenders back peddling. I just wish AG would show some of the same intent. People try to make the excuse for AG about his age but at present we can’t afford to be carrying passengers. we are getting away with it for the time being but should we get to the POs we need to be on our game.
  18. Wednesday are done. All they can play for now is so Bruce can beat us. Goal difference is worth an extra point and theirs is -3.
  19. Thought he played very well today and looked lively. Think he brought other players into he game very well. Excellent football brain for the second too.
  20. Agreed, there was a moment in the second half in front of the Holte where I was screaming for him to take it past the defender on the outside and drive to the byline yet he just cut in and played the safe easy 5 yard pass. Clearly little confidence and belief.
  21. Hate to be a Debbie downer on such a good performance/result but I thought Greene was garbage today for the most part. Weve got the makings of a really strong team now and for the run in its vital that we’re not carrying anyone but I think his level of play is below par. Whilst we are winning do we change the team? But in the long run he is nowhere near good enough. Personally if we can get JK fired up and willing to do the work defensively I’d have him in.
  22. Possibly yeah - was convinced he would be forced off at half time in truth. I thought he had broken his collar bone tbh the way he reacted to the fall - talking from experience of breaking it 3 times not a pleasant injury. Fortunately he seems ok.
  23. I’d actually question his pace. The ball was played over the top yesterday and he was in chase with defender. Looked average to me. Was slightly dissapointed that he couldn’t get clear.
