Did our predicament really change when we lost Wesley? Surely a striker was top of the list this window anyway given Wesley's lack of goals and contribution! Completely agree about a keeper though.

Exactly why would they? Money talks these days and outside of maybe Manure and Liverpool I doubt any team has serious pull on reputation alone! Edit to add any PL team I mean.

We are not a big club anymore why would anyone want to come to a club that has spent the last couple of years in the second tier and now after gaining promotion via the back door is on the verge of relegation battle? We now quite rightly have a model we intend to stick to regarding recruitment and wages what do we have to attract quality players? We are the new Leicester only without as much money and not as good a scouting/recruitment team.

I do (a lot) and Smith has regained my confidence in him by changing things, despite our position and the battle ahead I'm a happy Villa fan right now it was always going to be a fight for 17th in the league.

To be fair I don't think he has ever pulled off a lovely pass? He is very good at breaking up play and putting a foot in maybe playing Drunkwater next to him so he can collect the ball and do the fancy stuff is the answer.

Signing Benteke would be like signing Wesley again but without the fantastic 1 in 4.2 goal return.

Luiz does have potential he is still learning but is raw, 3 years from now I think he will be a decent player. 3 years from now Wesley will still be Shite I reckon he could do OK in a slower league at a mediocre team Unfortunately I think we have him on a 5 yr contract!

Whilst I do agree in as much as I'm a little not particularly impressed with the summer recruitment overall, you have to remember it was a massive overhaul and it may have been a massive budget but the volume of players that came in was huge and they average out at something like 11mil a player, our squad worth is still only 18th in the PL!

Unfortunately I have to agree case of damage limitation this one, bring Drunkwater in for Luiz and definitely play a back 3, rather see Guilbert left and Elmo right if Targett is still injured, Taylor should be cleaning the gym back in BMH!
