    After watching todays match, It’s safe to say, Douglas Luiz is 100% an 8. He’s a different kind to a McGinn and JJ, but probably more suiting to what we need right now.. someone who can drop back and defend when needed, but has the ability to get the ball forward. if we don’t sign anyone else for CM, I’d be content to give Doug a new deal

    Na it’s no one’s fault, but the person who green lighted the move… Danny is a good Egg and a professional personality… it’s just meh, his form dropped off massively. Also meh he can’t work with Watkins and another meh, he’s not mobile enough to be a lone striker. He’s completely the wrong fit for us. Worst yet, I can’t see anyone coming in for him. Maybe Brighton if we lucky… I’m seeing this as a running out his contract here. what’s frustrating for Villa and probably Watkins too

    Exactly, I’d say trying to fit him to our squad and match day team, was a major catalyst to some of our poor preferences last season… 2 up top just couldn’t work, he was hampered and so was Watkins. And so was the rest of the team

    Ings last season was a pale shadow of his former self, and this preseason he’s a pale shadow of that. what a stupid panic buy he was. if any offer comes in for him, we should snatch at it

    I’m liking the the look of boubs at 6 and Doug and John at the two 8s and beundia as our 10… But I would like to see JJ playing instead of John in the next preseason game.

    I agree, I think out midfield is more flexible and robust when it’s boubs, Doug, John and Emi

    Dare I say, I’m liking the look of the boubs, Doug, John and Emi midfield. it’s has everything we need. Add phil and Leon to the wings and Watkins up top, we may just alright

    How we played against Brisbane was awful. This was exactly the same, but against better opponents… what was our squad doing on the training pitch? Have they worked on anything? We are playing the exact same football as we were last season… we still can’t pass, we still inviting teams to attack our open defences and if we win the ball we counter with slow play or give the ball away with a shocking pass… we play with 2 up top, neither of them see much of the ball and if they do, they are swamped by defenders, because how we play is so signposted it’s on google maps.

    Can someone tell me the philosophy to Villa’s play? No press, and invite them on, to our open defence and if we win the ball we hit them on the counter of our slow build up what is this football??

    this is my second preseason game. so far, I haven’t seen any improvement. We could have the best players in the world and we’d still be awful.. this system Villa play is horrendous… it’s neither defensive or attacking. It’s just clueless.

    What would happen if a penalty shootout never ended? Like every goal is matches and every miss is matched. Will they continue throughout the night or will they take sleep breaks and and continue in the morning, what if it goes on for weeks or months or even years, will games get delayed because of this, and if this delay over lapped transfer windows, could teams sell players who are currently playing in the penalty shootout and could they buy replacements if that happens? it’s a slim chance but any penalty shootout could end up as an infinity shootout. It’s almost terrifying

    How does everyone feel about the colour of our away kits? Should they be the same colour each season or different? myself, I always feel our away kit should always be white.. the third kid should always be the random one.. just have fun designing the third kit

    You think there will not be any offers this window? Why? Waiting it out is risky af. If he’s the prospect the world think he is, then then a waiting is nothing but a risk.. if he’s waiting it out to get the offer he wants from the club he wants, as you said that could backfire… so, if offers come in this window, all parties involved will negotiate and, and I’d suspect reach an agreement. Maybe less than everyone wanted, but it keeps the Carney train going. And villa get some cash
