Also if he received the ball on the half turn he sees the potential danger quicker. The face he’s not on the half turn compounds the problem.

We’ve had to build a squad for survival and then build for consolidation and now the next process is going to be the hardest which is to get top half and subsequently Europe. But unlike other teams we’ve done it in a much shorter time scale. Had we waited a few seasons to consolidate further we probably miss out on Emery.

Carragher said something interesting about the pitch being too big for him. That’s why I think he’d be okay as a second striker or in the old Pirlo role when he reinvented himself into a deep lying playmaker.

To create chances you need movement ahead of you. The only movement seemed to come from Sanson. Everyone else seemed to be going through the motions. Coutinho was complicit in this but when on the ball he had very little options. His shooting though literally aimed for the stars. Coutinho is no longer a wide player but he’s not a midfielder so that only leaves the bench or up front as a second striker. Maybe at a stretch he could re-invent himself in the old Pirlo role but he would need 2/3 brutes protecting him.

The culture of the club needs to match Unai’s ambition. The guy is a serial winner and has a body of work which means he’s elite. Already he’s talking about different attributes so he’s not taken long to understand how we need to improve. Funnily enough had we played like stoke we win.

Suffered a major knee injury. Also had a niggling ankle problem. He still played well for Bayern but they didn’t make his move permanent.

I’m loving the overreaction here tonight it’s so funny. I wouldn’t have gone for Dendoncker but he has been very solid until today even then he didn’t really do anything wrong he kept it ticking over. He also helped us with our first win against scumchester Utd in forever. it was a horrendous mistake but we should have been 3 up by then. Even then he fouled him outside the box. Where has this new “if it carries on then it’s a penalty “ rule come into effect??

If we didn’t have 3 games in the short amount of time recently we would have probably played Mings and one two others. But we should have scored 4/5 goals and seen it off. The defending all round for the second goal is a disgrace. -
