I’m not going to be disappointed if we bring in only 2/3 players of real quality. Maybe one young punt like Duran too. Ideal summer for me. This way the squad improves and it’s not another bloody overhaul.
I’m in two minds about this - loadsa money or we keep him and a huge personality and a player with an elite level mentality (although his performances have been a bit below his usual levels).
If we can replicate his mentality with a replacement then it makes sense but it’s a huge risk to sell him.
Who can feel the sexual tension between @Delphinho123 and @Kiwivillan ? When those two finally bang I have a feeling it’s going to rough and beautiful at the same time.
And those that can’t will be replaced or they need to improve. Emery has been here 10 games. People who moan etc forget we’ve gone from a manager who played with a Mid/ low block counter attacking style (Smith) to a manager who had a weird system and chopped and changed it (Gerrard) to a manager who wants to control possession in the opposition half.
Before smith we had Bruce, so as a club we’ve had a long time playing with defensive low/mid block managers therefore it’s going to take time for Emery’s style to be imprinted into the players.
“Of our current midfield only Kamara can put a foot in & McGinn too if selected, which is rare.“
Coutinho 5 tackles,
luiz, Buendia, 3 Tackles each yesterday. I think the guy is talking bollocks.
The goals are welcome but his all round game is back at the level of his first season and he’s starting to do the little things that I thought were missing like subtle pull backs and awareness of his teammates. His passing is getting better too.
To replace him would cost mega money imo. I think him and Duran can really cause problems.
Excellent post . Except Watkins who (imo) is improving rapidly under Emery. I’d keep Mings too as he is excellent for England which shows with better players around him he’d be solid as a rock.
He’s actually been very good at showing for possession and he keeps it simple.
However after yesterday and the blowing you mentioned I was wrong thinking we should start him. Though against Everton I’d be tempted to give him the first half to roughen them up.
IMO the Leicester game was an anomaly as we made 4 catastrophic errors and other than that we should have cake walked that game.
There’s a plan , there’s going to be growing pains and some players will move to the bench and then other teams but it’s a process.
