I do think this window is an important window for us. It’s BS that you can’t buy decent players in the window....you just have to be on the up rather than looking at relegation. LB and LCB seem to be the targets and I can’t argue with that. Simakan has been mentioned a lot but apparently he’s off to AC Milan..... but there again so is the Liverpool target Ozan Kabak. Given that Schalke are pretty much already relegated, we should be after either Simaken or Kabak. But I’d like to see some curveball signings. Schalke have the 20 year old Welsh international winger Rabbi Matondo (former Man City youth). Must be worth a punt. Similarly, over in France, Dijon have an English left footed CB called Jonathan Panzo (former Chelsea and Monaco youth). Its not rocket science and makes perfect sense post Brexit.

Don’t get me wrong.....Ollie or Wes and it’s Ollie every day of the week. Not for the goals surprisingly (based on his Chumps record) but his all round games. The problem I have is that unless Jack + other wide player in the 4-3-3 contribute 25+ over the course of the season, any less really need to be scored by your main ST. So Jack will get his fair share but unless Trez, Traore, El Ghazi (combined) do the same, we’ll not reach out potential unless Watkins scores far more regularly.

But if you use that as a metric, Keinan Davis would be Ronaldo or Messi. I’d rather a striker plays bang average but scores every other game rather than having a player who fills his boots every 5 games but still ends up with a 1:2 goal ratio. Watkins is miles better than Wes but he needs goals far more regularly than he has done so far.

I’m not trying trying to be controversial but we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that in 11 games he’s only scored in 3 games. Out of the 6 goals he’s scored 5 have been in 2 games. So when he does score he’s more likely than not to get another. But.....I’d rather he’d got two against Liverpool and one against Burnley. That’s no more goals but two extra points. Basically what I’m saying is that I think he needs to show up more in games we don’t dominate.

He’s neither but he’s real quality and Purslow’s comment about him being the best 16 y/o in the country last year all deserved. For me he’s a younger and taller and maybe better version of Luiz.

Sorry, Jack was a specialist LW when he was Barry’s age......not a ST really being pushed out wide for the 4-3-3 formation. I see Barry much more like Vardy than Jack, but physically the lad needs to mature because even at U18 level he looks a bit slight. Goals win matches and if he consistently scores goals he’ll make it I’m sure, but his goal shouldn’t overshadow a pretty average night for him. He wasn’t alone, I thought Ramsey had a very average game too.

Good post VillaAlex. Carney was unbelievable tonight, easily the closest player to the first team based on that performance. If only we can keep Luiz for a couple more seasons we’d have a ready made replacement. That it was nigh on impossible for Trump not to have COVID-19 IF WH staffers do have it. Of course you can have a situation where Trump remains Covid negative even if WH staffers do have it.
