  1. Just on the MLS debate Here’s an article from two years ago on ‘5 MLS wonderkids’ from nearly two years ago (November 2018). All of them were aged under 21. https://blog.wyscout.com/mls-alphonso-davies-tyler-adams-latif-blessing/ Out of the five, three of them (Alphonso Davies, Tyler Adams and Yangel Herrera) play in Europe. The other two, Milton Valenzuela and Latif Blessing are still young enough to make the grade. So that’s a 60% success rate from a well respected site and that’s pretty good. I read another article (can’t find it right now) which commented on how the MLS was becoming the stepping stone to the big European leagues for South American players rather than the traditional route of lower league clubs in Spain or Portugal. And Yangel Herrera I guess is a case in point. Bought by Man City for £2m when he was 19 and specifically loaned out to their franchise MLS club (rather than a club in Europe) for his development. Now Valencia Heavily linked with him and he will definitely end up at a big club. So I think the MLS has come along leaps and bounds over the last 3-4 years and we would be mad not to look at it as another marketplace. My own recommendation would be someone like Brian Rodríguez. 20 year old Uruguayan winger that Los Angeles paid £10m quid for last summer. Already a full international with 3 goals In 6 games. He won’t be cheap (£15m-£18m) but in 2-3 years you can imagine him having a £50m price tag. https://footballbh.net/2020/04/07/brian-rodriguez-201920-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/
  2. Why does it have to be Beundia OR Benrahma? I mean doesn’t Beundia play RW and Benrahma LW? Get both. Move Jack to AM (where he wants to play), buy a ST who actually scores goals and it’s job done for me re our attackers.
  3. Another point on Wes IF the rumours are right about Lazio’s interest and separately that we maybe after a CB Obviously as a club we’d prefer hard £££ but how about a swap + £ for their Slovakia CB Denis Vavro (who hasn’t settled at Lazio). Lange will know all about him having signed him and them sold him on whilst at FC Copenhagen. Apparently made his name as a ball playing CB, good age, right height for a CB. Could be a doubly good deal, get Wes off the wages and get a good CB that fits Smith’s way of playing.
  4. Sorry, am I getting the feeling a lot of love for Ollie, but not Edouard, Benny or Beundia?? I really can’t look through 50 pages?
  5. Crikey, a bit to post so bear with me fellas. The unlikely rumour re Wes. The usual gag is .....‘I’ll get the taxi’ but these days to Italy and the airlines that could be deep pockets.“ Obviously, if a bid came in then magic, even with a small haircut. Same for Samatta. Jack is AM. Benny is in on the left wing so we need RW and unless I’ve been really stupid over the last 48 hours it’s Beundia for me. There are others tough but I won’t bore you at this time. As for STs, the jury is firmly out on Watkins at this point. Surely we’ve gotta be looking at Edouard/Origi and maybe even Iheanacho over Watkins?? (Kinda ignored Tammy given the Edouard + £20m/£30m uplift). (Edit x2 been a bit stupid so clarifying). (Edit x3 - relative newbie fella so a break would be ).
  6. Apparently we have two trialists in the squad tonight? Does anyone have any more info?
  7. Still a newbie on here so limited number of posts allowed. But here are my thoughts... Delighted we’ve signed Hause, with an option to buy. Just what we immediately need and will work well with Elphick and Chester. My long term hope is that he and Axel are our CB partnership in the Premier league as I think they compliment each other perfectly. Both ball playing CB’s, one right footed one left footed. Hause is more of the unit and Axel more of a sweeper. Think we’ll sign 2-3 more players. Maupay is top of my hot list. Nothing like Hogan as a ST but could work brilliantly with him as a partnership. Why? Because Hogan thrives off clever through balls through the middle, not wide crosses from the flanks. Equally I think he’d work well behind Kodjia too. Maupay is a brilliant link man but more than capable of finding the net too. IMO he’s a more direct, aggressive/nasty and goal scoring version of Jack. Not the same dribbling skills maybe, maybe not quite the same vision but if Jack could add to his game what Maupay has he’d be playing for England and Champions League football now without a doubt. As such he’s a good replacement for Jack if/when he goes. I think we’ll one or two Suso signings from Europe (take your pick from the links to date) over the next week or so, but I think any signings from Brentford - Maupay, Barbet or even Sawyers will be deadline day stuff. We won’t get all three but we could land two......and my feeling is Maupay will be one of them.
  8. Nyland will be with us until his contract expires i'm sure. And with Kalinic now in I'd say he'll ne a good no.2 , certainly better than Bunn or Steer imo.
  9. He wasn't given much of a chance under Spud and didn't need to be treated the way he was simply because he was a RdM player. We're up the creek in at CB at the moment and an experienced head like his wouldn't go amiss.
  10. Hello fellas. Long time Villa fan and postert on one of the other blogs re Villa. I love the club, its history and its future. No better club in the world for me. I'm a big fan of bringing through players from he U23's and academy but feel we havent got it right for so long now.
