  1. Wherever he ends up it's going to be difficult for him to find motivation. Yeah, he loves football, but does he love the graft? Then you bring in the fact he's now played for his boyhood club, he's played for and won everything with the "best" club in England, and he's absolutely loaded...what else is there for him to prove or achieve? Can see him going overseas assuming we don't want him back. Going to any other English club isn't going to motivate him.
  2. It's due to the number of really poor teams in the bottom half of the PL. Even the 7th-10rh place teams are underperforming relative to previous years. It's why we can't look at previous points totals to help guide our hopes. Look at the reality of the current table and the fixtures we and our opposition have. We should continue to play as we have done all season and, if we do, we'll stay top 4. A slight tail off and we're top 5. It needs a monumental drop to finish lower. Beat spurs at home and we're nearly there. Even if we don't beat Luton this weekend. The season has a long way to run and there'll be more twists in our race for top 4.
  3. So we assume he does cover both sides, and whilst we're decent at the attacking side (and far more effective than we had been for decades before his arrival), the defensive side is very much room for improvement. And as @cheltenham_villa said, its not usually a direct header that goes in, its a laid off header that drops in the 6yard box that seems to cause us the issues. All the defence runs out to play for an offside or something, and there's an un-marked man running in the other direction left with a tap in. The same type of goal has been scored past us 3 times recently, so there's plenty of footage for MacPhee to watch and learn from.
  4. They won't win it and their over worked team having to play 120 minutes is not going to be good for their league form. Howe is getting the sack before the transfer window opens.
  5. Good stamina was the most impressive thing. Still running deep into extra time.
  6. Shame. Chrisene had some decent moments in that game, as well as some not so good ones.
  7. Yeah I know. But it did take a poor team to get him out of his slump. Let's see if it carries on again now
  8. Pep will be moaning about fixture congestion later on in the season, but keeping De Bruyne and Haaland on when you're 5-2 up is asking for injuries.
  9. I asked the same question before but didn't get an answer. Can't seem to find out anywhere online.
  10. Add the 4 players that got unusual and unlucky season ending injuries to our squad and we are strong enough to cope with the League and any European competition. I guess we may still need one or two more, amd to get lucky with injuries not being more than two week layoffs, but we don't need major overhaul. Just a bit of luck. We don't have the money of Man City to buy our way out of bad luck.

    Matty Cash

The lack of organisation can be blameed on the lack of Pau. What goes unseen in his performances, along with the obvious amazing progression, is that he gets the whole backline in the right positions. Losing him meant we had an untried and untested combination, which was always going to have a slip up. I don't think much blame lies with either player for a change. Maybe more so with Lenglet who should have taken over Pau's organisation role. The nature of our high risk system is that its not easy to get right, so not having practiced it in a game is going to bring about some errors. But during a game we're winning comfortably is a much better time to learn that lesson and hopefully will mean they don't do it again when they get forced on the pitch together at short notice next time. Cash had a good game, despite his slight contribution to their goal.
  12. Had his home town statue covered in bin bags, and plenty of newspaper articles denouncing him too. It's what happens long term really though. Uefa still listing him in their records, and have an article on him as part of their champions league 100 club that's still accessible. I'm not sure what i expect to happen with his legacy, but do we really want people in 50 years time remembering him as a highly decorated exceptional footballer and completely not knowing he was a rapist? Google "Kobe Bryant' legacy", and you won't find one article about the rape he committed. Is that the right thing for society to do? Focus on the good things you can learn from someone, rather than knowing about any bad they did despite that? To try and hide the fact that there was a lack of consequences that you can face for such actions if you're rich and famous? Although in Alves's case, there were (unusually) consequences.
  13. I imagine he'd relish the chance, and even if he missed you'd just back him to then perform even better saving them such is his confidence. Might not be a bad shout
  14. Except when they played us and we dominated them. Although Grealish wasn't playing then.
  15. Doesn't really belong here but the fight for 7th spot is really interesting as well. West Ham, Brighton, Newcastle, even Wolves and maybe Chelsea. Only a few points separates the lot. If United keep messing up and play more like their rubbish selves then their occasionally ok selves, they could fall back into it. Nice to be watching it from a relatively elevated spot... would be nice if we can guarantee ourselves top 5 before the last few games, and have 5th spot guaranteed CL also. Long shot I know

    Unai Emery

We immediately transitioned to top 4 form from his first game. And haven't left it since. From relegation form to top 4 form overnight. He's a true miracle worker, although it seems unfair to call it a miracle as it's entirely down to his hard work.
  17. @OutByEaster? Unless Everton somehow get special dispensation for the fact this is the only year where you can be punished twice in the same season, they should be looking at another commensurate deduction Forest's beach would have to have been less than the 47.5m they sold Johnson for. And reading through a summary of Swiss Rambles view of things it sounds like they will be in the ball park of (or even lower than) Everton's £20m. A 6 point deduction for them shouldn't put them in trouble.... Edit: scratch that, 6 points puts them right in it, with a tricky run of fxitures. If Luton carry on their revival (except against us) it could be a good battle for that last spot
  18. What a load of clickbait bollocks. We cant believe another team would try and sign a player we've got a fee agreed for... right. I imagine we either set the deal up in a way that another club cant circumvent it, or we accepted that another club may try to sign him and we'll be happy to compete with them for his signature. I imagine we're not in the slightest bit furious In either case. I hate modern journalism.
  19. 20m breach being 6 points seems OK. For 20m, you aren't signing a player that guarantees you two wins. As long as they're proposing a sliding scale that ramps up quickly and significantly then it should be OK.
  20. I was speaking from Neville's perspective. He's angry Liverpool won and extend their record, won so he's taking it out on the team that lost. His ire may be better placed at his beloved Man United who didn't even get to the final. I think I agree with you, they didn't really bottle it, they're just not anywhere near as good as the amount of money they cost.
  21. By the time extra time rolled around and Liverpool had half their youth team on the pitch they really should have gone on to win it. Does that qualify as bottling it? If you wanted Liverpool to lose I guess it does.
