  1. Needed that to get them out their half. Could be a rout now....
  2. Well the last three games haven't exactly gone well, so even if you are you're probably going to be glad for a change. Or you can point to our record streak before that.
  3. Not from me! Although I was definitely a voice in the minority. Gerrard was always a charlatan, and Smith never got the chance to play him. By the time Emery came in, our ships were too far apart for him to come on board.
  4. Interesting looking at the Club Brugge badge, and how small that is forced to become because the star above it has to be included, and all the badges have been scaled to fit the same vector. Another reason to bin off the star totally, and not just move out to a more logical external location.
  5. I think the other sale option is someone who's sale price far exceeds the value brought to the squad. You'd have to argue almost any single player that you sold for 100m would fall into that bracket. And we have to expect to have to do that, I just hope it isn't one of Martinez, Pau, Luiz, or Watkins. That spine of the team has to remain.
  6. I'm not debating the fact that it will be a key game. I'm debating the fact you said its our most important one in 40 years. Two very different things. Yes, he may well prioritise that game, but it doesn't mean he's writing off Ajax. He'll rotate one or very maybe two players. Hardly throwing in the towel. Fact is we don't have more than 4 players available to rotate anyway, so he'll be going strong in both. Please tell me where I said he wasn't prioritising the league.
  7. True, although i'd question if the players approached that with the same energy they would have a PL game. Best players sure, but they weren't playing to the best of their ability. Hard to tell how well they'll approach the Conference league games as we've not really been forced to try so far.
  8. Treating it like we can only possibly win one of the two things is ridiculous. As pointed out to you previously, we've beaten Man City and Arsenal in the space of four days this season. Ajax and Spurs are both levels below them, and we can absolutely do the same again.
  9. How are Leicester doing? And Everton, who got to the qualifying round but lost. Before you even get to the fact that that is one game with 9 more after it and 2 before it , the qualification for the qualifying round is big, but it isn't as existence defining as winning that playoff was. We could have been fined, had points deducted and lost our best player if we hadn't gone up then.
  10. At the time I watched it, not the time it was played live. I hadn't heard he'd got injured before seeing their highlights as I dont read news/match reports about other clubs generally, but will watch the highlights. Obviously I didn't watch either game live, that would be illegal
  11. And we will easily get Europa without beating spurs. We can get the champions league losing to them as well. Bizarre take to be worrying about who we've drawn in the context of the spurs game. The biggest factors (travel, aggresion of opposition, and quality of away pitch) are actually in our favour
  12. Playoff final? Pivotal moment for our existence. Without that we lose Grealish, we don't make 100m, and we're not sitting here with Emery in the position to qualify for the CL. If we lose the spurs game we have 10 other games to make up the deficit, and by the time we play then their might not be one anyway. I think it's you that needs the head wobble. And Ajax really isn't that much more difficult than any other team. They won't be filthy like some of the weaker opposition, and we haven't got a long flight to worry about.
  13. Can't find a video of it now but watching it at the time, before I even knew he was injured, looked like a dirty tackle, made from behind with no hope of getting the ball fairly. Said as much in the weekly match thread at the time that the ref got the decision wrong. If i could find a clip I'd rewatch it to confirm I'm recalling this accurately, but either way, I'd disagree it wasn't that bad.
  14. A million times over, exactly this^
  15. To to recap the last 7 pages for anyone who cba to read it; Televised draw was slow and took forever. We drew Ajax. No they're, not as good as they used to be. Yes, they're have having a poor season by their standards. And started season terribly Yes, they're playing a lot better the last couple of months since sacking their old manager. Brighton knocked then out of the Europa League, but back then they were playing poorly. If people stopped asking the same question that had been answered on the page before this thread would be about 3 pages long. Hey ho. Happy with Ajax. What's the point in being in Europe if you don't want to play teams like them.
  16. That's why the gas lamp inspired shield was so good. Looks like a shield but to those that know it means something.
  17. Stars all over the place on those badges, without knowing what they mean, I assume they're not all for winning the European Cup. Makes me want the star on our bade even less. Its meaningless.
  18. Yes, really. Washed out and bland. Our new one there would fit in but still lacks a bit of vibrancy for me.
  19. And the exact same thing could have happened to Douglas Luiz. It's a miracle we got him to sign a new contract while Gerrard was still here.
  20. Given he's 40 and retired I imagine they'll completely ignore it as if he never happened.
  21. And the tackle from behind wasn't even a foul.
  22. All of the above few posts could see United end up doing a Chelsea but without having the billions of pounds worth of players to save them. They will only continue to get the referee and VAR decisions while they remain a top 4/6 club. They have a bad year because they haven't improved like all the other clubs around them, and they going to have to spend money amd make a loss. Other than Garnacho, and maybe Mainoo (even more maybe Rashford), their team seems filled with players that won't make them a profit. That's before they have to have spend half a billion repairing a stadium that is falling down. One thing's for sure, they won't be voting for the new ffp rules that bring stadium expenditure into their ffp calcs.
  23. I know! He did seem to make it fairly easy to find out though. Haha. Sadly as its now deleted can't check if he posted anything at the time
