I have an inkling this is just the beginning!
  2. It is time to step up to the challenge Ollie!
  3. This will cheer everybody up! Southgate being absolutely destroyed by Luke Moore.
  4. I am a huge admirer of D. Luiz, I believe he is going to go really far - I just hope we get to see his best days at the Villa.
  5. Something is happening, I can feel it in my bones.
  6. We are preparing a new and improved five year contract for Grealish according to The Sun.
  7. It comes with the territory. Smith will most likely shoulder a lot, if not all, of the responsibility for results. This pressure is not going to go away any time soon. You could also present a hard luck case for most football clubs over the course of a season. Ultimately, we have failed to stay up because we have not been good enough over 38 games. We have not held on to leads, dropped too many points from winning positions and conceded too many late goals.
  8. Sadly I think Smith is a "close, but no cigar" man. There has been some encouraging signs in the last two games but it is "too little, too late". The team is too mentally fragile under his leadership. For example, dropping 19 points from winning positions, and being the top team for conceding in the last 15 minutes, does not bode well for the future. This may seem harsh, but I worry about us next season. I think we may draw too many games, continue our bad habits and hit form at the wrong time. I appreciate what he has achieved, but we need a fresh start.
  9. - Bring in new a DOF & Head Coach or a proven promotion winning manager. Ideally I want us to select a top quality head coach and sporting director, upgrading on what we currently have. - Aim for immediate promotion. No more excuses or downplaying expectations under the guise of long term planning or stability. We will be favourites to win the league/promotion, we need to accept that and embrace it. - Keeping together the majority of our current squad, especially our better players and improving our attacking options. I, like many others, have accepted Grealish wants to leave the club, we need to fight tooth and nail for all of our other better players! - I would love for us to start integrating some of our academy prospects next season. We will come back from this disappointing season and be stronger for it!
  10. As long as we get the correct fee for Jack (which the club deserves for investing in him since he was a young lad), I don't really care where he goes or what he achieves.
  11. I think any long term planning can only really apply to the academy/youth side of things at the moment. Continuity for the sake of it is, if not worse, just as bad as chopping and changing managers regularly. In my mind, stability needs to be based on keeping a core group of 1st team players together too. A group that are also improving and developing game by game & season by season. The stability we have had at Villa has been sticking by failing/poor managers for far too long, and then those managers overhauling their squads each summer going away from their original philosophy. I am unconvinced by Dean Smith. As it stands, I do not think he is the right person for us next season. I would personally take a more traditional approach next season, bringing in somebody like Chris Hughton and build for immediate promotion. It is so so important to have a bullish DOF and minimal squad changes (losing and replacing our better players!) in the unlikely scenario Smith stays on.
  12. I do not think he has the right mentality to recover from these poor performances and results. I think Dean is too placid and nice to manage a club like this and recover our form.
  13. We got giddy after winning a match in the Premier League, we never wait to see how everything plays out. We have history of this sort. I remember Tom Fox renewing Gabby's and Hutton's contract after winning a few games, it is laughable. It feels like you are rewarding for minute successes here or paid off handsomely for failure. It makes me sick.
  14. It is called the Premier League! Hasn't been named the Premiership in years!!!
  15. RIP Ron. We will never forget you!
  16. I am much more confident in the people leading the club that this is not a dead-on certainty. Providing we stay up of course. I believe the club will genuinely try to build around our best players (like McGinn) in the coming years, similar to what Edens has attempted to implement with his NBA team. Hopefully our better players' effort will be rewarded financially and professionally as we continue to improve on and off the pitch. Furthermore, speculation is a healthy thing - I want our talent and team to be the envy of the league. The future is claret and blue. UTV!
  17. He has been getting a six from a lot of the match reports, which I find stunning. He was excellent defensively, breaking up their attacks and mopping up loose balls.
  18. Robbed! We weren't great but Friend has got Palace over the line by very poor officiating.
  19. Awesome news. Praying Tyrone doesn't turn to shit against Palace!!!!
