  1. I think Kodja was more likely to do something different and get you a goal out of nowhere. Ok he was poor, but nobody is picked to be poor. Davis is similar to Wesley and since it was one way traffic there wasn’t much ball for him to hold up, or midfielders going forward to feed. As that was the scenario a centre forward coming on late was likely to face, Davis would have been a wasted place on the bench.
  2. As I’m sure you’ll agree TRO, it will take time for all of them to settle, some longer than others. It’s hard to judge a player on a substitute performance, particularly an attacking player when we are so under the cosh and with very little possession.
  3. I thought exactly the same. Hopefully he’ll end up being as good as Benteke.
  4. Luiz looked assured on the ball, but he really wasn’t on the pitch long enough to form an accurate opinion.
  5. And you think that was our first team once all the new signings are match fit and settled in?
  6. I was about to write something similar, thanks for saving me the trouble. Lots may have changed at the club, but nothing has changed on here. I’ve never seen such a ridiculous over reaction on the back of a wonderful summer and before a ball has even been kicked. I’m just glad we’re not in the trenches.
  7. Taylor isn’t too bad defensively and I guess we may well be doing a fair bit of that this afternoon. Players need time to settle and if the coaches think that Targett doesn’t seem quite right then perhaps they’ve kept him back rather than throw him into the bear pit. Besides you never know when you might need a scapegoat!
  8. Just popped in to do my bit for the 1k club.
  9. Today is World Lion Day and so it is written. P.S. Not sure when World Chicken Day is?
  10. I think his decision making is probably the weakest part of his game and as a result some of his play doesn’t have an effective end result. However, I believe that part of his game is getting better all the time and with better players around him and continued good coaching he’s gonna be pure dead brilliant!!

    Keinan Davis

I wasn’t really comparing him with either Henry or Owen, I was just using them to illustrate that even the best take time to develop. I do agree that I thought Hoddle’s comment that Owen wasn’t a natural goal scorer was strange at the time. That to me was always his main attribute. However the football scrap heap is littered with players with incredible talent that didn’t work hard enough, or didn’t find themselves in the right place at the right time to take full advantage of their talent. Henry and Owen did both. Hopefully Davis will do the same and at least be the best he can be.
  12. If I’m honest I’d never heard of him until a couple of years ago when we moved up here. Duncan is a lovely bloke, the only way I know him is because he’s now a van driver and we get lots of deliveries for my wife’s business. Even then I wouldn’t have known he was a former footballer if someone hadn’t told me. He’s still a legend in Aberdeen, as I’m sure you know and has 7 caps for Scotland. He never talks about it, but then again I only ever see him when he’s busy delivering and I don’t want to pester him. He’s really friendly though.
  13. Depends which end he finishes his hatrick in. He may have to run right back to the other end to celebrate with our fans.
  14. That really would be doing a Fulham.
  15. Since I live near Inverness, yes I have heard of him. I’ve also heard of Duncan Shearer who I was chatting to earlier.
  16. I’m sure you’re right. I think that there’s also a problem that currently Scottish players in general are under valued and so we didn’t have any competition for signing SJM, other than Celtic who were taking the p1$$. The influx of cheap foreign imports has had such an adverse effect on the development of Scottish players. The big TV money in England has also effected the development of English players, but at least they are importing top players and so generally raising the overall standard. Back in the 70s and 80s every team, including us, had a fairly large Scottish contingent. But now clubs shop further a field and so slowly the number of Scots has diminished, so very little money is heading north. It’s a double whammy for Scottish players, they’re not getting the chance because of cheap imports in Scotland and because of expensive imports in England. Perhaps a few more flag bearers like SJM might help redress that. I hope so since I now live near Inverness and I want to encourage us to come up for a preseason friendly against Cali or Ross County.
  17. Some Scots thought he was only worth about £2.75m, hey ho
  18. Well those goals add up to 37 and if 40 goals is the magic number our new players only have to chip in another 3 between them. I’m sure £130m should buy you 3 goals, even Tom Heaton might chip in with a couple of late equalisers from corners. Seriously though, even in a more difficult division we set up to score goals and I believe we will be able to score enough to have a decent season. People speculate about all sorts of things, one of those will inevitably be goals scored.
  19. I’ve heard we’re going to get it sponsored by a well known double glazing company. I’m sworn to secrecy but I can say that next season’s preseason tour is to Nepal and the players aren’t exactly looking forward to the training runs that are being devised by the coaches.
  20. Nothing to do with it. NSWE would have been aware of the £30m due when they bought us and probably saw it as as a way to finally rid us of the fraud as they would have known that Xia had as much chance of putting his hands on £30m you and me. (Definitely me anyway!). I don’t think this would effect FFP either, so basically loose change to these lads. We didn’t sign Benrahma because the club regarded him to be over priced and wouldn’t back down. As much to do with future negotiations with Brentford and any other clubs as with the individual player.
  21. Neither did any other club for that matter, otherwise he would have been sold.
  22. Actually I have being thinking of this SLAMMED shut. Nobody slams a window or for that matter, actually enters through a window. The transfer window should be firmly closed but never slammed. If however the transfer window had shutters, they could be brought down and at a stretch slammed shut. Now a door, that’s a different matter altogether, that can definitely be slammed shut. It can also be revolving, which is always handy in discussions about managers. However it should never be sliding or patio and of course heaven forbid French. Then whilst on the topic of doors the opportunity then arises, with a little license and for those of us old enough to remember, to introduce Diana Dors who was always magnificent up front.
