  1. You can get over 2/1 odds on United winning with us having a 2-0 headstart on the handicap betting. 3 or more goals in the game is pretty much even money too. Looks like free money to (slightly) lessen the blow of relegation day
  2. That will probably be about 5 games next year. We will be a Tuesday,Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday TV team. Will not buy a ST, worked too may weekends/odd hours to make it worthwhile for years now but will probably go to a few more games than i have done for the past few seasons
  3. Cheers, Didn't spot anyone but to be honest i'm not sure i would recognise some of the new assistants/coaches etc. Only went as i am currently about 10 minutes away from the ground but it was an entertaining enough game. Grealish played the full 90 & played well 1st half but faded a bit in the second. Lyden was steady enough without really doing anything spectacular but the defence looked nervous and seemed to cause themselves a few problems although they did manage to sort themselves out for the most part apart from the 2nd wolves goal when everyone seemed to just stand there waiting for someone else to do something. Kinsella played well, had a couple of good chances himself & creating the 1st sellars goal but there wasn't always much cover for him when he went forwards which gave wolves a few good chances, especially early on in the 2nd half where villa were probably lucky to keep it at 1-1 before Sellars scored against the run of play. Both teams had a few more chances towards the end of the game before a poor clearance to nobody allowed wolves to make it 2-2 with 2 minutes to go. Right place right time from sellars at the end and a cool finish. Thought Brad Walker looked ok for Wolves although apparently he is a Hartlepool player playing a trial game, could develop into a decent player Maybe games like this are the reality check that Grealish needs, In less than a year he has gone from being "the next big thing" and playing in front of 90,000 at Wembley in a cup final to not really standing out in a u21 game in front of 300 people. Perhaps he should go & have a chat with Stefan Moore to see what the other side of football is like.
  4. Every time i see this tread bumped to the top i get excited thinking maybe some club has found a youtube highlight reel of his from 2006-2008 and decided to buy him based purely on that. 1 good season since 09/10 and bizarrely that was the season in which he only made 28 appearances (12/13)
  5. Finished Villa 3 - 2 Wolves Grealish (Pen) & Sellars x2. Sellars 2nd goal was an injury time game winner
  6. Grealish is starting tonight. Sarkic, Webb, Mason, Suliman, Kinsella, Blackett-Taylor, Lyden, Calder, Grealish, Green, Sellars Subs: Idem, Toner, Hale, Cowans, Abdo
  7. Under armour would be good. They even made bespoke home & away kits (based on retro 1985 kits) for local non-league Conference North Telford this year. The training wear is a bit dull, mostly just a badge stuck on a hoodie/jacket etc but imagine they could do something a bit more interesting for a higher profile team
  8. According to Gazzetta dello Sport he was only on 3.2 million Euros at inter per year. That is about £2.4 million. Offer him somewhere around that for the rest of the year & job done
  9. Vidic on a 5-6 month deal, 100,000 per week only works out at a little over 2 million. Option to stay if we manage to stay up or he shows that he can still do it in the PL and heads elsewhere in the summer for a better deal. Would seem to make sense for both parties and he can maybe even teach Richards where he should actually be on the pitch at all times when playing right back. Everyone says his legs have gone but there are some things you just do not lose and he was one of the best defenders in the world a couple of years ago. He is also 10 months younger than John Terry and he seems to have managed well enough over the past year or so. Hell even if he didn't play a single game i would argue that giving him a couple of million to come & train with the team & youth players every day for the rest of the season would be worth the money
  10. had to turn radio 5 off, Worst commentary i have ever heard. Doesn't sound like any of them have even seen Villa play this year. At least Talksport seem to know what is going on
  11. i know would be nice to have that sort of quality available for all positions every game
  12. That must be one of the best subs benches we have had for years...
  13. He is 28, From the ivory coast & has scored 95 in 149 appearances for Young boys & CSKA, including 6 in 6 against PL teams in the champions league. Two footed, plays mainly as a striker but also covers both wings if/when playing 4-3-3. Roma signed him for 14.5 million euros a year ago but loaned him pretty much straight back to CSKA as he wasn't fully fit after playing in the African Cup of nations and couldn't establish himself as a result. Swansea are after him and Galatasary have already had a go at £11 million
  14. Well that's different... Not really sure how much anything will change other than there is now someone else involved on a more day to day basis
  15. Dwight Gayle for 8 million or so would seem like a snip and would think that he would be happy enough to stay next year if we were to go down. Edwin Gyasi of Roda could also be worth a look with adama being out for a while, Still young at 24 and likes to run at people although his end product is sometimes a little wayward. He's basically a less stocky traore
  16. gestede is absolute dog shit but if you give him the ball in the right place he will easily score 20 goals this season
  17. Thought that it was a terrible appointment at the time but i like the guy and he is obviously trying to do something a bit different than we have been used to. Sure he'll make mistakes and we are still in need of a few more players but our squad on paper looks an awful lot stronger than it has for years meaning that we actually have some subs capable of making a difference to a game for a change. The one thing that can't be argued with is results, Since he took over we have already won more games than we did in the entire 13/14 & 14/15 seasons combined under lambert People also mock the win % record a little but facts speak for themselves. The only managers with a higher win percentage than him in premier league history (that have managed 30 games or more) have all managed either Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City or Liverpool, He has managed his 50% with spurs & us...

    Hi

fat & 40, following villa since early 80's. Used to go a lot including european away ties (all the spanish games anyway) but now more of an armchair through work commitments.
