  1. While some scepticism and caution is fine and I can see why people are worried. We really need to wait and see what happens before firing off insults and getting the pitchforks and inflatables ready. A little pressure for some clarity won’t hurt, but we just don’t know what is ahead, which a horrible position to be in is but that’s what it is.
  2. I'd be happy if he stayed in some capacity. It'd certainly be a big statement of intent from both The Doc and Hollis. If Samuelson is to be a board member rather than just being involved in the deal, then I can't see this changing.
  3. I'm optimistic, excited and looking forward to what's ahead, although at the same time with a bit in the back of my head saying what if.... but as you say, Hollis is very experienced and has likely come across a heap dodgy people and blaggers trying to acquire business's he has worked with and should be able to spot them a mile off. He is successful at what he does and it would be a bit of career suicide if he got this wrong. So there should be some comfort in that.
  4. I don't know about Hollis but it certainly brought a tear to my eye when he talked about the fans against Newcastle. Well done to all that were there especially @markavfc40 and @dont_do_it_doug. and everyone else involved in organising the protests as that obviously had an impact on the day. Oh I also forgot to thank Newcastle for being nearly as crap as us.
  5. Yeah i think Pat Murphy said yesterday morning before the deal was announced, that all debts to Lerner would be written off.
  6. One of the articles about him says he has been heavily involved in the urbanisation of rural areas. Without knowing too much about it, I think it has often been very contentious and will split opinion. As part of it he will have helped many poor people prosper but on the other hand there will have been those removed from their family ancestoryhome by force. As for The Villa, it's very exciting to see what is going to happen over the next couple of months and beyond. Good times ahead hopefully. We may even win a few more than 3 and keep some clean sheets.
  7. Just been browsing for more information and the small Heath alliance forum keeps coming up towards the top of the search. It appears they found that website earlier than it was on here. Can't fault their dedication for all things Villa
  8. Can't be bothered to even come over here to buy the club, new owner out!
  9. I took it that he didn't actually know who it was but felt he had enough to write his piece.
  10. On 5 live. Murphy did cover himself and said if not the end of the week. Certainly the end of the month. I also think it has happened previously where a takeover had been announced subject to approval from the football league. So when it's done it still might not be quite done. or the approval process may have already started possibly.
  11. Yes, well he stated it as a fact rather than rumour but said the identity was being kept closely guarded.
  12. He has said it will be an individual, not a consortium or government backed. Which differs from everything else talked about recently.
  13. Was just writing similar Pat Murphy saying it now on 5 live.
  14. He gets too much unfair stick on here but having said that he didn't sound like he knew much more than anyone else really. Just putting together the bits of info and rumours that are around.
  15. The couple of Everton season ticket holders I know, have said he is the only player that than can come out of this season with some credit. Lukaku has got goals but if he's not scoring he's a waste of a player on the pitch. I was suprised at their views of Barkley as well, as they want to get rid as he constantly slows down attacks. I would think that this would be down to Martinez's style though as when I see Barkely he tends to be looking forward for runs and passes.
  16. Yeah I think he had a bit of info on our summer transfer because he's friends with the Mckays. If he knew much he could write an article on it or it would be such common knowledge among football journalists that someone else would have already.
  17. The only thing I can find is "Chinese group think they are doing it. How long to complete and pass the Football League tests .. unknown." Which doesn't necessarily mean we are at the fit and proper person test stage, just that it needs to be done. What stage is the fit and proper person test done? Is it pretty much when a deal is complete or in advance of that?
  18. I get pissed off whenever he's mentioned, there's always something about him being a Villa fan. It's probably been good publicity for the club but he's not really a fan is he. He probably couldn't name one player in the history of the club.
  19. While not saying much, the Twitter conversation with Alan Nixon is interesting.
  20. As a recording artist you'll always get a tune out of him even without studio tricks. Live he's too inconsistent, not that I've cared when I've seen him/them live. New tune? I need a few listens I think, at the moment it's alright. I listen to the Roses regularly still but as Dave said above tastes have changed and for the last 10 years there's only a few 'indie' tunes that have grabbed me.
  21. Unfortunately on my Dad's side I know very few, as my Dad died when I was very young and until recently it was really just my Grandad. Although when going through his house after he passed I found a family bible going back about 5 generations plus seperately a family tree just on my dads side going back about 10 generations. My mum is Irish and all her family are a little crazy, and have a legend of a great great uncle who we call the machine as he just keeps going, despite being 90, various health problems, living on a farm on his own very isolated in Co Donegal. My step Dad is pretty much why I'm Villa, however a lot of his family are blues, which makes the occasional family get together interesting as there a couple you can only tolerate so much.
  22. The Stone Roses have a new song out today!
  23. It is replacement for what was the reserve league. Your allowed 3 over 21 outfield players and a goalkeeper. I'm sure thoughout the year plenty of over 21's play to gain match fitness after being injured etc, but playing Cazorla at this stage in the season is taking the piss a bit, and a bit unfair on their U21 players, like Crowley who was on the bench in their play off game.
  24. There's many ways for agents to get their money. I've just kept my client happy and got him out of a relegated club that he wasn't sure about going to with little fuss, got him a bigger signing on fee than he would have otherwise at his new club in a top league in Europe, took my cut and got a good reputation amongst some potential new clients.
  25. Surely you're just thinking from the clubs point of view. A player isn't going to want to play on less money in a lower profile, lower league and isn't going to want to be priced out of a quick exit. I'm not suggesting it was a good move by Villa if true, but it's a likely possible scenario.
