  1. We think the youngest got it at a birthday party last sunday, then her sister caught it off her, now she's feeling it worse today and has a high temperature. They aren't too far apart in symptoms (about a day) so may have caught it in the same place elsewhere. The eldest is asthmatic, so hopefully doesn't hit her too hard. She has needed her inhaler today. I tested negative again before work this morning.
  2. The girls are both a bit under the weather but not too bad, the youngest was in bed for a lot of the day though. I've took them for a PCR this evening, i thought the new rules about lateral flows had started but not until the 11th, so one of the schools said we needed a PCR. My Mrs has felt a bit crap for a few days but its not unusual this time of the month, but she thought she would be positive, but not so far anyway.
  3. Its finally reached our house. A text yesterday from our 4 year olds school to say someone in her class was positive. Did a lateral flow (her first which wasn't fun) and a positive for her, negative for us and her sister but her sister was positive this morning. Me and the Mrs negative again, will see what the tomorrow brings.
  4. I used to buy a couple of bottles for the train home when I'd done a late shift at work, it was 6.5%. I don't like grapefruit at all but did like that. I found in a can the grapefruit taste was stronger than in a bottle, so preferred a bottle. The new version is 5.1%, it misses the extra strength. They are doing or have done a 7.2% version, not tried that though if it's available.
  5. Had quite a lot of red wine over the last few days. A decent St Emilion and Amarone della Valpolicella. Really enjoyed this one from Aldi though and only about £7. Several bottles sunk. Beer wise, I've had quite a few different Verdant brewery IPA's, all very nice. Got one of these in the fridge too which I'm looking forward to trying. Never been a big Whisky drinker but suddenly got 3 bottles in the cupboard too. A mate bought me a bottle of Powers for my birthday, I got a Laphroaig for Christmas and was given a Highland Park Viking honour. All 3 have been opened.
  6. I've had it for nearly 3 years now in my right foot. Well, started to get it diagnosed pre Covid but moved house and changed doctors and not tried again yet. As a postie it's pretty relentless on my feet, can manage it OK most shifts. I can barely walk on it first thing out of bed then afternoon and evening it varies in severity. I think I actually have had it for years but only flared up after big shifts at work (not a postie but on my feet still) and went away the next day. Where as now 2 weeks rest doesn't even help.
  7. Davkaus when he discovers Ruge has also brought a Cucumber.
  8. Had the HonestBrew beer advent calendar this year, for a few different beers for Christmas, although have drank a couple on the day. Stuck a few bottles in the fridge today as they don't fit on my shelf. First one out and its only a bloody cider! Quite enjoyed it though, after the surprise. Also had the Brewdog Parma Violet one. It's never in stock when I got to Tesco but got one today. Enjoyed that one too.
  9. Kids are so hard to diagnose, our eldest periodically complained of tummy aches. Couldn't work it out, we considered anxiety, making it up to get out of something or attention seeking and obviously looked at what she was eating too. Went to GP and they went through the same things but did do a blood test. Turns out she is a Coeliac and her levels were off the scale. The youngest is always saying something on her hurts. I do think it's just a faze and nothing serious but still a pain trying to work out if it needs a bit more than "it'll be fine" or a little bit of compassion.
  10. The little boy who died in Droitwich earlier in the year hit me quite hard. Not sure what's happened with the investigation but it's certainly not gone to court yet. I'd been on the housing development where he lived a few times and had seen him on his own outside his house and there was something that made me feel sorry for him. No more than that and could quite easily have been nothing so I couldn't have done much but still made me feel shit.
  11. Notoriously a bad time to start any sort of diet but I'll be going through this thread again in January. Recently found out I have mild-moderate arthritis in my knee added to an increasing list of ailments in my legs and feet, so need too make some changes. Diet is the 'easiest' to get cracking on straight away. My job (postie), the best way to increase exercise out of work, especially if i change jobs, will take a bit longer to get in place, I imagine.
  12. Really enjoyed it. Any sour type beers usually my first sip, I'm thinking will this go down well. Enjoyed it straight away though. It is 10% but pretty balanced. Other beers I've enjoyed this weekend was Vocation Triple vision, triple IPA. Another 10%er And a last minute new beer I spotted on my way, in Morrisons a Northern monk, Vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate porter
  13. I think it might be a very new one, after I picked it the lady said it was really good and the brewery sold out of them quickly.
  14. Had the Bathams this evening and enjoyed it and I can imagine it would be much better from as cask in a pub. It didn't pour very well even for a typical bottled beer and didn't have much of a head. However I still enjoyed it. I still enjoy more traditional ales, I enjoy drinking lager a lot less nowadays though.
  15. Was passing the Jinney Ring near Bromsgrove and there's a craft beer place there so rude not to drop in. I've never actually had Bathams, I know it has a high standing for those in black country and those that drink it regularly, so about time I tried it. Pump up the Jam for similar reasons, its been mentioned here a few times but never got round to buying some. Tony Rebel - Shimmy Shimmy NEIPA Black Iris - Metamorphosis Strawberry and Basil Gose Staggeringly Good - Spared no expense DIPA Going away for the weekend to a log cabin so planning on taking them with a few Vocation ones from Tesco
  16. I recently found out about an app called Video downloader for Twitter (TwDown) on android but think it could be available on apple too. Which you can copy the clip from a tweet and store in phone. Anything to go on here would require some converting or using a host site I guess, but it's useful way of stealing things of twitter.
  17. Spoke to my GP earlier about The X-ray & scan I had a few weeks ago. I was hoping it was going to be something that could be a more straight forward fix, but I have some arthritis. So it's more about trying to manage it, until it gets to the stage where I might need a knee replacement. Did an NHS self referral for physio, but don't imagine that's happening anytime soon, so need to check how much it's going to cost to do it privately.
  18. Not Royal Mail but have had it happen a couple of times to me where I've been in and waiting for something with no chance I wouldn't hear the bell or a knock and a card had been left. That said I've also had people come out when they've seen the card, and not been happy and said why didn't I knock, when I always do at least twice. Once it happened, just after having been shouted at for knocking too hard, when both would have been roughly the same. I could only imagine doing so something like that though if I didn't have a pen/ran out earlier or no cards, but I'd still have the parcel so while I was there I'd try again anyway.
  19. As a Postie, I will try a gate if there is no one in and see if there is somewhere in the back to leave a parcel, if its open. If its bolted, but I can unlock it I wouldn't do it as I do feel that's a bit intruding.
  20. Not really sure how it's worked out or whether it's been posted before. I'm certain there will be a few debatable ones too. Popular/best selling artists by English County origin.
  21. Have had ACL reconstruction on one knee, and just waiting for results on a scan on the other as having issues with that. So not directly related, I'd just say make the effort with whatever rehab you have.
  22. Things have changed a bit over time. I remember Dave Grohl being very wary of what was going on in the crowd at Reading in 2000 but this was on part because of Roskilde earlier that year. Reading didn't have a barrier other than the front, then added one further back and may now have a split in the middle too? I can't remember and not been for several years. For some events this is now also used to rip off fans and charge more. I think they are very hot on crowd control and security, risk assessments and such like in the UK but I imagine there is still some risk.
  23. I bought a can of it from Tesco and a month or 2 ago, it was about a fiver I think.
  24. Arrest after man in Gosport spotted 'having sex with dog at home with curtains open' AN ARREST has been made after horrified members of the public saw a man having sex with a dog. The News Portsmouth.co.uk
  25. It was only by chance I went in, as was visiting my Nan who needed some fags so went to the Maypole Sainsburys as its not far. They had a craft beer festival on so they were reduced too. I have had Layer Cake, thought it was OK.
