  1. get to 2 points a game under Smith and we’d finish on 82 points. Could be enough for automatic promotion this year.
  2. I think we’ll need one regardless of whether Nyland improves or not. We’ve only really got one keeper at the club. I wouldn’t even count Bunn and the other guy seems like it was just a sweetener for Mendes.
  3. Tbf Only one or two fans on here actually think he’s a good defender. I don’t think you can call that Salifou Syndrome as salifou wasn’t even really a player. I personally think Elphicks an adequate defender. Who knows. He might even gain some confidence and thrive under Smith. Would rather we sign someone then call him back though. He seems happy at Hull and has no future here. We need players that want to be here.
  4. But at least he’s a defender. Our Axel nearly gifted 2 goals on Saturday so mistakes do happen. We’ll probably release him in the summer so I think bringing him back in January will be a last resort anyway.
  5. Nothing wrong with that at all. Also wouldn’t want a player that doesn’t track back for 90 minutes either. I would however like to see a top Premier league player (if fully fit) starting games for us so the damage to the opponent can be done in the first half.
  6. I know I’m getting way ahead of myself but I just watched city united game and the way city pressed, kept the ball and kept winning the second ball back reminding me of our second half yesterday. (Obviously at a much lower level). Its such a joy to watch.
  7. True. I don’t mind him coming on around 60-70 minutes. Gives the opposition something new to think about.
  8. Will he ever be good enough for Chelsea? I think eventually they’ll let him move on.
  9. This is pure paper talk. He’s a good championship player. No way is he good enough for Bournemouth in my opinion.
  10. Can’t wait until he’s fit to play 90 minutes. Such a threat.
  11. I’m hoping there’s a clause in the contract to sign him. But as he was loaned before the new owners came in it’s unlikely.
  12. Going off topic a bit but when fit I think Laurson was the best out of all those defenders you mentioned. We only managed to sign him because of his injury problems. Had it not been for them he would have been a regular at the great Milan team of the time. As for Axel. He has the makings to be a quality defender at the highest level. Reminds me of a young Micah’s Richards at times.
  13. I feel like we’re going around in circles here mate. You can’t say it’s a great squad but we’re lacking in defence. A great squad can’t be lacking in any area!
  14. So it’s not a great squad is it mate? Sort out keeper, centre half and left back situation and then you can say we have a great squad. We should have 1 quality player and 1 adequate player for every position. Then it’s s strong squad.
  15. I have to admit I was one of those that started to believe many of players just weren’t good enough because they have been so poor for so long. But it may just be that they were managed and coached so badly for so long.
  16. If you want to see the Villa of last season look at Boro. They don’t concede much and grind out results. They’ll be up there challenges as we were under Bruce. But they’re horrible to watch.
  17. They do but I think we went there and were in complete control until 2 injuries and the game changed on its head. Smith messed up with his substitutes ( which he held his hands up for at the end of the game). Still for all their possession they scored due to a keeper error and a defensive lapse. I don’t think they’ll stay up there. But then I said that about Cardiff...
  18. Dem you need to understand a great squad is when you have strength in every position. We have some great players. Not a great squad.
  19. As Dean Smith said they look confident and have belief in themselves.
  20. Just watched his goal and it was a pure strikers goal to be fair. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh. His general play has been superb though.
  21. Tammy can play on the left too. Nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition. Appriecate other areas need to be improved first.
  22. He was hot and cold yest. Had he showed a bit more composure he could have had a hatrick. But overall he is working hard and as a team player.
  23. I’m delighted with Abraham’s overall play but he is not a finisher. Sneaky bid for Maupay?
  24. It’s mental. We’ve seen Villa, Albion Leeds. and Derby all be spanked at some points. Boro would never get spanked but they are the anti football of this league. So boring to watch. Pulis is like a Steve Bruce on steroids. If Boro win this league it will be a sad advert for football when it seems to have moved on so much.
