Anyway the point is not that Watkins might be played on the left, it’s that Smith could be referring to a front 3 as 3 ‘central’ strikers and not someone to replace Jacks position as a Left midfielder. It’s a different formation. Not sure why you’ve got such a hard on arguing this doug, I don’t want him on the left. Just interpreting what Smith has said.

It was only February when he started playing him regularly and it was weird over the top praise. Earlier in the season he kept playing him because he had to then immediately dropping him after good performances.

Wide and in 3 upfront are two different things. When he says “now we can play 3 upfront”, who are the 3 and which position do they play? Considering he called Bailey a striker and we know he plays predominantly on the right.

He did also say we could now play 3 strikers, one of which would have to be left of centre. I assume Ollie would play that role, but wouldn’t have the defensive duties of someone playing as a winger.
