  1. This seems like a real MacKenzie signing, and he found Kante and Mahrez, so it's a yes from me.
  2. I'd imagine so. He played predominantly from the right for Norwich but did his best work roaming more towards the centre in possession. No reason he couldn't do the same from the other side, as it's not like he was a touchline hugger anyway.
  3. Agreed, he's arguably been the player of pre season for me, and you don't have clubs like Dortmund and Bayern sniffinmg around before you sign your contract if you aren't high potential. Interestingly Smith said that JPB has had the ability to be a first team player for a while now, they've just been working on his end product. 2 goals and 2 assists in a disrupted pre season shows that work is paying off. Unless all our new signings are fully fit and ready to go, I'd start him at Watford on Saturday.
  4. It was more like how we played the first half of last season when Barkley played and pressed as a second striker out of posession, making it 442, but dropped in the pockets when we had the ball, becoming more of a 4231. It looked quite disjointed at first, but being as it was Ings first game that's to be expected. They did start to get in to more of a rhythm as the game went on. Ings could become really astute in that hybrid 10/striker role, but it puts alot of pressure on the centre mids as well.
  5. I don't think we are done, but I don't expect to see loads more signings. I'd like another attacking mid, but I don't think we're targeting any other attackers, unless there's any unexpected departures. But we've had at least one bid confirmed as rejected for Ward-Prowse and we were in talks for Sarr, so clearly a midfielder is still on the agenda. I expect us to bring one more centre mid in, and possibly a back up keeper.
  6. He is right footed, in the youth teams he was always cutting in and using his right. Long term I think that may be his position, but as I'm sure someone said earlier in the thread, he's flexible, and is proably on the right currently to accomodate El Ghazy staying on the left.
  7. That's his loan contract, none of our contracts end mid season.
  8. He did well on the wing today, considering he's played mainly as a full back or wing back in the last few years he showed he can easily still play in attack. He also is a superb crosser and indirect free kick taker so I'd like to see him start against Watford as well.
  9. Bet the guy who was adamant Watkins will play all season without a single injury will be sweating
  10. I thought Willock was more of a CAM? I'd like Willock but if he cones in I still think you need another deeper midfielder
  11. I still think we're looking at three more players based on who we've already had bids rejected for, but seems we are done with attacking options based on Purslows comments. I fully expect Tuanzebe to come in for the 4th centre back spot, and we will probably bring in another keeper so Sinisalo can be loaned out and continue his development. But neither of those will be for huge sums so it leaves us with a lot of financial freedom now to look at a midfielder. It's definitely the weakest area of the squad, and Dean clearly wants to address it with the bid for Ward-Prowse. I've no idea who we will get for this spot, but I'd love it if it was a Danny Ings style signing both in terms of profile and secrecy. That's the position where the big bucks need spending.
  12. Hopefully he gets some minutes on Saturday. It'd be nice to see what he's about, as he's still in the most part an unknown commodity for us.
  13. I like your ambition, but I can't see Pulisic happening. Still, last week I couldn't see Grealish leaving and Danny Ings joining so you never know.
  14. Sanson can also play 10 as well (if he's ever fit again)
  15. The speed Ings was completed we could have another couple in by the time we kick off against Sevilla.
  16. I guess his definition of fan is different to ours. Don't get me wrong, I completely understand where you're coming from, but as fans we lace everything with emotion. He probvably had to deal with the emotion, but also the fact it's a job. I don't agree with his decision, like you, if I were in his shoes I'd have stayed, but I understand why someone else would choose to leave. Ultimately there aren't many Shearer's or Le Tissier's left nowadays, this just proves it.
  17. What if you have an injury crisis like Liverpool did at centre back last season? You should have at least 2 players per position, especially with the squad sizes. Having less than 8 defenders is asking for trouble. It's just not worth the risk. It'd be a different story if you were going to bank big money for Guilbert, but we wouldn't. Might as well keep him as a solid back up.
  18. I understand this view completely, but part of the difference between him and us is that we are all fans, but he's also an elite level athlete. You don't get to those levels without incredible levels of commitment and determination. Yes he probably does feel torn and might not want to go from a fans perspective, but if you're determined enough to get to the level he has, and you have an opportunity to potentially go up even more in a new environment, it stands to reason he'd consider it, and decide it's something he wants to do. I don't want him to go, and when he does I won't be welcoming him back whenever he plays for the opposition, but similarly I won't boo him. He'll just be another athlete, another opponent. He's decided to leave where most fans wouldn't, but most fans would never be able to get to the position he's in anyway, and the traits that got him there are why this is happening.
  19. I like Conor, but if he gets anywhere near starting for us, especiually with the funds we now have available to strengthen, I'd be petrified.
  20. It's like a break up. Don't waste your time feeling angry at them or moping. That only hurts yourself. Just move on, find someone new. Plenty more Emi's and Leon's in the sea.
  21. Again you're still leaving left back short in that case and relying on Targett never getting injured or suspended whilst Young deputises at right back. For the cash you'd get I really don't see the point in selling Guilbert. He's good back up until Kesler returns next summer hopefully ready to push Cash.
  22. Guilbert? I know Axel can play right back, but he's not exactly the fittest of individuals, and if we're using him there becasue Cash is unavailable we are back to three centre backs again. Madness.
  23. I'd hope we're targeting an attacking and holding player tbh, as it looks like Tuanzebe is virtually a done deal. A couple more top quality midfielders could really make the difference.
