  1. Yep, it's a complicated business, but it seems we've been right on the brink of what's acceptable for FFP every summer since NSWE came in. £100m of pure profit (and the wage budget allocation Jack leaving frees up) should allow us to take the shackles off more. Obviously we can't go out and sign a load of ludicrous players, but it should realistically allow us to bring in another 2 or 3 quality players whilst comfortably staying within the limits. Those players could make all the difference in a European push.
  2. That's exactly what I think we'll do. I fully expect them to reinvest that cash (if Ings fee wasn't part of it) and get in a couple of big profile, instant starter level players. They want Europe, and I think they want it this season, to stop this becoming a regular occurance.
  3. This would actually be hilarious. 'Sorry pal, we can't take a risk on those shins'
  4. Probably depends if Wesley is shifted before Ings makes an appearance. He likes the number 9 shirt.
  5. Let's not say things we can't take back.
  6. It's the same as people not wanting Ashley Young. Each signing needs to be judged on it's own merits, and whilst in the main we might want young players we can improve, you do also need players ready to hit the ground running, and at least a couple of experienced heads in a youthful squad.
  7. In the unlikely event he has, he wants to hope Collymore isn't ITK as he claimed the contract was signed yesterday. No way back from that if true.
  8. No one is really sure. One sky reporter in London said he was still there, then another in Manchester saw a blacked out range rover and assumed he was in there. It's actually farcical.
  9. If he really is still in training with us then this is absolute madness. Where are all the guys who were at the hotel taking pictures when you need them?
  10. Agreed, I don't see Smith not using Watkins as his first choice. But it's nice he's finally got some real and reliable competition. Plus Ings could come in when Watkins is suspended/injured/out of form, and we have the option of playing Watkins wide left. I certainly wouldn't start games that way, but it's an option during them to switch things up.
  11. I agree regarding Ings and the injuries. At Southampton, he was required to play every minute because he had zero competition (like Watkins last season) but now he has solid competition for that spot both can breathe down each others necks, and swap in when someone is out of form. The reliance on one player was a big issue for us last season, and we risked that being the case with Watkins. This negates that, as well as hopefully making it easier to keep both fit and firing.
  12. I definitely agree we mean business and are moving the right way. Whether he stays or goes we need to be less reliant on one player and more of a unit. Hopefully Bailey, Buendia and Ings are the start of that
  13. I love your optimism mate but there's too much smoke there. I fully expect him gone, but I'd love to be proved wrong
  14. There's no way these owners would pocket the cash they want the club to be sustainable and I fully expect all the fee to be reinvested in the squad. If Ings was the start of that then there 70 to 75 million left to go
  15. He's in the final year of his contract and rejected a deal.
  16. Pretty sure Stephen the massive Norwich fan actually would care
  17. These owners really don't strike me as the type to lose interest. I think they'll relish the challenge. I also think this could be the last season you see significant use of loans in as next summer the worst restrictions on us from FFP will be lifted (the overspend from the championship)
  18. Just blind hope I think as he's still at training. For what it's worth I still think he's off, but until its a signed deal you just never know
  19. If he were to U Turn now I think Sam Lee would need to leave the country
  20. He lives locally too and wants to leave. I think there's a deal to be done there, but by the sounds of it we aren't interested. I wonder if that will change with Grealish's imminent departure.
  21. It's time to go in for Maddison. And just purely because Arsenal twitter want him. We love some twitter beef this window, time to make some more
