I honestly didn't feel that this transfer would get done, especially with the multiple ownership etc, but I am absolutely delighted that it did. Keep Vlaar and I'm far more optimistic for us doing well next season, well done Lambert.

I certainly lost faith in Lambert last season due to the consistent level of poor performances and football that I believed at times was up there with the worst I've ever season, wanting him to go. I don't believe Lambert is tactically the man to take us forward as a club. However, after this summer when at times things looked rather hopeless, I certainly appreciated him staying, as if he'd left I can't fathom to think who we would have replaced him with. I really hope he can turn it around here and that we can surprise a few people this season but ultimately, when we get taken over, a new manager should take the reigns.

I'd feel sick if he went to somewhere like QPR instead but all we can do is wait for some positive news tomorrow. The Sun is really naff in fairness, do they have a Villa specific reporter there?

Westwood may not be the greatest passer but he was comfortably our best from midfield last season. I wonder if we did sign Sanchez that El Ahmadi could possibly leave?

Yeovil had 3 shots on target, no idea how dangerous they were.

A tough tackling defensive midfielder would certainly make me more optimistic about our chances this season. Last season, Westwood had to come very deep to receive the ball off the two centre backs, playing as a poor man's Xabi Alonso. I think with Vlaar and Okore being so comfortable on the ball, this doesn't need to happen, so I'd like to see Westwood pushed further up.

Jack is something which very few of our players our and that is 'exciting'. When he gets the ball, I don't clench my butt cheeks in fear like I do with our other players, I actually think something positive may happen. I'd play him behind Bent against Stoke.

If Jack did start against Stoke (which I extremely doubt) I'd play him behind the striker. Away from home we'll just be defending for the majority of the game. I don't see the point is persisting with Weimann who offers so little.

So am I, it's great having such an exciting prospect but Jack is starting to really show some of the 'first teamers' up.

Our attackers are far too happy at doing simple but very ineffectual things. Also, whats with Westwood's passing, very poor today.
