  1. I don't agree with this. When he can't even get the basics right including organisation then there is fundamentally a problem. If we had a manager with a little creativity then maybe that will transfer onto the pitch as we clearly have zero. His approach to motivating the team is clapping madly on the touchline. Again, Southampton being the prime example, many others believe this to be a fluke victory. A have seem some people praise Lambert's tactics for this match but there are certainly others that disagree. As for the second part, I remember thinking that numerous times last season and Chelsea away springs to mind this season. I think we have played poorly far more times than we've played well. I'd even argue with a poorer team then it relies even heavily on the manager to get them playing above their potential. That to me would be a sign of a good manager. I maybe in the minority but Laudrup for me is someone I believe would be realistic and offer us more.
  2. It's Lambert's direct and no plan B approach that really does it for me, if we played better football but were still struggling then I'd have some optimism he could improve things with more time/money etc. Tactically the man just isn't good enough.
  3. I wonder if there will be another Q&A between the fans and Lambert in pre season? There certainly won't be the same level of optimism, unless there have been some adequate signings.
  4. The squad is doing the opposite of developing, with only Delph and Vlaar having any significant improvement over last season. To various degrees, Lowton, Westwood, Sylla, Agbonlahor, Wiemann, Benteke have all performed worse than last season (Baker, Clark and Bennett have been slightly better but are awful) and this is why I personally feel Lambert has a problem motivating/developing the squad. Combine this to the worst football this club has seen for years plus dire tactics then I really can't see many positives about Lambert. You can complain about funds as much as you like (obviously Lerner is an even bigger problem) but Lambert seems perfectly happy being his yes man whom matches Lerner's no ambition, hence talk of a new contract. Also, the fact a make shift right back is our second highest goal scorer really worries me without Benteke.
  5. I'm not sure our squad really is developing, with only Delph and Vlaar having significant improvement over last season. 6. Just got back from the game, why we didn't shut up shop at 1-1 I don't know. For a home team, against bottom of the league, how open we were was shambolic. Bennett started well then as soon as he made one of his usual awful mistakes, it completely affected his game. I think mentally he can't handle the pressure. Grant Holt was far our best player which was worrying and he did pretty much what you'd ask from him. Bacuna also had a decent game. Everyone else was poor too average which I think sums them up quite well. I have to say just how awful Baker is. He has two attributes, bravery and 50/50 headers. If he is given time to header, the amount of time he headed aimlessly to a Fulham player was unbelievably bad. He has zero composure on the ball (nearly gifted them a goal) and as soon as any pace came on, he simply couldn't cope. How he starts beyond Clark is beyond me and if Lambert rates him that lowly, I'd hope he sells them both. I still think we are involved in this relegation scrape and I'm certainly not optimistic someone like Gabby coming back will save us. If we do stay up and we get similar levels of investments as the last too seasons, then the writing really is on the wall. Too many players just aren't good enough and with are better players coming back from long injuries, who knows how they will perform.
  7. Bloody Lambert, we've been saying all season we needed another big striker signed up...
  8. Previously, I've noticed when another player scored for us, Christian doesn't really celebrate but he seemed far more animated with Delph's goal yesterday, which I think is a positive sign when showing if a player is happy at their club. If we get an offer from a strong Champions League club in the Summer I think he'll go in all honesty but I can't see him handing in a request himself. Would love to have him for another season.
  9. Been consistently brilliant this season, delighted for him.
  10. I'm happy to say well done to the team and the manager today, was a great win after Benteke's moment of brilliance. Do I still want Lambert to go, yes, after too many poor performances he will need a strong finish for my opinion to change. 2 more wins and we should be okay. With the City game moved, our upcoming run in doesn't look as formidable.
  11. I'm surprised the fans haven't turned on Lambert/Lerner more to be honest. Almost as if the last few seasons has left them resigned to our current level and there being a 'at least he isn't Mcleish' mentality.
  12. Who has Lambert signed on "inflated" wages? For all his faults I don't think that's one of them, probably because he hasn't really had that much to spend on wages in the first place. We also need to remember that we're on the same amount of points as Swansea even now. I'm all for their style of play but it hasn't achieved anything better than ourselves so far this season. True but I'd rather have a team capable of excellent football and being attractive to watch than the way we set out. I'm going off topic now though. Me too, but it wouldn't exactly be excellent football if it is only as successful as the stuff that we play. Both teams are still in a relegation battle. My main gripe with Lambert is the football we play (Crystal Palace at home was a real low for me). If we had more creativity and invention I'd certainly be more confident we'd be okay this season and have some faith that he could turn it around.

  14. Who has Lambert signed on "inflated" wages? For all his faults I don't think that's one of them, probably because he hasn't really had that much to spend on wages in the first place. I agree it would be a bigger ask than what he did at Swansea but to be honest I have less faith Lambert could provide a positive philosophy for the club. I'm sure there are other people who'd want someone else though.
  15. And how much did bony cost? £12 million, pretty good deal. Exactly. He's not gonna get that at villa. Michu was 2 million, might not get that though.
  16. And how much did bony cost? £12 million, pretty good deal.
  17. Personally I would have Laudrup in the summer, assuming he is available, Bony was a brilliant signing (19 goals I think now) and the football would improve immensely.
  18. Though it is clear Westwood and Bertrand were not taken off for tactical reasons (Lambert isn't that awful, I think), the two players that did come on are clearly not good enough and Lambert has to take responsibility for that. Also, that bench is devoid of any options and having Grant Holt sitting there as the guy to get us a goal just sums up are current level of ambition and quality. Front 3 are extremely frustrating, both with their decision making and desire to make something happen. Lambert not changing it tactically when Newcastle were on top was is what cost us that point. Whether we stay up or not, it more depends on how bad everyone else does but if our home form doesn't improve, we will deserve to go. And I still think the board would keep him! Time to go in the summer please.
  19. He doesn't even win the ball in the air. Waste of space, awful signing.
  20. I'm sure Lambert would have played the full backs centrally if he could. We had Weimann, Benteke, Gabby, Delph, Westwood and Bacuna who were all pretty much central.
  21. Although the two goals conceded were down to the players themselves, Lambert got it all wrong today. West Ham are clearly a defensive side and we are shocking at breaking teams down due to no AM. So our best chance was to put crosses it from out wide, show by the second half performance (well played Marc). Things I just don't understand; 1) What was the game plan behind playing so narrow? 2) Why play Gabby down the middle when he is much more effective out wide at home? 3) If we are pumping crosses into the box, why take off our best crosser, Lowton? 4) Why did we sign Grant Holt again, he doesn't even win it in the air? These performances are very worrying, they are the performances of a side that just simply isn't good enough. If we went down, I could only see Vlaar, Benteke and possibly Delph leaving which just shows what a championship side we have (assuming Gabby would stay more out of loyalty than ability). We can't keep relying on our away form. The biggest worry for me is that last season we beat all the teams around us, this season has almost been the opposite.
  22. Gabby coming back from injury and is better on the counter attack. Could Helenius have taken one or two of the Benteke chances? Yeah I agree, he is only effective out wide at home but Lambert for no good reason played as narrow as possible today. Well we will never know as Lambert won't play him so our only hope is Holt leads the line. Benteke it is then.
  23. People who say drop Benteke, who for? At least he has the ability to play well. Gabby has done absolutely nothing today.
  24. Lambert is clueless. How Laudrup gets sacked and Lambert backed is beyond me.
