  1. 3.5 years according to Gregg Evans, so we still have no idea on the length...
  2. Has it been reported anywhere how long his contract is?
  3. I don't know if I've missed a longer video, but I think it was very telling that there was no mention of Gerrard by the interviewer. Especially as Dendoncker is a midfielder, you always get the cliche "And how excited are you to play for Steven Gerrard, who played in a similar position to you?". Also Dendoncker mentioned 'the manager' very briefly in the interview but that was excluded in the little write up. Basically I just want Gerrard out.
  4. Maybe he should have got our 'play going' against the newly promoted team who lost 9-0 last week and got their only win against us. Maybe he should have got our 'play going' against a side we are expecting to be competing with, yet didn't get near them in our game. Maybe he should have got 'our 'play going' against the side who hadn't scored, yet alone won until they played us, again their only win this season. We look utterly aimless on the pitch, sadly we are starting to look aimless off it too. Gerrard Out.
  5. Don't know why you're so excited when you've just said it isn't happening...
  6. I agree that Sarr is a good player, however my major reservations are that we already have good players that Gerrard can't fit into his 'formation' and are being wasted.
  7. I was hoping with a full pre season and his first Summer Transfer Window, Gerrard would be able to put his stamp/philosophy on the team. However, there clearly is no philosophy, no game plan and our shortcomings are so glaringly obvious yet they do not get addressed. We were woeful today, this is the poorest performance since...well, Bournemouth, where we were a disgrace. There is no where on the pitch where we are performing well and we quickly seem to be getting worse. Defensively, we are not a unit, Palace were able to get in so easily today, through the middle, sides. Set piece defending is also shambolic, we got lucky against Everton and we got lucky on multiple occasions today. Our Midfield has been well documented but how on Earth the Manager can persist with McGinn and Ramsey, both who were so poor again today. I have so little faith that he repeats the same mistakes again and again, and one that is so obviously glaring. There is no cohesion to our attacking play, we rely on some individual brilliance (Ings, Buendia vs Everton) but I can't remember the last time I watched us where we would cause a team numerous consistent problems by the way we attacked. I love Emi but it's pointless when he barely gets on the ball. My major worry is at what point do we go again with someone else because to me, at this point, it's inevitable. Things have started to turn sour, the handling of the captaincy was really unprofessional and Gerrard has already started getting defensive in conferences. I'm not even someone who is desperate for European football, I'm still so happy to be back in the Premier League, that a season of no relegation concerns and attractive football keeps me happy (for now). What I find most frustrating is that I think, in terms of individual quality, we easily have the best squad since O'Neil era, yet we are throwing it away with someone in charge who looks so out of their depth.
  8. https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2022/april/26/ramsey-pens-new-contract/ Aston Villa is delighted to announce Jacob Ramsey has signed a new contract with the club. The 20-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal until 2027. A product of the Aston Villa Academy, the midfielder has been with the club since the age of six and progressed through the ranks, making his senior debut against West Bromwich Albion in 2019. After a short loan spell with Doncaster Rovers, Ramsey made his Premier League bow last term at Fulham before making his full debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers. He would go on to make 22 appearances in the top-flight in 2020/21 and has been a regular in the heart of midfield for Villa this season. He scored his first goal for the club at Arsenal in October, since adding five more goals to his tally. Great news for him.
  9. According the the Birmingham Mail (I know, I know), Luiz did play and set up Mings' Header.
  10. Some of the reactions on here are almost as bad as the performance, it's like people are desperate to be negative. Anyway, some thoughts on the game. 1st half we were very poor, I think what's most disappointing is the players that were consistent last season were dreadful. Targett is the obviously one but I though Cash ran him pretty close. Konsa was also well below par with Dennis running him ragged. It's obviously we need time to get the new players to gel, we know Buendia is a fabulous player but he looked very ineffective, much improved second half out wide. Ings didn't get a sniff and we really did create very little for him, I think a big part of how well we do this season is how he links up with Watkins. We were better second half (not saying much) and the changes all made a difference, especially Bailey who will hopefully help with that lack of chance creation. I still think we are lacking a number 10 if we go 4-2-1-3 and that showed, Norwich fans were very unanimous about his best position not being central. I also really hope we never line up with McGinn and Nakamba line up together again. I know we have both Luiz and Sanson to come back but if this results means we go all out for Ward-Prowse, I think we'll be a far better side.
  11. Thank God it wasn't McGinn's arse playing him onside. (If this joke has already been made I apologise).
  12. Very disappointing result but I don't feel I can be too disappointed with the majority of that performance. Burnley were peak Burnley, scored a bit of a fluke and an incredible header but we are so far ahead of them in footballing ability I'm glad I wasn't supporting the team in Claret & Blue for once. Some of the best football I have ever seen us play first half, we should have been 3-0 up and Pope had a great game. We also showed plenty are heart and battling spirit, didn't shirk the physical side and kept trying to play. Grealish was exceptional, Watkins got his goal and on another day (similar to at home) we would have been out of sight. It's remarkable that even when we lose to a side on paper we should beat, I just love watching us right now.
  13. Wonderful performance, we really look like we are battling for each other out there, if someone loses it, there are another 2 to close down. And we look so threatening going forward, I would have taken the point but the belief in this team meant they kept pushing for a winner. It's so nice to have such a difficult decision voting MOTM, not because everyone was pants, but because so many played well. We are looking like a proper team now.
  14. His cross second half when Watkins hit the bar was superb but his assist for the really important 4th goal was also underrated, not easy to do on your weaker foot. I'm happy for him, has his limitations but works incredibly hard, happy to give better players the ball and can pop up with a key goal or two.
  15. Players we already know aren't good enough weren't good enough. A lot of those were borderline starters last year and won't be this year, that is a good thing.
  16. Still can't believe Elphick burst out of the trophy like that.
  17. He is definitely following all 3, I have just checked.
  18. I still feel/hope this one will go through today. Brentford seem to have their replacements lined up and if Said does want to leave, they will want to cash in on him now while his stock is so high. People saying that we have announced McGinn's new contract to soften any disappointment but I would also argue that if we didn't have anyone lined up today, we may have saved Douglas' confirmation.
  19. There was a behind closed doors friendly today that Marvelous played in.
  20. Until we know the actual terms of the buyback clause (which we may never find out) I don't think it is something particularity worth fretting about. Very exciting player to be linked with.
  21. This really bugs me, I think they have only officially announced Jota's and Steer's contract lengths. Don't know if anyone more knowledgeable would have an insight why as for the majority of other clubs, this isn't the case?
  22. Strange that the contract length hasn't been announced, don't recall they ever confirmed for Hause either.
