  1. I would have liked Rickie Lambert, his arrival may have given Benteke a kick up the back side and I don't think Robinson is going to get a chance. Although I'd gotten my hopes up that we may get a couple in today, overall I think it has been a pretty decent window for us. Lambert needs to pull his finger out and get the best out of what he's got now.
  2. Steve Kean and Alan Pardew to name two recent ones. I'd add Sam Allardyce too.
  3. I have no idea either, except that Cleverley will start. Interestingly, if Lambert did go and as we have no Assistant Manager, who would take charge as caretaker manager? Probably Gabby knowing our luck.
  4. He's cup tied. I'm pretty miffed he was brought back from his loan.
  5. With Gil signing and now Delph (plus seemingly Cleverley not), this has been one of the best January's for a long time.
  6. Robinson can't play, cup tied.
  7. I'd rest Cissokho and Richardson would offer more going forward, so when Jack cuts inside he'd maintain the width for us. I wouldn't play him in the league however.
  8. I don't think having to run the channels would necessarily be a bad thing for him either though, as he has played out wide a lot, can actually beat a player and has a good amount of pace.
  9. Guzan Hutton Okore Clark Richardson Sanchez Gil Delph Weimann Grealish Benteke I normally berate Weimann but he linked up well with Gil against 'plop and a confidence boost would especially do him a world of good. I wouldn't even have Cleverley on the bench.
  10. Yeah, plenty of "we want Lambert out" I think the only very slim chance of him going is sustained pressure from the fans.
  11. I heard the "don't know what you're doing" chants, were there any "Lambert out" ones?
  12. For me, this is the worst result under Lambert, eclipsing Bradford and Chelsea. We have become as dour and unexciting as the manager himself and with all the teams below us scoring and easily outscoring us, I'm concerned relegation is a real possibility. And that really isn't acceptable, given the squad we have and how poor the Premier League is at the moment. Lambert is just not getting the most out of the players and has failed tactically for far too long, evident again today. He is incapable of making any changes that affect the game in a positive manner, always reacting to other changes and never putting us on the front foot. The guy is absolutely woeful in this area. I'd say his best strength has been in the transfer market but I don't care who we sign this January, as I have zero faith in the manager getting anything out of them. He hasn't developed anybody here, brought through any younger players and argubally, our best player this season was banished last (if this is argued down to Lerner then I will add growing a pair to his list of must improve). Now although I'm not Lamberts biggest fan in the world, I'd always say the team gives everything for him but I don't think so today. I've never seen so many players ambling back, losing out on 50 50s and being beaten by a much more desirable team. I wish Lerner would give a number 2 and sack him but I know that just won't happen. We are a joke of a club, why don't we have an assistant yet? I detest watching the runny number 2 we serve at the moment, we've blown easy winnable fixtures so I think we are going to find ourselves in a lot of trouble in a few weeks.
  13. Before the game I would have been really disappointed with a draw, now I'm desperate for one. Really really poor.
  14. Leicester are without Mahrez and Schlupp too, whom are going to the African Cup of Nations. We really need a win here, I wouldn't be too happy with a draw.
  15. I was in the Lower North but can't say I heard any out chants. Lots of booing at half time and sarcastic cheers when we had our first shot on target though.
  16. Just got back from the game, which was pretty painful to watch. We started well, and by that I mean the first 5 minutes and that was it. The same problems as the last few games were horribly evident, with zero creativity or energy going forward. For the first 20 minutes, Westwood was sitting as deep as Okore and Clark but thankfully got a bit further forward in the second. As for chances created, Given was the busier keeper although we did look relatively comfortable throughout. Our first meaningful shot was from Sanchez about 30 yards out and their keeper made a great save off Benteke but we really didn't look like scoring until his moment of quality. Tactically, we were pretty naff in all honesty. Aforementioned, we basically had 3 at the back with the idea of pushing on the full backs as much as possible. This didn't work as Aly really isn't strong going forward and with both Cole and Grealish cutting inside, it was very narrow. Cole looked the brightest but faded second half. The movement was appealing, with no midfielder looking to get beyond there defence so we just tapped it around amongst themselves. What worries me is not one player in particular played badly, but collectively it was a poor performance. I'd like to think that goal could kick start us but yet again, like his other 2 goals this season, it was a moment of magic from Benteke. I have to add, I normally dont criticise referees but Foy was shocking. We should have had a free kick/penalty first half which was a blatant foul (just not sure where it took place) and he gave nothing.
  17. That's a shame, really wanted to see him up top with Benteke, this really irritates me.
  18. The best thing about Cleverley is that he really draws attention to how good Sanchez is.
  19. You realise you and the rest of ye are in the minority. No boos, no Lambert out chants. We're 12th and have made progress in many areas this season. No boos? Think you might want to correct that. We have zero consistency, we put in a half decent performance one week and then the next it is awful. We are 4 points off 11th, 3 points off 16.
  20. I'd play quite a strong team, we need some goals desperately which will hopefully boost confidence. Given Lowton Okore Clark Cissokho Bacuna Sanchez Cleverley Grealish Benteke Robinson
  21. What was the point in recalling Robinson? He was in red hot form for PNE which has now been completely wasted. Another mind boggling decision from this football club, I don't think I can add young player development to one of Lambert's skill-sets.
  22. For the umpteenth time Gabby and Weimann just doesn't work, especially at home against a team you know will sit deep. I normally think he is bad but I thought Gabby was astonishingly awful today, I hate that he is our captain when there is no Vlaar. Benteke should have scored but I find it so worrying just how little we create and how little we score when we have a striker who is one of the best we have had for years. Another nothing performance by Cleverley, whom I'm starting to think isn't that much like Westwood at all, as I like Westwood a lot. We have no urgency, no movement off the ball, no ambition on the ball and the only player who actually takes a risk and makes something happen is a 19 year old. The lack of goals could get really harmful soon and I have zero faith in the manager correcting it. Happy New Year.
