  1. Ah, what a lovely result. A ray of light in an otherwise shitty season
  2. The outrageous treatment of the poor and the starving worldwide by secular governments and big corporations would suggest that, just maybe, religion is not the be all and end of of evil that some people on here like to think it is. Capitalism is responsible for some astonishing abuse of the land and the people living on it. WW1 and WW2 were hardly religious wars. Stalin.. Pol Pot... etc etc. Religion is merely a side effect of the main problem - humans. We are - especially when we form nations/tribes/etc - cruel, territorial, power-hungry greedy idiots. Religion seems to me to have very little bearing on our propensity to behave in this manner.
  3. If I was in Bent's shoes you wouldn't see me for dust. England striker, one of the most prolific ever in the league... why the **** would you want to stay at Villa right now? Our only goal now seems to be not getting relegated, Liverpool might be a mess but compared to us they look like Barcelona. We're an entirely different club to what we were when he joined.
  4. I agree but any protesters must make sure that: 1) They don't upset the players (poor little lambs); 2) They 'Support the Lads' (because obviously we would have gone down this season if it hadn't been the case); and 3) They don't make Villa look 'Smalltime' (whatever the **** that means). Numbering arguments is smalltime
  5. I think you'll find he's on a 3 year contract. So he DOES have a job next season... until the club tell him otherwise.
  6. As the top comment says.. kicking racism out of football!
  7. All those strippers don't come cheap.
  8. Isn't this "Villa non-exec speaking to a fan-forum" in 2010 just referring to what Krulak said on this very site? This story has gone on so long it's now come entirely full circle! I thought everybody knew by now that MON left cos Randy gave Faulkner his car parking spot?
  9. Ouch. He ain't gonna be earning much more from his football.
  10. Very unlikely. There is absolutely nothing to gain from keeping him here. I think its more likely than unlikely. I think there will be about 8 players leaving in the summer and about the same in. I think McLeish will be given a season to work with "his" team. I think he will do what he did at Rangers and replace the overpaid troublemakers with European Bosman signings. I dont think Lerner will pay for another manegerial change either Sadly I think this is correct. I would **** love to be entirely wrong!
  11. Well there was no logic in his appointment, so I'm not sure we can apply it to his leaving!
  12. Bollocks. I saw us linked with Henry, and for a couple of seconds thought they meant Thierry. Haven't seen much of Karl to be fair, but whenever I have he seems like a poor man's Robbie Savage. Exciting times to be a Villa fan.
  13. Indeed. Now we're safe I can see McLeish getting another season to prove himself, kick out some dead wood and bring in some (cheap) new players. Which is a horrendous prospect, but I think pretty realistic. Another season of pain and frustration awaits. Still, just imagine what he could do if he was backed.
  14. Like 9 out of 10 FA Cup finals, I'm sure this will be an absolute load of wank. No way I'm staying up 'til 1am for this!
  15. Just what I was thinking... Yes but Aston is not a town anymore. If you live in Aston, you write your address as Birmingham, not Aston. According to wiki, Aston is a town within the city of Birmingham. Perhaps we should call the club Aston (Birmingham) Villa.
  16. Would not be adverse to that Would certainly give the whole area a buzz again Maybe a good compromise would be DiCanio. Not quite as nutty, but does look like he knows what he's doing.
  17. Wouldn't mind Bilic, think he'd be a good shout. Also happy with Martinez, Curbishley (sorry folks) or Lambert. But frankly, after experiencing McLeish then as long as he's gone I'm not sure I care who takes over now. Maybe this was Randy's plan all along, lower the expectations!
  18. All too true, sadly.
  19. Funny how we keep getting linked with managers with close ties to MON.
  20. Yet even so, he'll be going some to do a worse job that Capello did at the World Cup.
  21. Ok, congrats on some of those To be fair, he's only got one right (maybe 2 if United win the league) Not that I'm complaining, I didn't even enter. Rooney is still in the race to be top scorer too! He is 2 goals behind RVP with 3 games to play. Ah yes.. for some reason I had it in my head that Southampton won the Championship. Doh.
