  1. Yep as said by everyone Hourihan has to go. Been very average. Also a bit concerned by Albert’s work rate since the goal. Need to use all 3 subs here I think
  2. Terry getting caught with a through ball turning and running back towards goal. Always going to be an issue with older central defenders. Thankfully Chester was there to come across.
  3. They certainly aren’t holding back with the tackles. A few nasty ones breaking the game up in the last 10mins
  4. Takes the pressure off as much as it puts it on. It’s a chance created by others by ultimately the lads should be focused on winning and 3 points tomorrow irrespective of other results
  5. Awful refereeing there, can’t be pulling that back for the foul when the ball is still in the box! Cardiff robbed of 2 points. We’ll take it though! Surprised they haven’t dropped off more to be honest. Always expected Cardiff and Sheffield Utd go drop back. Utd have, Cardiff not quite
  6. We can target both sides with Grealish and Snodgrass. Probably the best wide players we've had since Young and Downing, can punish a defender both inside and outside. The stars are aligning for me on us winning this comfortably, we're the better side, better players, in form, full house, players fired up by Bruce's return from bereavement wanting to do him proud. Sure a derby is a leveller but we will take a lot of levelling at this point, we've lost once (I think?) at home in the league all season. A confident win (2 or 3) to nil for me. Could be considered partizan however!
  7. Wish this wasn't on Sunday, it's so long to wait!

    John Terry

I understand he's studying for his coaching badges at present. I imagine that probably aids his understanding of the technical side of the game further. Although he's always been a player that has stood out for his natural understanding and reading of the game rather than any particularly dominant physical characteristics. I read a while back that Bayern Munich support players to gain coaching qualifications whilst still playing as they believe this furthers not only their career after the game, but also during. I believe Philipp Lahm was one example given - not a bad example right. I would wholeheartedly support JT beginning his coaching career at Villa although my head tells me he would be more likely to go to Chelsea. There's a chance they wouldn't have a role for him there however. I used to think he was a bit of a .... but I actually now hold quite a bit of admiration for the guy. Funny thing that...
  9. Them losing on penalties would be the perfect preparation
  10. So this is what the next 3 months are going to be. Willing each and every other team in the championship to win to suit our needs! Already feels like hard work. Come on Bolton!
  11. Scoring 12 in a Sunderland side in the lower reaches of the table is some feat. You would have thought they would have been desperate to keep him? Of the goals I’ve seen, they seem like very basic bread and butter finishes. Nothing curling into top corners, just composure when in 1-1 situations against a keeper. I think he’ll be a useful option if say we wanted to play two strikers, need to rest Hogan or pick up an injury. These next few months are about one thing and one thing only, promotion. The more options we have to vary our play or cover certain positions, the more likely we are to be successful. He can take a penalty also which may be important in the playoffs. Astute use of the loan market in my view.
  12. So what are the chances of Kodjia on the bench?? Too soon? EDIT: Just realised the update said he will play with the under 23s this Monday. Thought it said he did play with them last Monday...
  13. Amavi started for Marseille against Monaco yesterday. He was taken off at half time however when they were 4-0 down. Monaco went on to win 6-1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41064133
  14. My first away game and on my birthday so villa loss written all over
  15. Ashton Gate is about 30mins walk from the city centre, mostly separated by terraced housing so parking between the two or around the ground isn't really an option as far as I'm aware. Of the car parks in the city centre, I would probably recommend the College Street Car Park behind city hall. Bit of a walk but it's around the harbour so quite enjoyable with a few decent pubs if you take the right route. There are also car parks closer to the harbour at millennium square but likely more expensive and not significantly closer. Hope that helps. Bristol is a bit of a nightmare for traffic and driving, with Friday nights being worst of all..!
  16. Surely they wouldn't let him go for £6m when they got £10-12m for Hogan? I don't feel they are in that much need of the cash. They are building a new stadium at present. Would be bizarre to sell one of your best players to a direct rival on the cheap.
  17. Leicester won the Premier League last year and have made it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League without dominating possession or most other stats. When it comes down to it, in 90minutes if you score two goals and the other team score none, very little else matters. If this continues game after game, again, very little little else matters! We look really strong at the minute. It's primarily down to SB forming a good defensive unit which communicates well and benefitting from a clinical, skilful striker who is on form and clearly backs himself in most situations.
  18. And on recent form, Hutton also. You would also surely have Hogan out there by now, even if he isn't in the first 11 on form
  19. This will be an interesting match and isn't as unbalanced as league positions suggest. Whilst we've lost a lot of players through injury, we do still have a decent enough team with a fair bit of momentum. Thankfully we haven't lost players in defensive positions, nor from the spine of the team which should ensure the game remains tight. The wide positions and up top are more interchangeable. Huddersfield have a lot more to lose than we do which could favour us. Kodjia is evidently capable of something special at any point. Think we have a chance of nicking a result if we don't concede in the first half. Lets see how it goes. Great to be getting this much football as we needed to turn things around and build some character and momentum.
  20. Thought Grealish was decent when he came on. The game was crying out for him far earlier. Would like to see him start next match although probably will be at the expense of Green. As bad as Adomah's been, he's scored and assisted more previously so probably keeps his place. Also Bree in for Hutton surely?! And Jedinak for Thor.
  21. Good players do not make a good team, and when they do, they rarely do so overnight
  22. Poor team selection for me but also can't solely blame Bruce. Our defence has been shocking and we have continually given the ball away needlessly all over the pitch. There's no calmness or control on this game
  23. Brought back fond memories of his finish against Liverpool for us when Benteke set him up at Anfield a few years ago. He was always a favourite of mine. Quite an inflexible player and difficult to fit into a system but if you have the right player around him and they are playing well, he can be great on his day.
  24. Just tweeted (post Bjarnason) another 99% + 50%. One would presume 99% is Hourihane. Lord knows what the 50% is now!
