  1. Is it just me or does anyone else think he looks slightly unwell? Bags beneath the eyes and that beard. Has he dyed it? Saying that - welcome Henri. You'll be even more welcome when you start racking up the goals and assists. Sounds like we still need another slightly more creative/attacking central mid
  2. As far as I'm concerned Villa aren't playing this weekend. I'll probably check the score Sunday evening and be delighted with anything better than a 3-0 loss. Hate to be so negative but that's how I'm feeling. I'm amazed with the amount of away tickets sold. Proof our away support is genuinely sadistic/unreal dependent on how you look at it
  3. Very talented player capable of changing a game. Does need to apply himself more. Got to remember he's still only 21 and seems to be improving under Bruce's management.
  4. The teams above us (Leeds included) have been earning points at similar rates despite us having won a few lately. As such, we have risen up the table fairly slowly. We need to start beating the teams around and above us in order to stand a chance of reaching the playoff spots. We haven't lost at home all season, including against Newcastle and I think we may benefit from having played Leeds already. I also feel we have a bit more quality in our side, with the likes of Kodija, Ayew and Grealish capable of producing something special to separate the teams. Yet we can can be disorganised at times, particularly in midfield. I'm hopeful and somewhat optimistic that if our midfield remain tight and work hard, we will get a favourable result. Looking forward to the game. Festive period under the floodlights with a decent crowd, should be a good match!
  5. Judging by the seat plan for available tickets on our website, approximately 35-36k
  6. Tickets in the Upper Trinity Road at £37! Wish we could reduce the price to encourage a sell out.
  7. Wouldn't mind some pics of a full VP if everyone comes across anything!
  8. Think a lot of folks, such as myself who are away for Christmas or can't get to Villa Park on Boxing Day due to trains not running will be going to the Leeds game. So despite being on Sky, I still think sales will be good.
  9. Just noticed the Upper Trinity is available to buy tickets for the Leeds game on the 29th as well via the official site
  10. Didn't expect a great deal (no pun intended) from this transfer window but Tony's tweets suggest they will be looking to support Bruce in the market and do business where there is business to be done. I guess Bruce would have sought reassurance of that before coming as from my understanding that's partly why he left Hull? Here's to an exciting window.
  11. Likely to be either 4th or 5th, close between us and Chelsea for 4th. Theoretically we have the higher capacity so if it's sold out and everyone shows up then we should be 4th highest attendance in the country. Very impressive given our current position and recent history.
  12. Wasn't Reading the last time we played midweek? Hopefully that's a good sign.
  13. Norwich fans are unhappy, not only with results (lost 6 in 7) but with the board and club also. They are a reasonable side, should probably finish in the top 6 but the situation there seems far from settled at present. Think if we can get an early goal or two, it could turn nasty. Equally, if they are holding onto a goal lead in the second half and we rally, the nerves will be high for them. Ultimately another 3 points would be lovely for our position but a draw wouldn't be a bad outcome at all. Looking forward to it.
  14. 4th win in a row at home and a worldy. Best we've had in a long while. Can't complain too much. Onwards and upwards.
  15. In fairness Origi (one of the highest rated young strikers in Europe over the last few seasons) made both goals, even if that 17 year old took the headlines by finishing the second off. I did think their keeper looked a little suspect however. He's not a big lad and didn't come for a few which you might have expected him to. I'm sure Bruce will have been watching closely. Quite an advantage for us really both in terms of their fitness and seeing how they play and set up. Reckon we'll win.
  16. Think Stockdale kept them in it. Very impressed by us, especially the last half hour. Hope Bruce doesn't start with gabby again. See the idea but he just isn't comparable to Ayew for quality. Also think we have to get Grealish on the pitch more. He's looking very good. Good performance, away at a promotion rival and still unbeaten under Bruce. Not bad, not bad at all.
  17. The redevelopment of Stamford Bridge (http://www.dezeen.com/2015/12/02/herzog-de-meuron-submits-plans-chelsea-football-stadium-redesign-london/) is leading the way for me in terms of current football stadia. It's respectful of the architecture within the surrounding area. It's grand and iconic yet simplistic and attractive. Overall, reflects the character of the area very well. I'd love to see redevelopment of the North Stand, capturing some of character of the Holte End. Not mimicking it in scale, but just in terms of design and materials. A sort of smaller, modern interpretation of the Holte with some top class facilities. It's at the right end to build in additional functions such as a redesigned club shop, museum and add hospitality. Think it would be a real draw for fans. I work in development and planning (in Bristol, rather than Brum) and would love to see what Tony has in mind. Was very impressed one of his first visits was to Birmingham City Council. Always good to have the authorities on side in this business. There's lots going on at the minute in Birmingham so will be interested to see what he can get involved with.
  18. I wouldn't say we look like scoring another either... Need a change
  19. Hope it's solely encouragement than any form of tactical advice
  20. Whilst winning on Sunday is important for many many reasons, taking 3 points off a team above us in the table is key now for us to rise and finish top 6 or higher.

    Pre-match thread

I remember being at that West Ham home game. It was just after the general election so the atmosphere amongst my group was pretty shocked and low. From what I remember we dominated West Ham that day as well. Oh how things have changed both politically and at Villa in the relatively short time since. Didn't think it could get much worse at that point...
  22. Was just eying that up and couldn't help wondering where we'll be if we beat Fulham on Saturday
  23. Thank god. Can only hope this is a turning point. Team selection didn't fill me with joy and not convinced we can rely on last minute penalties every week. I'll take it though. Sometimes it's only the result that matters and going home with 3 points
