  1. Anyone got any bets on? Could be a chance to make some easy money here. I've stuck £20 on a treble of Liverpool to win, Liverpool to be winning at half time and over 5.5 goals in the game. Might be worth getting stuck in before the bookies catch on if anyones interested in that type of thing
  2. Met Jack Grealish one early morning in March of this year, we exchanged details as he'd just reversed into my vehicle. Nice bloke, odd taste in footwear.
  3. Plastic fans of big clubs seem to think that were jealous of them when the complete opposite is true. If anything I pity them, they've never felt what I felt the first time my dad walked me to the ground from Aston station, they may get to win things but they don't have anything like the emotional investment that I do. Their big wins will never be as sweet as our small ones. There's not been much success in the 22 years I've been going Villa Park, but I wouldn't want to support any other team.
  4. Really wouldn't be surprised to find out there were people there at both games who had switched allegiance from Utd to City at some point between 2010 and 2020
  5. Voted for Man City owing to the cup final last year - no emotion at all after just winning a cup, don't think they sang a single song all day and there seemed to be more Villa still in the stadium clapping the team off than City fans staying around to watch the trophy being presented. Taking plastic to a whole new level. Arsenal would be right up there too, hard to imagine a more entitled set of fans. Because of where they are in North London they seem to attract a load of nauseating media personalities as fans too - saw a quote which stated "only people who don't like football support Arsenal" and tbh I think there's a lot of truth in that. It's a tricky one this because context is important. Brummie Liverpool 'fans' are probably my least favourite group of glory supporters, and tend to know the least about football IME. But I have a lot of respect for actual Liverpool fans and the way they've historically come together for things like the J4T96 and don't find them anywhere near as bad as fans of Man U, Man City or Arsenal. Newcastle don't like us but I can't bring myself to hate them as ultimately I can empathise with their plight (terrible ownership, just treading water to collect the PL money etc.)
  6. Depressing. A distant relation of mine is currently in a very bad way in hospital with the virus, pretty much 50/50 if they make it back out again. They had been very deep into the Bill Gates/covid is a hoax type conspiracies and when they woke up in hospital the other day were apparently completely beside themself for their stupidity in not listening to the warnings. I can only hope that this lot in your WhatsApp group don't have to go through the same realisation.
  7. Think he'll walk if he doesn't get exactly what he wants in Jan. Stuck a tenner on him being next manager to leave (you can still get 14/1 if anyone's interested - massively down on a week ago)
  8. Frustrating night but so many positives, we really have the makings of a great team here but as others have said, a lack of depth will hold us back this year. Thought a few of them looked a bit leggy last night, which is no surprise really after the immense effort put in over the last week. While we probably deserved a draw, we rode our luck at times and Pogba should've really put them 3-1 up at one point. It was a soft penalty, but if were honest we've had a couple of them ourselves this season and will continue to do so with the way that we play. No need to fear anyone in this league as on our day we match them all. Think we will continue to pick up points during this tough run and then who knows what happens after that. Exciting times to be a Villa fan!
  9. As non-believers it is hard for us to fathom the decision process that AEG went through before that play-off final. For the sake of this football club, he made a decision that he believes he will have to answer for and justify in the next life. I don't share his beliefs but I will never have anything but respect for what he did for us
  10. Could go either way this one but brilliant that we look so comfortable at this level now. We play some really good stuff at times and look very much equal to Chelsea, who many pipped for the title at the start of the season
  11. Brighton remind me a bit of us at this stage last season, play some decent football but just can't seem to see games out. I like Potter but you could easily see them losing confidence and dropping like a stone second half of the season.
  12. Cant just be me who's confused why his was offside whilst Anwar's first seemingly wasn't even looked at? Seemed like both had an arm goal side of the defender to me. Feel for him, had a good game today and its no coincidence that our other attacking players are getting more chances with him in the side. He will do well for us in the long run.
  13. By far the worst team we've played since we got promoted IMO. They looked much worse than Newcastle in the home game last season which is really saying something. Big Sam is a survival expert but he really has a job on his hands with this squad
  14. The game he scored a penalty in was last week, not this week
  15. Back to his best. So important for us and such a likeable player
  16. Hes never deserved the scapegoating that he's received at times. Excellent again tonight. Not the flashiest player but a solid LB, good going forward and increasingly looks an absolute bargain. I'm a big fan of his
  17. Just said it in the AEG thread but worth repeating here - needs to earn his place back in the starting XI. Jack has played well in the centre and we have real competition for spaces out wide now. Fantastic news for us and a complete transformation from where we were 5 months ago
  18. Agree with this 100% - barkley has to win his place back now, no one has done anything to justify being dropped, which is brilliant for us
  19. Never Premier League quality... trollface.jpeg
  20. Some of these comments are embarrassing. Looked really dangerous first half, very unlucky not to score, set up Traore for a great chance. Looked lively throughout and linked up well with Jack. Should've done better with his chances second half but so should just about every other one of our players. If he's guilty of anything tonight its trying too hard IMO. He's more than good enough as a squad player for where we are and will play his bit this season.
