  1. His daughter goes out with Byrne's son.. It's commonplace to meet your daughters boyfriends family at some stage. I agree that he shouldn't have much to do with him but I wonder was Gerrard even aware of who exactly he was meeting.
  2. Totally agree. Our best player by some distance when he's on form
  3. Coutinho has been the shining light so far. Our most talented player by a million miles but has been totally out of form. Hopefully him being left out of the Brazil squad works in our favour. Apart from that this game has been utter tripe.
  4. This is the quietest I've seen Villa Park in a while. Awful atmosphere
  5. Would look class on the back of the shirt where we usually have the lion. Gas lamp with 1874 underneath
  6. Fantastic. Puts it all in perspective. Congratulations and have a great day!
  7. If only the top 4 had qualified for Champions League during those years in the 90s. Mad to think in the first year of the Premier League both ourselves and Man United were on 7 titles and battling it out for an 8th. I'm not sure what it's going to take to wake us up but it's such a shame to see clubs we were consistently better than for the majority of that 1990-2010 period pass us out (for example West Ham, Leicester and of course Man City) Obviously City are where they are now because of ridiculous amounts of cash and we're never going to compete with that but the hope is we get our scouting and coaching structure right at some point and some day push for top 4 or even top 6. At the moment that's a long long way away though
  8. I can understand Carragher backing one of his close mates. What I don't understand is the stranglehold he seems to have over the rest of the media. I've seen very few pundits criticise him whether they're ex Liverpool, Man United or any other club. If this were anyone else there'd be far more pressure coming on him from outside the club. Even the bookies don't have him as money on to be sacked next which I find crazy
  9. We're going to sneak a win and immediately award the mastermind behind it with a new 6 year contract extension. Stevie's here to stay
  10. He has failed his audition massively anyway. Not a hope in a million years he'll get the Liverpool job now. They'll be looking for a top manager to replace Klopp when he goes and have gone way past the years when they made sentimental appointments. Jimmy Tarbuck has a better chance of landing that job than Gerrard.
  11. Personally think Postecoglou would be excellent for us. His football is great to watch and players who have played under him rave about him and his knowledge of the game. Wouldn't be opposed to Rodgers either and we might have no compensation fee given the way things are going at Leicester
  12. This Arsenal team are excellent but we're not exactly making it hard for them. Blessed it's not a cricket score.
  13. What a player McCann was Ridiculous energy in the middle of the park. How we could do with a guy like him now
  14. Got out before Ange had a full season. Clever boy
  15. Not giving up on Coutinho yet. No chance. If we find the right system and start playing a bit of decent football we'll hopefully see the best of him again. When on form he's our best player by a long way. In the current system though he's useless. Definitely needs to be dropped.
  16. The way we've been playing it's hard to imagine there's such thing as a backwards move
  17. Agree with this and because such a song and dance was made about the captaincy it feels like Gerrard is afraid to admit he's got this one wrong by taking him off when he should/not starting him in the first place.
  18. I'd say no. A couple of injuries to key players and we are gonna struggle badly (even worse than we are now) I'm thinking Cash, Kamara, Luiz for example
  19. Like everyone else I think the manager change is inevitable in the next few weeks. But I would love to see us somehow get a result and start a turnaround in form that saves SG's job. (Highly unlikely I know) All I want is a Villa win every game no matter who's in charge. That being said I think we'll be beaten fairly comfortably
  20. I'd be interested to see him deployed as a DM alongside Kamara at some stage. Take McGinn out and start Luiz as an 8 and possibly get Buendia and Coutinho in as well. Chambers is so comfortable on the ball that he could easily play anywhere so if Konsa and Mings are fit I don't see the harm in trying him alongside Kamara
  21. To be fair to Lambert he did as well as could be expected with the squad/resources available. He had a thankless job really.
  22. This is such a massive game given the fixtures that follow it. Lose this and there's a good chance we lose the next two as well. 3 points from 6 games would be a disaster of a start and surely Gerrard would be gone. If we win Sunday though I'm hoping it'll give us a bit of a bounce and even if we get 1 or 2 points from the two games that follow things would be looking a lot better.
  23. Thankfully none of our club legends are complete wordsmiths like Ryan "William Wordsworth" Giggs. I'll take that as a win at the moment.
