  1. The joys of conference league football when TNT are also showing Liverpool in the Europa League. We've got TNT's Robin Olsen. The sub commentator
  2. This might be the worst atmosphere I've ever seen at Villa Park on tv. Honestly shocking
  3. A couple of tired looking players out there. Changes needed badly
  4. Fully entitled to his opinion but I'm happy to let the pundits keep harping on about the other sides and for us to continue doing what we're doing under the radar. Now that we're in the top 4 places if you compare our side man for man with the other teams we'll be competing with for 4th/5th (Newcastle, Man U, Brighton, Spurs) we're every bit as good if not better than all of those sides.
  5. Exact same reason as me and quite a lot of the other Irish fans I know. What a Villa side that was!
  6. Come over for around 3 games a season from Dublin. Would love to do more but life gets in the way. There's a pretty big contingent of Villa fans this side of the water.
  7. Yea not a whisper of it. Might be just me but I also thought the club's twitter admin didn't put enough emphasis on his importance to the club. His death was mentioned and then a few minutes later back to tweets celebrating the game. Tweet should have been pinned at the very least and in my opinion we could have gone with the black and white crest for a day as many clubs do to mark the passing of a former legend.
  8. Cameras picked him up coming out of the tunnel at half time last night talking to one of the other Spanish substitutes. One of them clearly said "Aston Villa" but my knowledge of Spanish doesn't extend beyond "2 pints of San Miguel por favor" so I couldn't make out the rest
  9. That wouldn't be Villa. Cult heroes don't drink tea in their downtime
  10. I know it's still early days but we don't look as fluid going forward at the moment when he's on the pitch. He's had a tendency to keep his head down rather than pick out the obvious pass to an attacker in a much better position. Not going to judge him based on a few games though and really hope he comes good.
  11. Also a Villa fan in Ireland. There's a fairly big following here with a lot being mid 30s - early 40s and most started following the club because of the Irish lads you mentioned. I'm lucky enough to be able to make it to 2 or 3 games a season. Have been to Villa Blues a couple of times and it's incredible but would agree when you're living in Ireland the rivalry is not the same. Man United are by far and away the team I hate the most and so the game I look for first when the fixtures are released. Of the hundreds of United fans I know I can count the genuine (non-glory hunting) ones on one hand.
  12. Surely the players have got to be complaining about this. We need to demand new material for the players shirts. Completely agree with others who have said it's got to be so uncomfortable and detrimental to performance. I would have thought there'd be some level of quality assurance done on the manufacturers side but obviously not. It only takes 3/4 minutes for highly trained athletes to be soaked to the skin
  13. Looking forward to a big European night under the floodlights at the Bescot
  14. Not worried at all who we get. We're the best team in the competition in my opinion and the Pot 2 team that everyone will want to avoid. Even with the worst draw we could possibly face we should be finishing in the top 2 in the group. Optimistic I know but that's the confidence Unai has given me
  15. Hope the move works out for him. A very likeable player who was badly hampered with injuries during his time with us. I really thought he could be an asset for us in Europe this year but probably the right move to get him off the books given his injury record
  16. Surprised at that but not bad news for Villa seeing as we're gonna have Thursday games coming up shortly. Nice little break for him. I'm travelling to Paris for the Ireland game so it's pleasing that we don't have to worry about him and now only need to focus on stopping Mbappe, Coman, Giroud etc
  17. I agree. Not even a sale could tempt me to buy the home one though
  18. Forget new signings. We should use any money we have to pay off these Castore chancers and get a proper kit manufacturer in. They're made as poorly as Sunday league kits.
  19. The worst home kit we've ever had in my opinion. I quite like the new badge but it wouldn't matter what one we had on that kit.
  20. I feel his limitations really showed up yesterday because he was playing alongside such a top quality player in Diaby. There were a few times where he just didn't look on the same wavelength and also a few times where his touch/decision making badly let him down. I do think this will come to him though and he's only going to benefit long term playing beside a player of such quality. The goals will come
  21. Nervous about this one as we need to be winning the majority of our home games if we're to challenge for Europe again. 2-1 Villa in a cagey game I'm saying. Coutinho with a worldie.
  22. Very sad. RIP Michael. I've no doubt all sides of the ground will pay their respects
