  1. Seems like a smart bloke. Can't argue with anything he says there
  2. Yup - sadly as discussed in other threads it will probably take a huge cataclysmic event to change football now (& many other things in society)
  3. Ha! No, I just meant the suicidal feeling we are having about every bit of news! The intermezzo would be a beautiful soundtrack
  4. November 11th 1874. Aston Villa had been around 121 years before Jack Grealish was born. I remember when Kevan started this thread and how @sir_gary_cahill raved about him I remember his home debut in 2014. Getting kicked around by Steve Bruce's Hull KRFC. That was 140 years after AVFC was founded. I remember him being recognized by Tim Sherwood as an amazing talent and he played Liverpool off the park in the FA Cup Semi Final I remember Remi Garde benching him because Jack didn't understand how privileged he was and acted like a prize plum I remember the scary freak injury on his kidney that kept him out for part of Steve Bruce's 1st full season I remember the unpunished stomp by Ryan Fredericks that helped keep us down but in the end saved us I remember how rejuvenated he was by Dean Smith joining Villa as Head Coach I remember the volley against Derby when he returned after injury as Captain I remember the 10 game winning streak I remember him running to his disabled sister at the end of the play off final victory I remember the weird Covid Season and his goal against West Ham in that equally weird green shirt that kept us up I remember how we were flying before he was injured in 20-21, thrashing the Champions and beating many of the "Top 6" I remember wishing so much for the England manager to play him more during the Euro 2020 tournament If Jack does leave, sadly, he will be remembered less than Andy Townsend. A captain who actually lifted a trophy for Aston Villa. He will be remembered in the same way as a Fabian Delph, or James Milner. Gareth Barry gave us 10 years and even Dwight Yorke won actual trophies with us. Jack has arguably achieved less than that. Jack becomes one notch above Christian Benteke. Have we actually seen more magic at VP than Paul Merson? Has JG done that? It will be such a shame as so many of us who have followed his career really believed that perhaps there was still a glimmer of something good left in football. If he does leave, it's just another sad reflection of how money, capitalism, and ultimately power, has poisoned everything that we once held pure in our communities - not just football. Good luck to him and his family. Sport is one of the few ways a working class lad can ascend to the elite financially. It's so sad that it the rise always seems to sully everything that could make the story truly romantic.
  5. People never talk about his family. His little sister has cerebral paulsy and his brother who sadly passed away - well his grave is in Brum. His family go to VP to watch him. What will happen? Will they be able to go to the Emptihad? Will they all move to Manchester away from family, friends, doctors? I would imagine it would mean huge changes for the Grealish family. Maybe they are fine with it but I’m sure it’s part of the consideration for Jack as he is very close to them.
  6. If anyone wants a distraction there’s a cracking Belgium PL game on right now. 4-3 gent vs Ostend
  7. Unbelievable - the same poster who told us he was at Cheltenham race track last year and Jacks dad was drunk and telling anyone would listen that he'd signed for Manure. (All of which was complete b*ll*cks) Now this poster shows up again a year later stating very firmly that he's already signed for Ci$y.
  8. Ugh! Lawn bowls only please - and make sure your whites are ironed with the creases in the correct places
  9. I remember this thread being created by Kevan. It was fairly unusual at the time because youth team players didn't get their own threads. Now most kids who are in the U23's have a thread with at least a couple of pages, but I seem to remember it wasn't done often on VT when Jack's was started. Apart from Ethan Moore eh @sir_gary_cahill
  10. So I've been tied up all day and just logged on. Anything happened with our Jack yet?
  11. Didn't see this until now Omar but just donated
  12. S1 was weekly which suuuuuuuucks. But it's also rather quaint which fits with Ted's ethos, so, for that reason. I'm in.
  13. Quote from the BBC report on tonight's shooting in Washington D.C. And who said Americans don't do irony? Is it just me that wants to at that ? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-57937868
  14. Ted Lasso S2 starts tonight. Oh how I thought I'd hate S1. Oh how I've longed for S2. Just beautiful. Cynicism be damned you poisonous snake!
