  1. Terriblly sad. RIP Ugo.
  2. We have to resist further major surgery. There's loads we could move out without upsetting the squad - Gabby, Richards, Kozak, Cisshoko, Veretout, Gil, Sanchez, Bunn/Steer, Golllini, McCormack - and this would free up an awful lot of money. We then need to focus on 2 areas: First teamers - bring in those who will start only. The squad has enough depth. Future stars - we must never stop doing this; it's what Spurs have done for years and is doing them a lot of good. I guess the list of those we should move on may grow as youngsters step up (RHM, Green, Lyden, Bree, Bedeau, Suliman, Toner). It could also grow if the right starters join. I'm thinking Tish, De Laet, Elphick, Gardner, Bacuna and perhaps even Grealish. The key is, how the **** do we shift that lot - 10 totally surplus, plus another 5 or 6 dependant on youngsters/signings.
  3. Genuinely wish the guy well. As many have said, he didn't deserve the abuse he got, and I think he suffered from the pile of shite around him on many occasions. I suspect he won't go on to bigger and better things in his career, but he tried hard and genuinely seemed to give a shit about the club. As fans, we can ask no more from a man. When he walks back into Villa Park next season, I hope he gets a reasonable round of applause - more abuse would be unfair.
  4. Aston Villa FC ‏@AVFCOfficial 17m17 minutes ago More Transfer news: @AaronTshibola has joined @NFFC on loan until the end of the season. Full details: http://bit.ly/2k8E8Cq #AVFC #NFFC Confirmed - good luck to him.
  5. I'll reserve judgement, but it is a little confusing to me. He's been a regular in the Swansea team, but doesn't seem to be highly rated, he's nearly 28 so should be at his peak, and he had a bad injury and I'm not sure he's come back as strong. In my opinion, with full backs, it's about getting the right style of player in for the team. Who's better - Maldini or Roberto Carlos? Each suited their teams style of play. Note: I am in no way comparing Maldini, Roberto Carlos and Neil Taylor - other than that they are all international full backs. And so is Alan Hutton!
  6. If he's not been mentioned because he's a no-name (taking on board that they could still be brilliant), then Bruce is seriously trolling the fans.
  7. Looks like he binned off Bedeau for Rachel Riley. Which is fair enough.
  8. He needs to play. Not sure about his future though, as I'm not sure what he actually brings in any sort of system. He's certainly not a holding midfielder; I'm not seen any evidence that he's got the range of passing (which is what Westwood should, but fails to bring) or enough goals in him (replace Westwood comment with one about Gardner) for the various other roles. Do we need a 'runs around a lot' player? A loan to see how he develops will be good for all concerned.
  9. That's how I read it (assuming it Rhodes and Grealish)
  10. But when you inherit a pile of shite no-one will buy - swap deals are your only option!
  11. {(75%-(75%+X))+50%+50%)*1/3} One swap deal, with a fee adjustment in our favour (the X) at 75%; 2 deals at 50% - only expect one of these will go through? (-95%-50%) 2 outs; 1 at 95%, 1 at 50%? (+50%-50%) Another swap deal at 50% - seemingly a straight swap? +50% One incoming at 50%?

  13. £6m or so in the bank is more use that him in the squad in my opinion. No idea why they've signed him - he's hardly going to thrive off Adama is he? Seems a thoroughly decent bloke, so we might miss him off the pitch, but we just can't play to his limited strengths. He wasn't a proper "plan B" anymore than sticking Baker upfront would be.
  14. Does that make him double shit? Is that worse than just shit?
  15. Dr. Tony Xia ‏@Dr_TonyXia 2h2 hours ago We have to wait until we compete all the working visa approval process. It's life... Stew bow @Stewbow1 @Dr_TonyXia are we announcing our new signing after tonight's match against Huddersfield town? Half time would be better surely? Subtle again from our owner! Sure the working visa could apply to anyone without EU nationality, but...
  16. Did we? Worlds gone mental!
  17. I starting to feel quite good about the squad. The new spine of the team appears to have real solidity - something we lacked massively last season after we lost Vlaar/Delph/Benteke (I know they had injuries, but it gave the others in the squad something to work around). The leadership qualities of the new group is huge - we all love Tommy, and the apparent signing of Jedinak will help too. I'm almost at the point where losing one of 2 of the first team to injury/suspension doesn't terrify me - as long as it isn't from the same position! To be fair to the good Dr and RDM, this is a lot of change in a short period of time. However, we had a lot of turnover last season, and that didn't work out so well.
  18. Pat Murphy ‏@patmurphybbc 13m13 minutes ago Jedinak to @AVFCOfficial for £4m depending on today's medical & sorting out complex visa issues (an Aussie!). Hopefully all sorted tomorrow. Pat is generally on the mark for me; he doesn't tweet BS. £4m? Seems a lot for a guy of his age with 1 year left on his contract, but could also be a bargain.
  19. Not bothered to be honest. An ex-youth player, which is always a good thing in my opinion. However, he's 27 next month, and although his best days should be now, he's never showed enough to make me think he will reach his potential. 140-ish appearances in 7 years says it all. Having said that, better coaching might just bring out the best in him, but I believe £5m and a big salary off the books is a good thing for this club. We can use some of the youth players as our back-up defenders. IF Richard and Lescott go, I do think we will need one more experience CB for the season ahead.
  20. Delph now Gueye? Hopefully - otherwise could be Grealish? Gardner? Gestede? Green? Gollini? Suspect isn't Guzan as we wanted rid.
  21. Only ever annoyed me once (in the FACup when he was on the bench). Other than that, he looked like he genuinely cared, which is all you can ask. He isn't good enough to be a number 1 keeper in my opinion (which isn't his fault). I think a change will do both parties good. So.....goodbye and good luck.
  22. I believe Nick Powell is a Villa fan? What these players often need is a consistent run in a side, where they can flourish. I think the same for Gary Gardener, but obviously they need to stay fit too. He'd be a good signing in my opinion.
  23. He should be welcomed with open arms into the dressing room as a part of the coaching staff. He seems like a person who would be well suited to a coach role, and perhaps more. With regards being a player - he should only be there on merit. Come back, train, and earn a contract, and I would be delighted. But next season will be hard, and sentiment will not get us promoted.
  24. If he has been allowed to put that out without it going through checks at the club first, then he has more authority than I ever imagined. And would explain exactly why we are in such a mess. Alternatively, if this has been reviewed and approved by the press officer at Villa Park - he needs firing too!
