  1. Fulfilling prior commitments is hardly what I'd call poor. At the end of the day they could have just delayed his appointment until he was 100% free but they didn't. (probably because all the fans are crying for a manager asap). He misses a game or 2 ? So what ? Crying for a manager who can make his first 2 games. Not poor on his part. If he isnt available to do the job full-time then he shouldnt have been employed. They should have waited imo. Poor from an Aston Vil;la point of view Imagine the outcry on here if we still hadn't appointed a manager by the Bolton game. It would have been melt-down. I think the board have struck the best possible balance between appeasing us and bringing in the best man for the job.
  2. How did you work that out?! :?: Just the way he said joint management doesn't work as if that was one of the offers put to him and how he wanted Kevin Mac to assist him but Kevin Mac didn't want to,it was probably mainly in his body language. Surely he was talking about his time as co-manager of Liverpool with Roy Evans? It is well reported he hated the arrangement. I VERY much doubt it was offered to him or Kevin.
  3. At the end of the day, we lost SIX nil to a newly promoted side and got dumped out of Europe. I would have been petrified if we had K Mac as full-time manager. Even the most naive football fan could see that our centre mids were destroyed by Newcastle's, yet he picked the same for Everton. Ireland's injury is one of the main reasons we scraped that win. Houllier has my backing. Let's not use his honesty as a stick to beat him with. He has a contract with the FFF and will see that out with integrity before fully sinking his teeth into this job. Good luck Gerard.
  4. Why not???? He'll be in to meet the players tomorrow and oversee training Saturday and Sunday - I reckon he'll take guidance from KMac but essentially he'll get right down to the job in hand. I would imagine he'll know most of them, I'll be more interested in HOW he plays them and how that side compares with the team to play Bolton? I reckon he'll know most of the players. I remember reading in Carragher's autobiography (hoping this admittance doesn't ruin any credibility in the post ) that in the summer he was named Liverpool manager, but still during leave, he spoke to Carragher and Gerrard at the England camp and spoke to them about the youth at the club, including a young Steven Warnock!
  5. For God's sake, lets stop trying to talk ourselves into being okay with the choice of Alan **** Curbishley. This is the same manager that Zamora, Koncheskey and another ex-spammers Fulham player (Pantsil :/ ?) threatened to strike over if appointed to replace Hodgson. Talk to West Ham fans about him. Only Brown is worse. If O'Neill had left at the end of last season Hughes, Hodgson and McClaren would be realistic candidates, now they are pipe dreams. And managers of that class shouldn't be. It's not like we're asking for Mourinho, Fergie, Wenger. MON really has left us balls deep in shit.
  6. Hi Andy. I think you do a very good job with the Villa team on the whole. Shame the same can't be said about that over-zealous Spurs researcher. It seems they are all like Glaston, ridiculously over-rating their team! They consistently win the league in my game. Anyway! What I wanted to ask was for a few more details on how player data affects the match engine. For example, is it better to have high CA or high attributes, or even a high 'positional rating' from Genie Scout. I have previously been told that one-footed players have boosted attributes. If this is true, players can have similar technical attributes but a noticeably different CA. Would the better player always be the one with higher CA?
  7. I had a bit of a collection, but gave it all to the charity Afrikit (they send football shirts to children in Africa). I thought it was a pretty good cause tbh! Might have to start collecting again though..
  8. Finally got round to watching the Usual Suspects last night. Great film.
  9. ^ Yup, seems they only included SWP and Hart from Citeh
  10. As MON won't play NRC, how about we go for Cattermole? I know he comes across as a a thug - but I feel our midfield truly lacks a destroyer and his bite could make a big difference. All season long VT has bemoaned the lack of a playmaker and Ireland seems the most likely solution. If we put these players into a 4-5-1 system: ------------------------ Friedel ----------------------- --- Onuoha ------- Cuellar ----- Dunne ------- Warnock ---------------------- Cattermole ---------------------- ----------------- Milner --------- Ireland --------------- ---- Young -------------------------------------- Downing ------------------------ Agbonlahor ---------------------- Then I believe we have a better team than last season. I know I have randomly added Onuoha, but it seems likely L.Young is leaving - and he seems the obvious replacement. Signing Fletcher from Burnley to cover Agbonlahor as the target man and possibly Figueroa to challenge Warnock would leave us, in my opinion, a decent squad. Also, dropping Petrov seems harsh but I feel his lack of mobility in the centre of the park often costs us (especially in the last third of the game). I feel these are realistic transfers with the money available, and despite not being overwhelming would see us at least challenge for the top 4 again next year.
  11. Oo.....er.. missus....? Or you could have said 'if i brought you over here with one finger, imagine what I could do with my fist?' :|
  12. You can't circumcise a SHA fan! They're complete dicks
  13. Didn't someone on here say he was wearing Salifou's Villa top during training? I think it was in the thread about the actual shooting. If so, although not quite the same as sporting the colours of your previous employers, it could hint at a somewhat lax attitude to what team's crest he wears.
  14. Andy Gray and Richard Keys pisstake. I think it's bang on.
  15. This. I've read that she was rejected from some Bollywood movies for not being pretty enough too :/
  16. Had a quick look on there, and after wading through some deluded 'noses views (McLeish > O'Neill, Bowyer + Ferguson > NRC, Petrov and Sidwell etc), an even unfunnier rendition of a Martin O'Neill team talk (where Gabby is mentally retarded, Carew is a playboy, Salifou/Osbourne mentioned for "humour") and an extract from Romeo and Juliet, I unfortunately couldn't find the L.Young/Davies-related comments. Could you link? Or paraphrase? I'm just interested to know how low the 'noses will sink these days.
  17. Can anyone work out what happens in the Tennis one :? ?
  18. I love questions like this. I'm thinking some sort of mid-size ursine platoon, about 35/40 bears. OT, but 'How much of yourself do you think you can eat before you'd die ?'
  19. £29 I think ? Although, it is like 75 mins/125 texts... The next one up is the one I'm on. £35 a month, with like 600 mins and 500 texts. Pay as you go is £340-400, though.
  20. Maybe, but I was definately promised a new model. I am not saying that the saleswoman was right, though
  21. I have the Iphone 3G on contract, and was told I would get the Third Gen free - all I had to do was trade my Iphone in. Basically, she said I have a two year contract with Apple, and any updates of the Iphone they do I am entitled to. Is she lieing then :? ? Or is this the case with you lot too ?
