  1. It's all about how the fans are seeing things. We don't know what his remit is to know whether he's doing a good job or not. We don't necessarily have any right to know what his remit is either. The club don't have to supply the fans with a figure to vent their anger at - much as we would like it. He might be exceptional at what he does as an administrator etc. I reckon any footballing decisions that have been made have been done at the recommendation of the coaching staff and signed off by him.
  2. I think Vlaar old be behind that. When baker scored the og last week, Vlaar was he only one to go over to him and tell him to get his chin up and get on with it. He did the same too with Bennett today, only something little but important. Agree with you generally about Vlaar, but last week it was Clark who was the first to go to Baker and tell him to get his chin up, rightly so as he was captain. But generally there's a good spirit among the players. All the players celebrating together today was brilliant.
  3. Redknapp.... what an arsehole. Should really have scored with some of those chances in the first half, you know, like we did in the second.
  4. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/form-guide.html 5th in the form table - last 6 games.
  5. Couldn't watch the game - anyone got any player ratings?
  6. Back to back wins and we came back from losing in both. Jesus this feels good. I really hope we can kick on like we did under McAllister and finish strongly. This will have fuelled the lads' confidence no end.
  7. Handanovic is one of the best keepers in the world right now - he was £8m last summer and is 28. Reckon Guzan would get £5m max for us. A far as I'm concerned he's a keeper...
  8. This is pretty much what Spurs have done - would be great if we could replicate it. If they can keep Bale they will challenge for the title before too long.
  9. Bit harsh on him. If he's been frozen out because of the cup games then surely Bannan has to go too.
  10. Would have thought Lambert to be pretty strict when it comes to discipline. Slightly worrying that there no authoritative figures really among the players though.
  11. Reckon Lerner will have to write a pretty big cheque to get rid of him this summer. No one will pay him anything close to what he's on at the moment.
  12. If you're on a cost cutting mission, I doubt we will bring the wage bill up to what it is currently. Given that Lerner wouldn't fund players in our hour of need - I shudder to think what scope Lambert will have in the summer - even if we manage to stay up. The cost cutting must end - if it doesn't we won't stay in the prem - be that this season or next - the cost cutting will take us to the championship - just a question of when If our current wage level is the cap we can sustainably stay in the PL. It's because of the contracts we already handed out that we're hamstrung at the moment. I think Omariqy is making the point that if we can go and get the likes of Benteke, Vlaar, Guzan, Westwood etc. for the money they're on then surely we can go and get a lot more of the same with the wages freed up when Bent, Dunne, Ireland, Hutton, Makoun, and Given are permanently off the books. If we can have three Bentekes for the price of one Bent or five Westwoods for the price of one Ireland then of course you can build a team good enough for the PL even taking into account the signings that don't work out. Whilst there's clearly question marks over a few of PL's signings I reckon Benteke, Lowton, Westwood and Guzan have all increased their value since they've been here - and that's after a absolute shocker of a season so far.
  13. Perhaps the lack of willingness to do business in January was PL's way of setting a precedent. After the O'Neill years and then what we handed out for the likes of Ireland, Hutton, Given, we must be seen by agents as a soft touch for getting their clients a hefty contract. We were probably the only team who would have given Bent the contract he got too. Perhaps PL and/or RL are just refusing to play ball. It means whoever we do sign isn't just doing it for the money which is a major issue. Newcastle are now the go to club for this.
  14. Are Sylla and Dawkins on those amounts? I thought they'd be on maybe half that given the apparent difficulty in bringing players in. The disparity in wages between Given and Guzan is incredible when you consider what they offer.
  15. Jesus, tough crowd. It's the one that jumped into my head - probably because we've only scored about three free kicks in the last five years....
  16. Just isn't going to happen. Other than his "experience" he is exactly what the club doesn't want. I seriously doubt he'll appear for us this season and by extension will never play for us again. We will let his contract expire and wave him off. To do anything else would be stupidity. We haven't exactly shown any desire for experience under Lambert either, which just about extinguishes the last chance of Dunne having any future here. Same for Given I'd imagine.
  17. Is he out of contract this summer or is he just being offered a new deal as his performances have merited it?
  18. Loved when Milner threw it off the shoulder of one of the Chlesea players in the FA semi a couple of years back. Might have been Ivanovic or Alex - they didn't know what had hit them and Milner was off down the line. We just don't seem to have that assertiveness in the team at the moment.
  19. Lower league teams will always be super psyched up for set pieces too as it's the main area where two teams are generally equal and they will have their best chances.
  20. IF we can get through this season and get that magical 17th place I really hope we can go and buy a strong, good quality central midfielder with a bit of experience. I think Delph, and to some extent Bannan will thrive beside someone like that and get their confidence flowing.
  21. Exactly - compare what he's on to what Baker or Clark are on and what they have to offer. He should be on considerably less or even pay as you play. We're not a benevolent fund. Let Stoke or QPR give him a big contract.
  22. Remember Milner scoring almost exactly the same FK against Everton (I think) at VP a few years back.

Dion was pretty good on MOTD2 last night. He pointed out that for relegation scrappers we still had two or three players (Delph, Westwood, Zog) looking to receive the ball from the back four at all times. That's a big difference from the Bradford/Millwall games when the players were scared to death. There is confidence there.
  24. **** it - Utd have won titles with some of their divers. Remember Young against us last season. I couldn't care less what our players do to stay up. I'd gladly take a Thierry Henry handball if it gets us three points. In fact we probably need a bit more of that sort of behaviour. I'd rather be guilty of that sort of behaviour than a victim of it. Just to keep us up....
