Nobody can knock Lambert after today's performance. Let's face it, it's up to the players to keep up that level. Either way, the lads played well and it took a cheat to to deny us victory. That and Gabby getting injured. Well done for recognising that Bennett and Luna aren't good enough. I'm sure there's managers out there that wouldn't admit to making such mistakes and keep playing them. However, getting Bertrand in is a masterstroke and deserving of praise.

Well played to the Villa. Started off great, maintained it through to half time, were forced into changes and then had to contend with that cheat.

We're playing well but we've got a touch like a baby elephant. Having said that, the "great" Gerrard has been having the same problem. Too much air in the ball? Lol. Clark did a job on that little rat Suarez so fair play to him. Looking good so far and Bertrand already looks a million times better than our full time left backs.

I'm going to predict that the TV money goes straight to the Lerner trust to pay off the remainder of any debt, then Randy will lower the asking price to around £100m and he'll be out of the club to a new buyer fairly quickly.

Villa were defensively shocking last season. Lambert went out and addressed that by buying a left back and centre back. We've not seen any improvement at left back so he's re-addressed that. The centre back area has improved but ONLY when Vlaar plays. Given his injury history, I would be very disappointed if Lambert failed to bring cover in at centre during this window. That's my biggest concern with the team going into the last half of the season.

I took a more detailed look at our remaining fixtures, today. I really hope we can turn our home form around because we have some extremely tough away games remaining.

More like Norfolk n chance! It's OK signing Holt just as long as Lambert has at least one midfielder and one defender in the pipeline. If we go into the back end of the season without bringing in someone else who can play centre back we are going to be walking a tightrope in the relegation battle. In fact, it would be criminal of Lambert to bring in another striker, when we have so many who can occupy that single slot, and then not sign a defender.

It's pointless moaning about it now, it's all done. Now, whether we agree with it or not, we need to support him.

Concrete Ron is vastly improved on what he showed at the beginning of last season. Like many have stated, we're so much better with him in the team. Deserving of the Captaincy too because he leads by example. I also think that he and Clark are a good partnership. Their problems lie at the sides of them as our full backs are so poor defensively. If we had solid full backs we would be back to having an awesome defence. Throw in a decent attacker, playmaker in midfield and a brick shithouse midfielder and we would have a very good side.

Don't know about anyone else on here but I have to pay for my own coffee's at work too. Lerner came to Villa promising a brighter future. It lasted three seasons and now I've experienced a longer amount of time watching the worst football, together with the worst results and the worst team, I can ever remember. We're in regression, not transition. People keep saying we've got to get rid of the high earners before we move forward again. Has the main man himself gone on record saying this? For all we know, he may move on Gabby, Delph and Benteke once he's seen off Ireland, Given, Hutton and co. The trust in Lerner has gone and until he speaks up or leaves there is nothing but a dull future, in my eyes.

Bent was a first team superstar on a long contract. Holt is a replacement for Benteke's understudy on a six month loan. Hardly the same scenario. Both signed in the January transfer window and with us in danger of a relegation battle. Say what you want about him being understudy but if Benteke gets injured this guy could, if he signs, be our centre forward.

How the fook have we gone from £18m Bent to 6 month loan Holt in such a short space of time?

Helenius isn't a targetman. I don't know why people put him in the same category as Benteke and Kozak. Maybe because he's a goalscorer? That's the category I'm looking at!

Maybe Lambert senses his days are numbered and is just trying to get final pay days for his old warhorses Hoolahan and Holt?

The issue with the Holt signing is not so much with GH himself, but more to do with the sequence of unveiling. Whilst we're uncertain of how much we have to spend, unveiling GH as the first signing is always going to be a bad PR move. Had we signed and shown off a couple of other players first I believe the many of us would see the reasoning in bringing Holt in. A cheap, experienced, and proven to be effective under Lambert understudy to Kozak. He may have been effective when he played for Lambert at Norwich but this is a different set of players. Having said that, you can't blame Holt for swapping Wigan for Villa. He must think he's in dreamland!

If Lerner is just reigning in the spending just to recoup his losses would it really surprise people? I mean, there can't be many if any, that think he's still interested in any kind of success. It appears now that all he wants to do his get his money back and sell up ASAP. I personally wouldn't mind if he stayed on as owner, just as long as he started from scratch and doesn't make the same mistakes again. But, he still has to pump a substantial amount of money into into the club if we're ever to challenge for anything. What may go against is the fact that Wigan and Swansea won the domestic last season. Maybe Lerner would see that as good enough for us, who knows? What annoys me is the fact he halted O'Neill 's spending but then he continued it with the next two managers. If he wanted to continue spending why not continue giving the money to MON? If it's because he didn't think he was doing any good, why let it get to the stage it did?
