  1. For something to have died it would have had to have lived in the first place! He should be fined a month's wages for that. In fact, he should be tasered on his balls!
  2. I think that guy is living proof of what scientists are claiming, when they say that modern man is linked genetically to Neanderthals.
  3. Lots of interest on show from Lerner then.

  5. Seriously ? He did well in his first season, but I fail to remember the last time Lambert was able to make an in game change that positively effected the result of that game. Have you actually seen his team play this season ? Are you aware that his anti-football has us topping the long ball table ? He is clueless, and bringing in just about any manager other than him would be more likely to change our fortunes next season even if there is no money to spend. If all the other rumours turn out to not be true, every Villa fan in the world should be hoping and preying that this guy is as far away from B6 as possible come the end of the season. Unfortunately, for me, there's one game that stands out more than others that says to me me that Lambert doesn't have a clue. Bradford City at Villa Park and chasing a cup final in front of a huge Villa crowd. Needing goals and what does he do? The old fashioned "just lump it into the box lads and try to win a knock down". That said it all for me.
  6. Take the M out of meltdown, jumble the letters a little bit and what do you have? Let Down. Got the feeling that's how we are all going to be feeling come the start of next season.
  7. With a business acumen like that, surely you should replace Faulkner as Chief Executive?
  8. I wonder if Randy has decided to have an English American Football team and decided to call us the Cleveland Clarets, realising that our current squad may be better at that kind of football than the type they are currently trying to play. Gabby for wide receiver? Benteke could be defence and Herd could be quarterback based solely his ability to throw the ball far.
  9. Sutton Paul you made some good points about FFP. I was only saying yesterday how it seemed illegal to forbid a business from running in its own way. I cannot imagine this being enforced and allowed. If it is, I will be very surprised.
  10. Playing like he's not going to be here next next season.
  11. Yes, he's mixed it with the worst managers but, hasn't he also had what is probably the worst squad in living memory? OK, people will say that he bought a load of them but, what are you supposed to do when you only have a relatively, in Premier League terms, small amount of money? People say he should have gone out and bought a playmaker - what with? Does 1 or 2 million really get you that kind of player? He tried for Hoolahan but the tool at Norwich wouldn't sell to us because of our previous dealings with them. I'm not saying I'm all for Lambert staying. Also not saying I want him gone. I just want us to be taken over by someone with a load of spare cash who can bring some nous in at the highest level to make the right managerial decision for our beloved club.
  12. If his challenge was to work on a shoestring budget, get the trouble makers out, clear out the big earners in order to lower the wage bill, utilise the academy players, lower the average age of the squad and keep us in the Premier League, you could argue he was more than ready for this football club.
  13. Your gaffer is correct. Money isnt a motivator but it can be a demotivator. So you play as well as the guy next to you but he's on 10 grand a week more. The gaffer says "well done son, keep it up but you're still not going to get to the same wage as so and so" or "keep playing like this lad and we'll put your wages up to match so and so". I'm sure I know which of those comments would motivate most players/people.
  14. These sorts of comments are bizarre to me. Last year WBA finished in the top 10, this year Stoke will finish in the top 10, show me the money these have spent. Palace could still finish in the top 10 if they win their last two. It's not that difficult to finish 10th or 9th. Newcastle with a probable loss at Anfield will finish on 49 points and I repeat have won 4 league games since Boxing day. 49 points is roughly a record of 13 wins, 10 draws and 15 defeats e.g. you can lose more than you win over a season and still finish top 10, it's not asking a lot, just us to win a few more home games for example. Just checked and Newcastle's ratio is 12-4-18 so they've lost more than they've won. Palace have lost half of their games and are 11th. Both teams only drawn 4 each so maybe we should just stop drawing games and go all out for wins? Whilst I agree with you about not needing too much to break top 10, you should try telling that to our management team. Hairyhands stated to me, prior to the season starting, that Lambert would take 17th if offered it before a ball was kicked! That sums up the current attitude at the club. People are happy just to stay in the league. They have no ambition about them. Either Lambert's fault and/or the players. But, can't really blame them when the man at the helm is not seeming to give a shit.
  15. I would guess that a modern day professional footballer's first "goal" is to make a lot of money, followed by getting himself a good looking missus and then maybe playing for one of the bigger clubs. I guess then comes the part of winning trophies/medals and finally, playing for their country. My gaffer once told me that money isn't a motivator but that's bullshit. I bet most players would say, if honest, that a bigger contract motivates them to perform better.
  16. If they do own us will you be giving them a photograph of you? You know, something to remind them? Or will they spend their lives just wishing?
  17. The problem we face is that Lambert has lost a lot of fan support. Any potential owner would see that and have to ask themselves a question of whether it's worth giving him £50m+ to buy in 6 or 7 decent players to see how he does. Trouble is, that's a big chunk of money to give to a man who has just been through two relegation battles. I just can't see new owners giving Lambert another go at it. Besides, he's also lost his two main accomplices. We'd need to sort that out as well. For me, I think new owners would bring in their own management team. But, if Lerner stays I can see Lambert here again next season.
  18. Hairyhands would have! Before a ball was kicked this season, I sent a PM to HH asking how he was and what he was expecting from the coming season. I suggested that, with the way we finished off last season, together with the signings we'd made and if they settled in fairly quickly, we could maybe sneak a top half finish, maybe even 7th or 8th. HH replied saying that Lambert would take 17th if you offered it him before a ball was kicked. I guess HH was right.
  19. I think Fulham will win both games because their opponents have nothing to play for. I think Sunderland can get 7 points from those fixtures and, I also think Cardiff can get 6 points. I think they'll beat Chelsea on the last day.
  20. Agree with you about Norwich because they might beat Arsenal but can't see any points from their other game. If Sunderland win tomorrow it will probably be the worst scenario for us. That would put them 3 points behind with games still to play that they can get a decent return from. Our goal difference may also take a pounding when we play Man City so we could really do with a draw tomorrow imo.
  21. Earlier today I was feeling bullish about our survival chances. However, I have just looked at the remaining fixtures and it isn't far fetched at all for Villa to go down. Fulham, Sunderland, Cardiff and Norwich will all have a very good chance of winning on the final day because the teams they are playing will have nothing to play for. OK, so we will have a similar fixture at Spurs. Just saying that it's very possible for Fulham to get two wins and Sunderland get 7-9 points as well. I will really fear for us if we lose next week and two other results go against us.
  22. I sort of get what he is saying but it would have been better to say we have 3 Cup Finals. Sounds a bit like he has written off the City and Spurs games. We could fluke a point. Totally agree with the feeling that he should have said we have 3 cup finals ahead of us. if we **** the Hull game up he's gotta say it all over again. To be honest, i don't think he can see us getting anything out of the away games so he's definitely putting all our eggs into one basket, which is frightening. Having said all that, I still think that other teams will do us a favour. I can see Fulham, Norwich and one of Sunderland/Cardiff finishing below us. How important are those wins against Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea looking? Imagine if we had shown the same form against last season's top four? We'd have been down by now!
  23. I worked with Oracle for 3 years and it gave me nightmares. If the owner of that company does take over at Villa, I hope he can get us working better than his other company.
  24. No doubts in my mind that a deal has been struck for the club, Premier League status the only stumbling block. If the deal does get done, and the new guys only plan to spend less than say £50m,then I can see Lambert staying. I reckon Lerner would ensure he is given chance to spend some money, even if it did belong to someone else. But, if the new owners have plans to spend bigger, I would most certainly bet on a new manager taking over.
  25. The big question for me is whether the fans think Lambert should be given a season if big money does come into the club? Should any potential new owners give him a lot of money to spend on new players, to see what he can do with big money. Or, would fans prefer a higher profile manager who has experience of dealing with large amounts of money in the transfer market?
