My anger at our tepid performances Only increased after yesterday’s performance which was the minimum I expect from a villa team. They pressed and attacked with intent for the first time in McGrath knows how long and if we could have put in just 1/2 more performances like that we wouldn’t be in bottom three and destined for the drop. That’s why I blame it more on Smith as it is his job to set them up and put in place a game plan.

My only concern with Purslow is is he ambitious enough in his thinking or will he alway go with the safe option ? Not knowing the parts each plays or to what degree I find it difficult to criticise Purslow and Suso as much as smith as I can see each match day issues with Smith. That’s not to say he is fully at fault but his position is easier to quantify in terms of job emit and therefore easier to criticise. Probs unfair but oh well...

Pre-requisite for a winger is being able to cross the ball.. Maybe AEG would be better Off playing upfront in a weaker league.

Maybe he has been carrying an injury and maybe he has fallen out with Smith. Dam shame if true but even though I think Smith should go, regardless you have to back the manager if he has stepped out of line. If he had maintained fitness and form though I very much doubt we would be in the bottom 3.

First 7/8 games thought he looked different class and better than Mings and thought we had bagged a bargain .... 25 games later not sure what has happened and gone wrong with him and hope he can get fit and regain form ASAP. His lack of pace isn’t a huge concern when Mings is alongside him and on form. The speed gun must have been faulty the day his speed was recorded cause something doesn’t add up as he is .1 of a MPH faster than Saint-Maxim FFS apparently

Have been slow to criticise Suso as his job and precise remit is somewhat unknown but it looks like the writing is in the wall so he has obviously failed. We can all see the deficiencies in our team but if it was agreed with smith a certain type of player is needed and acquired and I’ve used the example before of Nakamba and Luiz both DM with certain characteristics then is Suso solely to blame? He would have done what has been asked and found the type of player Smith asked for? We threw Paddy Reily under a bus too soon in hindsight. Steve Round was never gunna work out and now Suso. Hopefully they can persuade Michael Emenalo to join or Dan Ashworth but it is going to be difficult as a championship club to attract them.

Made my position clear that I think Smith is the one who shoulders most blame. We have no cohesion no style of players or game plan and it was always going to be a difficult job but I see it as the team should be set in the managers image and play to his ethos. You will always get individual errors over a season and mistakes will be made by all. For me Smith has made fistfuls of mistakes and has failed Somewhat in coaching the team to put up at least some fight or learn from mistakes.
