  1. Then we will be forced to undertake the same process of trying to add quality over quantity but from a lower base and lower expectations in terms of potential targets. We will have two scenarios in terms of lists and will cut out cloth and move forward according to which division we are in - just as we did last summer. I don’t want to go back to watching us on Quest TV so
  2. I completely agree and I think that a lot of what is being said re; transfers this summer being limited is just a PR exercise. Prices may be effected Somewhat and for the better but I was reading somewhere online earlier that only x5 clubs will be in any form of position to spend. Now it’s about adding quality in targeting players that are at the next level. We had quality last summer out of necessity. This summer requires adding quality.
  3. I wonder if we should put in a cheeky bid for Dwight McNeil who is rated in a similar price bracket to Benrhama and Rashica. ? Who would others like to see signed? Toon or Spuds most likely destination but he is an exciting young player and would hopefully be an upgrade on Trez & AEG who are far too inconsistent.
  4. Sky and BT Sports rely heavily on the Premier League to bring in customers so it is in there interests to be reasonable in terms of demanding £££ refund. With the rise of rivals like Amazon and the talk of a potential direct to market Netflix style channel they are in danger of losing one of the main draws if they try and screw the league over by being too unreasonable or demanding. If I was the premier league I would remind them that as much as sky has made football what it is today without football sky won’t be what it is today and will lose customers galore if and when they lose their grip on the rights.
  5. I guess it may be down to Dean’s way of seeing the game and his own philosophy that he prefers, a different type of DM to what some of us feel we are desperate for. Who knows for sure but as I’ve said for me the balance of the midfield of Mcginn. Luiz, Nakamba is wrong and needs addressing. I would also say it’s the same for our wingers - We have little in the way of variations in terms of replacements and the way we can play. It’s all too like for like for me at present. But we are at the start of our ongoing rebuild journey and a WIP for sure and I’m not criticising the job done to date as we had to rebuild pretty much a whole squad and these things take time.
  6. Yep Agreed and was always likely to end in failure. Drinkwater is washed up and again is a bit too similar to Luiz For me and Less so to a degree than Nakamba. Anguissa just as an example is different due to his physical attributes and what he offers in terms of his game. He would bring additional physicality to the position which I believe we are missing. Would have loved us to get Sander Berge for that reason.
  7. Certain games Nakamba and Luiz are adequate CDM’s but we are in our current league position because we don’t have enough quality or different options and it’s very much like for like. The defence on paper is pretty decent but our goals against tell a different story. Many factors are behind this but for me a glaring one is the midfield and it’s balance. Adding a different type of player into the Central midfield mix is definite position for me we need reinforcement. The spine is almost their just needs tweaking.
  8. IMO yes they have to some degree but I’d say it’s has as much to do with the way smith sets us up and his instructions. For me they do not offer enough protection to the back line and though both good players we are somewhat unbalanced in the centre of the midfield. I think both could be great players next season for us but I would still buy a new CM / DM and shift out Connor and Lansbury.
  9. Just reading Real Madrid are Interested in Andre Zambo Anguissa from Fulham and on loan to Villarreal. Just shows you cannot solely and fairly judge a player especially foreign Based on their first season in England. I remember he showed fleeting moments of his ability but was part of a dysfunctional Fulham side. IMO he is the type of player we need in the middle of the park .. Someone who is tall and athletic and can be a physical presence to aid Mcginn and Luiz to add balance and cover to the defence which Nakamba and Luiz have so far failed to do.
  10. Well that will lead to us being relegated and it would be very hard to take, however, we are where we are and deserve to be where we are for a reason so.... **** knows !
  11. Either way there will be riots either joyous or angry... I’m more worried about the bin dipping lovin media going on about poor hard done by Liverpool Playing the usual victim card for the next 30+ years If they aren’t given it ... If they have to then it has to forever tainted with an * in the record books. Just to piss them off.
  12. I don’t see how when teams aren’t on equal games played you can take a decision to relegate them ie us. I’m sure we have solicitors on standby if they do decide that and this could get very messy. I could accept begrudgingly if we were Level on games and in the relegation zone the decision to stick as is in terms of final league positions as 75% of the season has passed. It has to be null and void and tough luck on Liverpool, Leeds etc
  13. Dubious clickbait site no doubt but linked to young Dijon winger Mounir Chouiar. http://www.insidefutbol.com/2020/04/27/aston-villa-monitoring-ligue-1-winger-several-clubs-scouts-impressed-with-potential/457198/
  14. Teams should be equal on games played so we should play our game in hand. Id make Liverpool champions with a * next to it (just to Piss them off) then the bottom 3 play the top 3 of the championship winner takes all scenario. Everyone else it’s kinda rough luck I’m afraid and they finish as is. Just a thought
  15. Yes but we need to progress and continue to build and We can’t stand still which means increasing the quality across the pitch year upon year.
  16. Then why are we in the relegation zone ? The balance of the team isn’t right and I’m not criticising the job done thus far but we can all agree it’s a work in progress
  17. We Need better players all over the park... GK excluded we lack quality. but I agree other position are more critical. Our defence is suspect and I’m not sure if that’s down to quality, tactics and the way we set up.
  18. Been reading up on and watching Marseille pair CB x2 Boubacar Kamara & Duje Caleta-Car ... centre back as and realistic options IMO and an upgrade on what we have. One of Last summers more random links may also be worth taking another look at Perhaps - Waldemar Anton young CB from Hannover 96 he is very highly rated.
  19. Ashley has always ran a very tight ship by all accounts are in a very healthy position financially as far as FFP is concerned. Sort of gutted we’ve been trumped once again by an oil Country. But only time will tell. Everything NSWE have done so far has been above criticism for me and we have 3 very astute minds running us so fingers crossed, we can stay up and continue to fine tune, step up the quality, and push onwards and upwards!
  20. Not sure how true this is but someone told me signing a prospect like Bellingham for example doesn’t count towards FFP as you can claim his signing as academy expenditure and therefore wouldn’t count and can used to offset any FFP losses ? I’m not saying we stand a chance of signing him and not sure if the above is even true. anyone know if this is indeed the case ?
  21. I agree and thats why I asked if people knew how his form has been these past couple of seasons. Rashica would be the dream next level signing but I feel we aren’t at that level to compete for that type of player just yet especially with plop and Dortmund reportedly interested as well.
  22. He is currently injured and is at Middlesbrough... Cannot be worse than Trez and if we can pick him up for under £5mill and sell Trez for close to what we paid would make puns business sense to me.
