  1. If you read his concerns he said simple questions couldn’t be answered and until such a time as they are he is staying a way for the health of his family and being from BAME background who are at more risk. What’s stupid about that ? Your comments can come across as a stupid and ill informed at time’s and yet some are also insightful and spot on. I thought people from Cali were supposed to be chill...
  2. Do you have kids ... If so would you isolate from your 5 month child and not hold them and see them daily for months just over a game ?
  3. I’d take him. A front line of Wesley, Samatha, Dennis with Davis as support is an interesting proposition... He has been linked with arsenal and wolves and we have more pressing needs in other areas. Maybe Wesley and Nakamaba could help seal the deal IF we are indeed even remotely interested.
  4. Be interesting what happens in the summer regardless of which division we are in . Does he deserve another shot at promotion ? If we stay up should we keep him? Dyche has proved a point by being kept on but a whole host of other Examples where it was a mistake ... That’s why I’m currently on the fence with sacking him or backing him at present I‘m hoping he has used this enforced mid season sabbatical to take a hard look at his role in our current position Where he can improve and I hope he has adapted accordingly. We have a good squad Under the circumstances given the turmoil of the past two summers but it’s not balanced enough and something is seriously wrong somewhere . Not sure if it’s tactics or personnel ?
  5. Ouch when seen listed like that he really should be under pressure from above and his position under review. Can also see why some people think he is out of his depth. I’m still in the fence. I would imagine NSWE and Purslow would have discussed different scenarios in terms of Smiths position and have a succession plan in place ready (one would hope). I remember reading about how Southampton try and plan managerial appointments two in advance by monitoring and keeping an eye on potential candidates not just next but years to come with the manager fitting the club so not to lose progress and momentum. Chopping and changing between managerial styles. Not always been a success mind you. Edit could find the exact article but this one touches on it ... or I just imagined reading it somewhere. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37954971
  6. Wow times does fly! I had a ticket but was living in south Africa at the time and decided to stay out there ( luckily) J remember watching it at backpackers in Johannesburg and the locals were all routing for villa. The manner of the lose was so hard to take at time... And can now see the damage it did long term.
  7. Why do you think this is about you? Did I quote you specifically ? Or do you feel like you have maybe been guilty of hyperbole and are acting defensively ? It was a general comment and if aimed specifically at you I would have quoted you .
  8. All I said was I cannot believe SOME of the comments that are being made after half a season. Never said anything about it being a disgrace to have a different view to me on Wesley. Not sure what those players have to do with Wesley but ... Gestede and to some degree Hogan were just not able to replicate their form which earned them a move here. Don’t care about why as it’s immaterial now. McCormack has personal issues and demons and hindsight is great isn’t it...
  9. Cant believe some of the comments on here about one of our own ... Wesley is a young rough diamond which huge potential and let’s see how he does after season 2 before completely writing him off..? Also the Maupay comparison are futile. I believe if we really wanted Maupay we would have got him as it would had been a relatively easy deal to complete. Or for the money that would have been involved and Dean knowing him as a player and his potential ceiling they decided he was not the right player for us. I have full faith in Wesley to come good eventually given time and support and he is by no means the worst striker we have had in the last 10 years.
  10. I hate it when people use nicknames like chesssie or heats or wazza etc ... Used to cringe at potato head using them in interviews... coming from a person whose username is an old nickname
  11. What about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg . The right age and highly rated at Bayern but haven’t seen enough oh him ... Calling our resident scout @Villan4Life ... is he a suitable player or too similar to Luiz & Nakamba ?
  12. I’ve been thinking about this and the money that will be lost and I have a mad plan ... hear me out ... I feel unless matters change soon the season should be ended and **** the tv companies and sponsors. The premier league should take out a loan to cover the losses with the understanding that the next TV deal will be a straight to consumer product which would bring in billions. if say 10 million people signed up world wide at £10 per month say = £1.2 billion per season and realistically it would more likely be x10 that amount of people... that’s a lot of revenue for the game in general and it could be a chance to reset football finances and make it somewhat farer distribution of wealth throughout the divisions. Just a thought
  13. Yeah no chance of that ... ££££ I think the season should be voided and focus on next season myself. Too many compromises just to appease the TV companies
  14. I used to work for OUFC a few years ago now and still keep in touch with one Or two peeps. One thing that’s not been mentioned but has been discussed is that when fans are allowed back it may well have to be on a managed basis and with limited number of fans to start with and with every other seat and perhaps even rows left empty. There is talk that they will only be able to sell a 1/4 of tickets initially when games are allowed back. This is just at the discussion stage at present ( and technically confidential - oh well) It will impact season and overall available ticket sales badly if indeed has to be put in place.
  15. Just ignorant and perhaps Somewhat bigoted ?
  16. We have the ambitious owners and wealth behind us so there is no reason we shouldn’t be In the mix for players of Rashica calibre. Whether they will join us another question.
  17. I wonder if there would be the same clamour to finish the league if Citeh were so far ahead with what would be there 5th in what 8/9 years ? Part Of me feels the scouse loving media and authorities are pushing this on so they can be crowned champions. With the euros next summer now and Qatar 2022 scheduled for December the schedule leaves little room for manoeuvre and that why I feel this season just needs a line drawn underneath somehow and focus on completeing Next season in a timely fashion.
  18. Gutted Leicester look like they will get Kristoffer Ajer from Celtic. Desperately wanted him here last summer. Not knowing what division we will be in just like last summer must be a right pain in terms of planning and what with everything else going on.
  19. I just don’t think she is very bright and won’t last long if she messes up again...
  20. Boo! Back to trawling the web and YouTube !
  21. Out of boredom been searching for suitably talented potential replacements for Jack. We won’t get anyone like for like but this kid - Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Salzburg Has caught the eye and sounds like he will be a class player and will be destined for the elite if he continues on his current trajectory. Being linked to top level teams so would be a challenge and a coup to get him... obligatory YouTube video ...
  22. That’s Gullit ... Billings looks like Mings
  23. After all this I feel a European breakaway league will be closer to reality sadly and would no doubt be a direct to market product like Netflix. Then where will The FA and TV broadcasters be?
  24. As Wu Tang put it C.R.E.A.M #cashruleseveythingaroundme Lives do not matter ££££ Do... I’m all for the season restarting as and when Society is ready but it feels to me like they want to rush it through just to satisfy TV broadcasters and sponsors without regard to anything else.
  25. £££ Rules and everything else is a secondary concern, that’s obvious. As long as Sky/BT are happy that’s the main thing it seems. Also how come EFL Teams are currently permitted to use their own grounds ?
