  1. 3 months of it is suspended so he only has a 1 month ban which is half over already.
  2. I'm starting to think all those people who spotted him at customs may have been making it up!
  3. Chelsea took both Hazards to smooth that deal over as well.
  4. When do the links with defenders start coming through?

    Drugs

Exactly. For a number of drugs society would be overall better off if they were legal.

Even if it was a pure form of the drug and your friend had a weird reaction, is that a reson to ban everyone else from being able to use it if they wished? We don't ban alcohol even if someone gets drunk and passes out or even if they get into their car and kill a person whilst intoxicated. It seems crazy to go down the Saudi Arabia route and ban people from being allowed to drink yet that's what we do with other substances.

do you really believe mdma is safer than alcohol? really? I believe what medical professionals tell me in academic papers. So yes MDMA is a safe drug. I do not believe buying all kinds of mixed up illegal drug concotions labled as MDMA from criminals is. Alcohol is sold professional and accountable companies under licence. I would deem it safer than buying shady moonshine etc.. is it was illegal and sold by criminals. So if MDMA was sold legally by licence I wouldn't fear it as I've read medical reports on its effects. Yes, if you took all the different recreational drugs and lined them up from most harmful (heroin perhaps?) to least harmful (caffine?) then MDMA would be on the safer side of the scale compared with alcohol and tobacco. There was a pretty famous government report a few year back done by professor David Nutt which backed this up. There has been a fair bit of medical research done now as MDMA has been in common use for 30 years or so and the long term affects of regular use place it as a safer drug than the long term affects of smoking or regular heavy drinking.

There is a good chance it wasn't just MDMA though. The trouble with taking illegally made substances is that there are no government standards in place and you can't be sure you are getting what you think you are getting.

I think MDMA is much safer than alcohol, both for your body and for society. Unfortunately MDMA came about at a time when new drugs are banned if not much is known about them whilst alcohol has been with us for thousands of years.
  10. You can also count our position above the drop zone on one hand
  11. Steve Bruce was given money to spend when he was Wigan manager. Martinez was told he had to sell his best players each season and would only get a fraction of the money to spend on new transfers. In the last couple of seasons Wigan have made a profit for Whelan and he no longer has to put his own money in like he did with Bruce as manager. You'd be crazy to go for Bruce over Martinez if you were a football chairman.
  12. It can cause problems if you offer 1 player much bigger wages than the others.
  13. Perhaps the H&Vs rumour was true after all.
  14. We finished in a pretty similar position when we signed Westwood, Bennett, Sylla etc. They haven't been bad sigings but they are a long way from being good enough for a top 6 team. There is a middle ground though, young up and coming prospects who are more highly rated than most of the players we have been signing, Benteke fits this as does Belhanda. This is the model Spurs adopted, signing players like Modric whilst they were still developing. We need to take that step and move into the next bracket of player if we are going to be a force at the top of the league again.
  15. Would be awesome but we all know it's not going to happen

I never said it was unbelievable. Just far too light on detail to draw any meaningful conclusion from.

If this was the Bollitics thread that would be the equivalent of saying David Cameron is leader of the BNP (or whatever) i.e. all politicians are the same / all drugs are the same. You're better than lazy generalisations like that Tone. Not really sure what you are saying here ?? It's a true story , of course the drugs in his system could have just been a coincidence and he could have fallen off the balcony , but somehow I doubt it I'm saying that all drugs are different. You can't just say "he was on coke or whatever", as coke wouldn't make someone think they could fly. All drugs have different effects on the body and mind and as such should be treated differently, by users and in the eyes of the law. got ya ... I think possibly you are being a bit "pedant " in this instance though I put " coke (or whatever) " as I wasn't actually there that night and don't know his exact reasons or what he took .... I just went for the R Kelly version of events as an explanation ... but it could just have easily been that whatever he had taken aggravated suicidal tendencies within him and he jumped ( I believe that can be a side effect of coke ? ) Ok the more experienced / enlightened / foolhardy (delete as appropriate) VT'ers can pick holes based on their knowledge of said drug ... I have no experience in these areas of what they do or don't make you do ... and no real desire to find out ... Apart from a brief encounter of sniffing Amyl nitrite in the toilets of a nightclub in Uxbridge with Pogo Patterson and Zammo Maguire whilst singing "Just say no" in my late teens I think your opinion would hold more weight for the rest of us if it was coming from a position of knowledge, rather than it being based on a Chinese whispers style anecdote you heard once. The only opinion I offered was that I wouldn't take drugs .. perhaps you are proof that the drugs don't work The Chinese Whisper anecdote as you have decided to call it was a school friend of mine .. we weren't best mates but we were friends .... so you'll forgive me if I say " **** you" in this instance You don't seem to know the circumstances of his death ("might have been suicide") and have said you were not interested in finding out but are using it to form the basis of a political opinion.

  19. Another one who missed the sarcasm
  20. He is more highly rated than the other Bulgarian, though he is a few years older. He scored against us in the UEFA Cup as well
  21. Why would Dunne pretend he's had chronic injury problems all season, even refusing to play for the national side? You just don't like admitting you were wrong.
  22. And when can we take the next stage of development, start signing the better class of player and start competing with the teams in the top half?
  23. Those are pretty crap positions and not where I would want to see the club finish regularly.
