  1. Was hoping for a home tie, but never mind. Also, even though we've drawn a difficult opponent, I want us to win the FA Cup and I'd like to see us pick up the momentum to do so by winning games like this, not scrapping against the likes of Crawley at this stage. Let's beat City again and pick up the confidence to bring the cup back after a 54 year wait!
  2. Looked like the replays on ITV were filmed on a mobile phone camera. Waited all day and avoided hearing the result or coming on here for that! Still, I'm pleased with the result, even if I don't know too much about what happened in the game in general. I was actually going to travel down to watch today, but something came up at home that prevented me from making it. Hopefully we'll get a home draw in the next round and I can make that game instead!
  3. You criticise others for judging a player based on not seeing him very much in action, then you make a judgment on him based on his first 57 minutes playing for us?
  4. I've backed him all the way, too. Admittedly, I didn't like the whole affair regarding the Liverpool game, but I certainly wasn't calling for his head and said that he should be given time. This was always going to be a transitional season, and I like what he's trying to do with the club. Whether or not he will be ultimately successful is still to be seen, but I'm looking forward to finding out and fully support GH.
  5. Laminate: Draw your own conclusions.
  6. I've stopped at the Euphemia Hotel, Hotel Hortus and Globe Hotel/Hostel in Amsterdam, all of which should be pretty cheap. The first was alright, the second had bedbugs, and the latter was pretty good (central location, nice area to smoke/drink outside by the canal, bar downstairs with sports, friendly staff) but the room could get a bit too warm. I'd recommend it, though, if you're not looking for anything special.
  7. That's what you get for keeping a crocodile in your crapper.
  8. Voulez-vous utiliser le bumwasher?
  9. I'm with the majority on this one. But does anyone have/use a bidet?
  10. I think everyone should be entitled to have their birthday off work. And on the American spelling, to quote Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro: I pronounce it aluminium, 'Cause there's an 'I' next to the 'U' and 'M'. Now write it down slowly, And read it out fast.
  11. I just wish that Ireland had his head straight. Can you imagine an on-form attack of: Bent Young Albrighton Ireland Petrov Makoun ...and that's leaving Agbonlahor and Downing on the bench!
  12. I usually quite like Collymore on the radio, but he's talking rubbish tonight.
  13. Any reliable news on whether this deal involves Ireland yet?
  14. Brilliant timing too, with the MON to West Ham thing. Aston Villa are bigger than Martin O'Neill.
  15. Remember that the £24m figure is after bonuses. I'm sure they'll only get the full amount if Bent scores an incredible amount of goals, breaks into the England team, sends us into the Champions League, etc. Yes, it'll probably rise above £18m, but to quote £24m as the price isn't quite accurate.
  16. Huge amount of money for us if this comes off. Certainly can't question Randy's ambition though! I just wonder if there are better strikers out there for that kind of money. Still, whether many would come to us in our situation, and considering that he's proven in the Premier League, I don't think it's a bad signing at all. We need goals. Darren Bent scores goals.
  17. If anyone wants to watch some absolutely fantastic football this season, then get watching Dortmund. They're on ESPN most weeks now. They're currently running away with the title, and have a very young squad. If they manage to keep these players, they will be one of Europe's major forces in the coming years, I have no doubt about it. They are all so driven; Klopp's tactics are fantastic. The players run endlessly, have a great team ethic, and are fantastic to watch when attacking. Here's what I'd describe as their current first-choice line-up, with the players' ages in brackets: Weidenfeller (30) Piszczek (25) Subotić (22) Hummels (22) Schmelzer (22) Bender (21) Şahin (22) Götze (18) Großkreutz (22) Kagawa (21) Barrios (26) Mario Götze has only played a handful of games, but he's going to be one of the best players of his generation. He's already been capped for Germany, as have Hummels, Schmelzer and Großkreutz. I don't think Sven Bender will be far behind them, either. Nuri Şahin is already one of the world's best midfielders, in my opinion. I think if he had opted to play for Germany, he'd already be much more internationally recognised and celebrated. Still, I think it's good that he chose to play for Turkey - and if it helps keep him at Dortmund then all the better! An article from the Raphael Honigstein (one of my favourite sports journalists) after our 3-1 win over second-placed Leverkusen this weekend: Dortmund are also the first side to have 40 Bundesliga points before Christmas; they had 43 going into the winter break. They've conceded 5 goals in their last 12 Bundesliga games (11 in 18 all season, scoring 42). I can't recommend watching this Dortmund side enough to anyone who enjoys football.
  18. I only think we should take Carew off if the defence and midfield are going to stay composed under pressure and play it along the ground. Petrov needs to improve his movement today.
