  1. It possibly gets on some people's nerves, but the Muller Rice advert with the bear really makes me smile. I think it's his hair.
  2. The best argument I can give for living in Brum, is family, friends and the Villa. I don't live in Brum anymore, and I don't think I'll ever move back. I think you'll find it hard to convince him to stay, if his heart is set on moving away. It may turn out to be the best thing he's ever done.
  3. I kind of agree, regarding the songs that remind you of someone or something. However I think that it's possible to just have an emotional connection to a piece of music, without it being linked to a memory of a person or an event etc. I class myself as being Agnostic, bordering on Atheist, but when I listen to Black American Gospel music, I feel a what I can only describe as an emotional, and although I hesitate to say it, as I'm contradicting myself a little, a spiritual connection to it. I'm not Christian (although Christened C of E), black, or American, so it's not even something that's conditioned into me, I don't think.
  4. I sometimes get a bit teary when listening to really soulful music. Aretha Franklin has had me crying like a little girl before now, ditto Otis, Mavis Staples etc. For some reason traditional brass bands get me a bit moist eyed too. I've no idea why. Gonna sound like a big Jessie, but there are a quite a few songs that have made me a bit weepy. Moonlight Serenade by The Glen Miller Orchestra, as it reminds me of my Granddad, who was a big fan. Sappy stuff like Mother & Child Reunion by Paul Simon makes me blub too, if I'm in the right mood. God, I'm gonna have to go out drink ten pints, eat the hottest curry in the Indian, and start a fight with someone smaller than me now, to show what a big man I am!
  5. My Dad doesn't drive, but the first thing I can remember Our Mom driving us around in, when I was young, was one of these bad boys. We had some great adventures in the 'Pea Pod'. Sliding around on the seats in the back, that were fastened in by Velcro! Happy days...
  6. Bloody love Ben Folds and BF5. Magic is my favourite, heard it? He also did an a capella album with a bunch of university glee clubs doing covers of his and BF5's songs and Magic is absolutely briliant. Yeah, I've got a copy of The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner. Whatever and Ever Amen is my favoutie album by BF5 though. Brick, Song For The Duped, Kate etc. So many happy memories of listening to that album.
  7. On a side note, anyone else feel the urge to stand on one leg, till we get to the next page of this thread? Come on lads, let's get off this Nelson ASAP!
  8. I'm suprised that the ECB haven't given Chopra a chance yet. For two seasons, he's been there or there abouts top scorer in the County Championship. Good news for the Bears though, I suppose, as we'd be screwed if we lost him to England too.
  9. Looking like Carberry might have batted his way into an opening spot, in the first test. Fantastic ton last night, all be it against an third rate Australia A bowling attack. Hopefully if he plays, that will solve the problem number 6 spot, as Root can move back down the order. Looks good on paper, hopefully it'll come good out in the middle.
  10. He's a local boy (to Sussex) isn't he? As you say only been used in limited overs matches. Can't say I've paid a great deal of attention to him, but I don't get to see the Bears as much as I'd like to, living away from Brum. I only ever see his name on score cards and in match reports, but he hasn't really made a major impression on me.
  11. An obvious choice, but if I've ever felt any emotion towards a building, it's the old Trinity Road stand. I'll never forgive Doug for knocking this down. Pure vandalism. The Holte End looks ok now, but it's a pale imitation of Archibald Leitch's master piece.
  12. Missed the first half. Kind of wish I'd missed the second too. 0-0 seemed inevitable, even before kick off,
  13. Been listening to the boys from Solihull quite a bit lately.
  14. First tour game under way, and the first test coming at the end of the month, what are our thoughts on The Ashes Down Under then? Going to be a hell of a lot closer I think, but I think England will come out on top. The top three (I assume Cook, Root and Trott) need to find some form, and it would be nice if Prior gets back to anywhere near his best. Finn still looks to be lacking any confidence, so may be a weak link. We need someone of his ilk to step forward, as the wickets will be made for bowlers like him. If not Finn, then I hope Tremlett or Rankin can fill the void. I'll go for 3-1 England.
  15. Never done Movember, but then I have an issue about growing facial hair, as it itches the life out of me, and makes me want to rip my face off. I fully support those who do it though.
  16. Who else is wondering wtf exactly it is, that P3te does for a living?! I want in!
