  1. I care what the people who matter think of me. People who know me. Loved ones, family and friends. To an extent I care about what others think, but I'm happy enough to accept not everyone will like me. I'm comfortable with that. I won't let anyone judge me though. Especially those that don't know me. Bollocks to that!
  2. Good tune, but I prefer Lick My Love Pump.
  3. Lara is a tough one to argue for, as he'll always be compared to Tedulkar. He was certainly an amazing cricketer though. One of the best of all time for sure. Well both of them for that matter.
  4. It's worth pointing out that on this date in 1974, was the Rumble in the Jungle. Ali showed (or rather reminded) the world just how great a boxer he was.
  5. Trouble is, "having personality" tends to be a euphemism for "being an arrogant gobshite". I prefer my sporting heroes to let their sport do the talking, and their "human side" to be manifested by modesty. I wouldn't use the phrase "arrogant gobshite" to describe Ali. Clever, astute, witty, supremely confident, and self aware maybe. Sometimes, a sportsman has just got it, and you have to respect it. For instance, I didn't like the way Shane Warne went about his business, in his playing days, but I respected him and recognised him as a special talent. I also loved to watch him bowl. He was everything I hated about the Australian cricket team, but I could see that it was all part of his character, it didn't mean I didn't rate him as all time great. Sport would be so much the worse, if we didn't have people like Ali, Warne, Gazza, Bolt, C Ronaldo etc.
  6. I think you're doing Ali a bit of a disservice, as I think he was an amazingly talented Athlete who did it all in his sport, but I kind of see what you're saying. However isn't the showmanship side of it important? Isn't that what people pay to see? I don't want my sporting heroes to be robots. I want them to have personality, and show a human side.
  7. In a similar way to Ali, Sir Viv Richards should get a mention, because of the way he transcends his sport. Not only one of the greatest batsmen to walk the earth, but a man of integrity, and an example to all. He turned down a million dollar cheque, and refused to play in South Africa, during Apartheid. Plus he's one cool mother flipper.
  8. It's not just about his boxing though, it's the full package, and what he stood for and represents. I rate other boxers higher, but they don't have anywhere near Ali's presence or kudos. No one comes close to Ali in that respect. He's an absolute icon, and possibly the most reconcilable man on the planet.
  9. Did you know he once broke his leg playing in the Cup Final?
  10. Be proud of what you've got, chaps. You're not too small, she's too big! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcJoTREXxwU
  11. Technically Wimbledon moved there. Yeah, I'm very much of the school that fails to recognise MK Dons as a proper football club.
  12. I'm 6ft plus, and I've got a mate who is under 5ft. I can confirm that height has no bearing on this topic, as I've stood next to him at the urinal, and he's like a bloody tripod!
  13. That should be good, when is it? I wouldn't mind seeing them at The Sage I love that venue Friday 15th November. Not sure how far away from selling out it is, but my mate got a ticket about a week ago, with no problems.
  14. I'd add Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday and the Wolves to the list. All decent clubs with large fan bases, and should be doing a hell of a lot better.

Collymore is listenable. Danny Kelly is very good. I have a particular loathing for Jason Cundy and Mickey Quinn. Goughy is an absolute goon. The rest I can take or leave.

What a massive let down! I was expecting Wizard of Oz stuff! I was expecting to wake up surrounded by munchkins, on top of an old lady with stripy socks on!

    Lou Reed

The best thing about that album is, it really upsets Metallica fans, when you tell them it's the best album Metallica ever made.
  19. Got confused in the pub last night, when I saw the time, but was pleased when I realised the landlord was staying open an hour later than usual. I was glad of the extra hour to sleep off my hang over too!
  20. Listened to Loaded while I was in the car earlier, and now giving this a spin, for obvious reasons...

I can understand that view. The Velvet Underground are pretty much thought of as the pioneers of what became punk rock.
