  1. I'm planning on picking up the Galaxy S4 when it's released as my contract is almost up for my S2. Do you think it's worth paying an extra £9 a month to get 4G? I can pay £22 per month for 3G with 750MB data limit (phone cost £399.99). Or £31 per month for 4G with 500MB data limit (phone cost of £269.99). Both are 24 month contracts and I'm unsure which would be best. Any suggestions? Or does anyone know of any better deals?
  2. Hmmmm, I still wish Aronofsky had stayed on to direct 'The Wolverine' as I think he would have nailed the tone. The trailer looks a little too generic and that music is doing my head in. Can nobody think of original music for a trailer?! Anyway, it does look quite good (yes generic but good) and the period they are focusing on for the film is probably the best period in the comics. I still haven't forgiven Fox for what they did to Deadpool in the last Wolverine film. Hopefully this can finally give my favourite comic character the film he deserves... Oh and Silver Samurai. Yeah!!
  3. Played it for just under two hours and I've been looking around a lot of the time. The scenery is pretty amazing and I stood and watched a few of the people on stage etc. Great start to the game and I can't wait for this upcoming four day weekend.
  4. World of Warcraft is the best game of all time for me. It just keeps on going and the recent expansion has given the game life again. Not to mention the fact that the recent patch (5.2) has been good fun so far, with more raid bosses still to open in the next couple of weeks.
  5. 'Whatever Works' is another good one.
  6. 'Anchorman', 'Bridesmaids' or 'Animal House'.

I don't see the harm in downloading a TV show that has aired in the States when you plan on buying it a few months down the line (when released in the UK). I also don't see the harm in downloading a torrent of a film you already own. Just wanted to put that out there...
  8. I foolishly went to see 'Welcome to the Punch' last weekend, While it does look very nice, the film as a whole was pretty poor. I would save your money on that one... 'Oz The Great and Powerful' on the other hand was pretty entertaining. I went to see that at the IMAX in 3D. Now I'm still one of those people that believe 3D is just a gimmick but I thought it worked pretty well in this film. It was just an entertaining ride that any age can enjoy. Plus there are plenty of lovely ladies to look at throughout. 'Stoker' is another one I've seen lately, directed by Chan-wook Park of 'Oldboy' and 'Lady Vengeance' fame. The film is very weird to say the least (as you would probably expect) and very gruesome. It's stunning though and is probably one of the best films I've seen at the cinema recently. Wasikowska plays her role to perfection and Matthew Goode is very good (too tempting). I can see why people have said there is a Hitchcock influence as the tension and music in this film really are perfect for the most part. On upcoming films I've already got my ticket booked for 'Iron Man' in the IMAX on the 25th of April and can't wait. Plus I managed to get a preview ticket for Gosling's next outing in 'The Place Beyond the Pines' on the 8th of April. Really lookinbg forward to seeing them both.
  9. I used to go to Hockenheim most years, mainly back in the Damon Hill days. That would be a decent one to go to as you can visit Heidelberg too, which is a really nice place. Shame that the German Grand Prix is in Nurnburg this year though...
  10. I picked this up on release and managed to get the Limited Edition for £34.99 through Amazon. I think they had it priced wrong at the time, yet I'm not complaining. The game itself is quite good to an extent. The server issues were a pain at first and EA are a disgrace for letting this happen. They really should have been prepared and considered making the game playable offline. Anyway, I'm enjoying it overall despite the fact that it isn't as good as earlier Sim City games. It seems to have been simplified a little too much though. The area in which you can build is far too small and I quickly run out of space, without the option of having my tile run into another. This gets very frustrating and is very poor. The online mode is quite good at times though and the way the various tiles are linked is good to some extent, with the trading between cities and such. The gameplay is pretty similar to every other Sim City and is therefore entertaining as far as I'm concerned. If it wasn't for the little issues (plus the big one of needing to be online all the time) then I'm sure people would have been less hard on EA. There is afterall a decent game within this Sim City. It's just a shame that it's being held back by the greed of EA. Did people learn nothing from Microsoft and their Age of Empires Online mistakes?! I was happy to find out that EA are going to let people that have registered their game download a free copy of one of the following: Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition) Bejeweled 3 Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition) Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition) Medal of Honor: Warfighter (Standard Edition) Need For Speed: Most Wanted (Standard Edition) Plants vs. Zombies SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition I've got Sim City 4 and Mass Effect 3. Which of the others would you choose to get? I'm leaning towards Dead Space 3.
  11. Hmmmm, it's everythig else that you would have to add onto that price though to make it worth the time. Probably looking at spending over £4,000 minimum to make it worth buying. Surely just picking up a mid-range DSLR would do almost the same thing (obviously not as good yet good enough for an amateur filmmaker). The Canon 650D and 7D (plus other similar cameras) can do plenty when it comes to making films.
  12. The whole rights issue is a shame. I would love to see Wolverine and Spider-Man in the Avengers... I would also love to see Marvel making an X-Men film as I really do feel they could do it justice. I did like 'X-Men: First Class' yet still think there was something lacking. There is talk however that Fox might be tying the X-Men and Fantastic Four together in their new films. If this is true then I am hoping it will lead to Onslaught appearing in future films. On another note, I managed to get a four day pass to San Diego Comic-Con this July and am hoping that the new Wolverine film has a big presence, being that it gets released a week after the con.
  13. Sony has previously offered a service to allow you to download versions of physical games you owned for a fee (introduced for the Vita IIRC to head off complaints that they'd introduced a new media format for the PSP and then dumped it on that consoles replacement). However it was very half arsed and limited (i'm not even sure they implemented it outside Japan, in truth, and few games actually offered it). So basically, you'll be buying again. Guarenteed. Anywho, this announcement left me indifferent. I don't really care. Nothing grabbed me about it - the games were usually graphically impressive but not absolutely jaw dropping otherwise, and nothing else caught my attention. I agree the 'Look! Move! Remember the Move?! You can still buy and use one you know!' and 'Vita! LOOK! You really need one!... please buy one...' was desperate and probably aren't going to achieve anything (theres not a chance the Vita will ever be 'a thing' without a marked price drop and change in the market, for instance). Oh and that controller... it looked like a Logitech product, and not in a good way. The touch pad is daft. So yeah... I don't think I'm buying a PS4. Oh well. Microsoft won't be any better, mind. The sad thing is that the Vita is actually the best portable gaming system on the market. They just aren't throwing enough games at it, which is a big shame...
  14. I wasn't expecting wow, but maybe something new and fresh for a brand new console and a new partnership. I don't think wow is possible on a console they may attempt some sort of mmorpg that cross platforms with pc and ps4 that is more simpler than wow. Isn't Blizzard supposed to be working on their next big MMO? Thought I read that somewhere? Think it was/is called Titan. Yeah, they've been working on 'Project Titan' for a while now and it was the thought that first hit me when I heard the Blizzard link. Perhaps this is what they have been building for. Anyway, I'm excited to see D3 on a console, even if it wasn't an amazing game. Hopefully WoW too someday...
  15. I think Pratt is a really smart piece of casting for Guardians of the Galaxy. He was pretty good in his early career in a TV show called Everwood. Yes, I used to watch it and I think it should be forgiven being that a large part of the reason was due to Emily VanCamp (another good bit of casting for the new Captain America film too). He's good in Parks and Rec too, which is more of a comedic role. I really do think he'll work and fit in well with the whole thing. Speaking of comic films, apparently the trailer for The Wolverine is hitting on the 12th of this month. It seems like it's been a long bloody wait just to see a trailer. Especially considering the film is due to be released in July... Now onto other films. I went to see Wreck-It-Ralph earlier and really enjoyed it. It just took me back to being a child and gaming at that younger age. It really is an entertaining film and is certainly for any age. The Paperman short before the film is also great and if you haven't seen it yet then don't bother watching it until you see it in the cinema. It's much better on a big screen and I wish I hadn't seen it before I went. I've also been to see Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, Flight, Gangster Squad, Les Miserables and Django Unchained over the last couple of weeks. I'm not sure if I have given my opinion on any of them in here, as I haven't been on much lately. Anyway, I enjoyed them all to some extent, although out of this bunch I would say my favourites were Flight and Gangster Squad.
  16. I've got a 42 inch Toshiba at the moment and love it. Thinking of upgrading though and I'm on the lookout for a 60 inch LED at a good price. I think 60 would be the perfect size for me and I really don't think I would ever need any bigger. Now the difficult thing is to find one at a good price. I'm very fussy too as I watch a lot of films and like a crisp and sharp image, plus I've got a thing for a small bezel surrounding the screen (in an ideal world there would be no bezel). I might just hold on for a couple of years actually as my TV is still very good and I think it might be worth the wait to get a 60 inch 4k resolution (Ultra HD) TV. Any thoughts on current 60 inch TV's that might be worth a look? Or would you just wait?
  17. I took these on my new 650D. I'm still getting to grips with it as I took the one I had back to Jessops for a refund. Then got it over in Germany in December for around £300 cheaper with the 18-135 STM lens. Seemed to make sense... Anyway, do you think any of these are any good?
  18. I went to see 'Gangster Squad' and 'Les Miserables' over the weekend. Both are worth a watch, yet neither are without their faults. Firstly 'Gangster Squad' was very entertaining. It felt paper thin though and is basically an action film at times. Little plot, yet pretty entertaining throughout. Gosling is good as always and Emma Stone is in good form too (as well as looking amazing). It's entertaining stuff and worth watching if you leave your brain at the door. It could have been so much more with the cast though and does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity. Then there is 'Les Miserables'. Now, the cast in this film are all at there best. I'm one of the people that thinks Crowe can't sing, although he did make a good attempt at it I suppose. Jackman, Hathaway and Barks steal the show. Plus Sacha Baron Cohen works really well in his role, providing some funny moments. The film did drag for me in the last 30 minutes, yet I liked the rest of it and thought it was a really good musical adaptation. There were about 20 too many closeups though and it does feel like it was shot on a DSLR (bokeh overkill). Other than that it looks really nice (even a lot of the bokeh filled shots are nice) and if you like the musical then go and see it. Even if you don't like the musical then I would still say it's worth giving a go.
  19. I keep leaving it ages between posts in here nowadays. Anyway, I saw that 'Trouble With The Curve' at the cinema when it was out. I also liked it, yet I thought Eastwood was going through the motions a bit. Solid film though and Amy Adams was good. Have any of you seen 'Jack Reacher' yet? I'm a bit behind at the moment as I just got back into the country after two weeks away. I need to get to the cinema and fast.
  20. Woke up and had to pop on the net to see the trailer for 'Pacific Rim'. Been waiting for this for a long time and it looks like a lot of fun. 2013 can't come fast enough! They've already got the second film in development, which isn't much of a surprise to be honest. Hopefully 'Hellboy 3' will happen when this is a success...
  21. Just under two hours until the 'Pacific Rim' trailer is released. I can't wait for this one and it's probably my most anticipated film of 2013. Big fan of Guillermo del Toro. Unfortunately I'm shattered so will have to watch it in the morning, although I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Some viral material here if anyone is interested (including the countdown). Off to see 'The Hobbit' tomorrow after work too and am looking forward to it. I'm expecting it to be a bit dragged out as I'm one of the people that thinks three films is far too many. It could have easily been done in one film (or two max). Plus I would have preferred del Toro staying at the helm. Oh well, it should be pretty interesting seeing the 48fps in motion on an IMAX screen too...
  22. I was really looking forward to 'Seven Psycopaths' and did enjoy it a lot. However, I agree that it wasn't as good as 'In Bruges'. I'm not sure why you've compared it to 'The Guard' as McDonagh only produced that, whereas he wrote and directed the other two. I would probably agree that 'The Guard' is also better though. Anyway, 'Seven Psycopaths' was enjoyable throughout. It's funny and completely over the top, with a plot that twists and turns. My main issue was that you could see a lot of the twists coming well before they actually happened. Rockwell is really good in the film and you can see a good amount of promise from McDonagh (writer and director) once again. I haven't been in this thread for a couple of weeks I don't think, so I've overlooked some other films. 'Argo' and 'Silver Linings Playbook' were the standouts. Both of them are solid films, although the latter does go a bit strange in the last 30 minutes or so. Both are worth seeing though. I went to see 'End Of Watch' too and thought it was a decent watch to be fair. Nothing special but it was an entertaining popcorn flick. On the suggestion of Blu-Rays I would recommend the following: The Incredibles (or any Pixar film for that matter as they all look great) Drive Blade Runner (considering the age of the film the transfer is fantastic) Saving Private Ryan Planet Earth Inception Hugo Avatar Blu-Ray really is a fantastic format and the films listed above really show what it can do.
  23. The multiplayer was good fun on Dead Island. Plus the game itself is pretty fun.
  24. WoW: Mists of Pandaria for me. I hated the whole idea when it was announced and swore I would never go back. However I'm now back playing and raiding again with my guild. The storylines are fantastic, the music is great as always and they have basically nailed the expansion. LFR now works very well (as well as it can anyway) and the new raids are good fun. Blizzard just keep on coming back and no other MMO will ever top WoW, unless Blizzard somehow top it.
  25. I've just transferred Torres out and got Benteke in. Blind faith? Probably...
