  1. Scotland will need the oil price to rise significantly before it could afford to go it alone.
  2. Is that true of all countries that are not in the EU? We may be the first countries to leave the EU but won't be the only countries to be outside of the EU. There are even countries that have chosen not to join at all. Are all those countries inhabited by those who don't like foreigners, don't want to work with others and feel superior to the rest of the world?
  3. The vast majority of leavers I have spoken to acknowledge there will be short to medium term damage to the economy - significantly in the short term (markets dislike change), less significantly in the medium term. They see it as a price worth paying for their other (much documented) reasons which include an optimism that the economy will benefit in the long term, especially compared to a troubled Eurozone.
  4. All down to the remaining London boroughs to save the remain campaign. EDIT - and the biggest vote of the lot from Birmingham. Latest forecast says it won't be enough.
  5. So Sky are forecasting the London boroughs will exceed previous expectations of already fairly high remain majorities?
  6. Alex Salmond appears to be relishing the prospect of another north of the border referendum.
  7. I don't buy the failure to 'get the message across' theory. Perhaps the message was heard loud and clear but disagreed with. For example, I could calmly tell you of my opinion on a certain subject and you could carefully listen and consider my opinion deeply. You would still be entitled to disagree with me even though I had definitely got my message across to you.
  8. That depends... I still think the huge remain majorities expected in the highly populated London boroughs may swing it.
  9. I really think the television coverage is wrong to keep focus on political party lines. I really don't see the link. I am happy with my choice of voting in this referendum which doesn't necessarily match the recommendation of the political party I tend to vote for. I don't see that as a slight against the political leaders I align mostly with. In summary, the way people are voting in this referendum has little or nothing to do with following or rejecting party politics.
  10. Very busy at my polling station at 7:40 this evening. I've certainly never had a 10 minute queue at general elections. On the upside, it was a peaceful 10 minute wait whilst all those in the snaking queue were polite enough to discuss anything but the referendum.
  11. Cameron stated he would back leave if certain demands weren't met. Those demands were widely seen as only partially met or rather paltry, especially as we know the main issue for many is his failure to get anywhere near his aim of only double digit thousands in net migration to the UK. Having previously stated that he was ready to leave, apparently it will be catastrophic. Something doesn't add up.
  12. The vast majority of those I've spoken to accept that their 'leave' vote could cause short to medium term 'carnage' but is a price worth paying to avoid medium to long term 'carnage'.
  13. I suspect the same - 56% remain is my guess. Despite the current polls, the result will be a shock to many of my family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues. They all keep saying they only know one or two 'remainers'. The polls and bookies indicate there are more remainers, but certainly not in my circles. I worry about a post remain surge towards UKIP and that unfortunately Farage is on a 'win - win' whatever the result.
  14. Doug called you a "K-nob"?
  15. Welcome to our fabulous club, Tommy. From what I've read about you on VillaTalk, I will be disappointed if you turn out to be taller than Alan Wright's nipple level.
  16. Perhaps Wyness has been given 'the benefit of the doubt' as, from the look of him, it may be a while before he is declared 'fit'.

    Adama Traore

It may depend on what contract offers Traore receives from other clubs and/or his determination to be (not necessarily playing) at a 'top flight' club. When Adama came to Villa, his contract benefited from being an unproven Barcelona player. Now he's a recently relegated unproven squad player from one of the worst teams in Premier League history. Unless there's a manager out there that wants to take a large punt just based on pace, Adama's Villa pay might not be matched. I wish him luck, hopefully at Villa.
  18. Nothing to be gained by guesswork. Happy to see what pans out.
  19. The increased use of dash cameras has created a new con for the crash for cash criminals. They are moving away from unexpectedly braking hard to cause a rear end shunt to indicating and slowing to turn in to a side road before suddenly accelerating and continuing on the main road. A forward facing dash camera can be used to help prove that the rear end collision was 'engineered' by the car in front but is much less likely to show a vehicle from the side creating the deception leading to a side impact.
  20. I wouldn't ever claim to be a 'man on the bus' but I do know we train at Bodymoor Heath.
  21. I hope so, although players tend to leave the dirty work to their agents so it doesn't surprise me that when they had a call from their new manager, they were all 'yes Boss'. It doesn't mean RDM won't have a call or three from those same players agents in the forthcoming weeks - 'he needs to further his career elsewhere'.
  22. In fairness, Bournemouth would be able to offer more money than all but one team in France and I really can't see Veretout getting an offer from PSG just yet.
  23. I thought the website crashed for less than two hours, yet the extension is two days. In regard to the desire to include as many voters as possible, why wasn't the original deadline set to the latest possible date to administer the registration of voters? It clearly wasn't as they were able to extend it.
