  1. City stunk the final out as bad as we did in 2000. I dont think I could put it any worse than that.Abject, awful bilge of a peformance by a multi-million pound team. Useless drivel.Mancini is a gonna after that, the players certainly dont give a flucking puck about him. I bet they beat Arsenal now.
  2. City dont really look bothered do they? Feels more like a charity shield game. I am not that confident they will do the job and clearing in the woods Norwich on the last day of the season.
  3. I can just see bloody wigan nicking a late winner midweek. You cant trust Arsenal to do the job can you? Then it will be proper brown trousers time.
  4. I think today sums up where Villa are and the season in whole. At times we play some lovely stuff with the front 3 a real handful. Then a few sloppy laspes of concentration and we threw away our lead. Obviously the Bentenke sending off changed the game. We had the goal and man advantage and were looking for the killer 2nd, when it happened. I just knew we would lose after this. I will have to look it on TV before I make my mind up on it. I thought largely the midfield was superb today esp Delph, but they need to chip in with some goals. Westwood, who I really rate, had a good chance at the end to score. It was a tame shot, and then Chelsea got the winner by fat frank who knows how to put in the onion bag. We really need Arsenal to help us out midweek or I dont think I could take the Wigan game. Our forward play suggest no way we deserve to go down, but the table shows that we are still not safe. The petrov walk was very classy by the club and I wish him well for the future.
  5. I can see him off to a championship club like leeds for about 2 million this summer.
  6. I wouldnt treat that OS ground ticket map as gospel, but it should be at least 42,000 for this one. Really we should be looking to get 40,000+ on a semi-regular basis as a club, but I guess thats a different story altogether.
  7. Probably about 15-16th with 41 points. I would say honestly thats about where we deserve to finish at present- if we can work out how to defend and keep our players, which should probably be looking for upper mid table next season. My 100th post. Spiceworld.
  8. I personally think it was the QPR game. Obviously the wins v West Ham and Reading were huge, but QPR was a massive result. It affectively put them down and gave the whole team and crowd self-belief. That game really put the fans through the ringer. Totally outplayed in the first half but yet somehow levelled before half time. Played great stuff in the second, threw the lead away, scored again, and then the 8 longest minutes of injury time. They nearly scored right at the death as well. I think it showed that when the chips are really down, the villa fans are fantastic. We had 8,000 more than the previous home game and the atmosphere was incredible, it felt like a club finding itself again. It was truly epic and our form since then has been pretty decent. What a game.
  9. Its not a suprise but does anyone else think United are behaving like prats? Why the rush? They could take about 3 weeks over this, and still have the new manager well over a month before pre season starts.Obviously they want him to leave Everton now, whereas quite rightly they want him to see out the season. All the media coverage is so skewed to United, its ridiculous.
  10. All the best stan for your future health and retirement. I hope he stays in some role for Villa in the future. His battle with his disease has been stoic and diginified, two attributes I would put to him as a player. The hairs on my neck are standing to what will be a very special day on Saturday.
  11. No its a bit of a american thing isnt it? Whoever wears it again needs to be a throughly good egg like stan though.
  12. I think it will probably be Martinez. I guess next season will see how well Moyes did at the club. If they carry on as a top 8 club, and play better football then he did quite well. If they fall apart and drop to lower mid table, then I guess Moyes has made Everton punch well above their weight. To be frank Goodison is falling apart. When I went up a few yrs ago, the steward said that the Bullens stand may struggle to get its safety certificate in a few years time. Half the ground is over 75 years old. They make barely 800k per matchday, about a quarter of Man United. Liverpool will always be bigger than them in the city, and coupled with Man City cash, they are at best the 4th biggest team in the North West. Although they havent spent huge amounts, there are a lot of ageing players on good wages. Debt is increasing and there is no new owner coming along. There appears no chance of a new ground and revedevelopment of Goodison looks tricky. This could be a interesting few years for them.
  13. Thing is I dont there will ever be a 'clean break' with Ferguson as every new manager at Mold Trafford will turn their head, look upwards, and see in massive writing 'the sir alex ferguson stand'. No pressure! Moyes better not lose to Oxford United in his first game and spend 4 seasons next winning a trophy, or he will be in trouble!
  14. On another point, the whole O'Neill-will be the next United manager- hasnt quite worked out has it?! If he stayed with us and did a good job under a smaller budget that it might have happened if they are interested in moyes, MON is the older model really.
  15. What a massive gamble if Manyew go for Moyes. He has won nothing, nowt, zero trophies in 11 seasons at Everton, and come 4th once. Obviously it was a big ask for real success at Everton in modern football but really how good is he? I guess we will find out. He has very little experience in european football and the man is 50. Moyes will not be used to the media at all. He will be going from a run down club which isnt even the biggest in Liverpool to one of the top 3 or 4 clubs in the world. I will be suprised if he is appointed as the next manager. I cant wait to see if the house of united could fall down. I doubt it, but you never know.
  16. I dunno. I think really wigan had to win tonight. They have to play Arsenal straight after the FA cup final which they will be knackered from and probably lost. So if they lose or even draw to Arsenal they will be right up againist it. We are fairly decent away from home, and if they have to attack us to win, we could pick them off on the counter- if we are super relaxed and safe by then of course. The only team I reckon who could still go down are Norwich if they lose both matches to west brom and man city. Frankly I dont give a two bob bit to who goes down as long as it isnt us- which is very long odds now. Back of the net.
  17. Arent they going to give us the whole end now? I want to see Whelan crying and their (few) fans having the old cardboard 'we will be back' signs. Yeah right.
  18. Bye, bye wigan. Watch them plung down the leagues whence they came.18,000 in tonight in a massive game before the cup final. I just cant see Wigan getting better than a draw at a Arsenal side on good form. Thank you Swansea!
  19. Wigan are fairly shit and its about time Swansea put in a good peformance. Wigan rode their luck on saturday, and its going to run out tonight people. 1-3 to Swansea.
  20. Has to be near or a sell out for this one. The sun shines, we beat chelsea, everyone is happy. Wigan is then a away jollys. Then I wake up.
  21. Yep stoke are safe for me. Shame Sunderland got a point tonight, but I think really it boils down to if wonderful, wacky, wigan, beat swansea or not. We will be all be a lot more relaxed if swansea come off the beach and stuff em. Either that or Wigan will just keep on winning til the end of the season.
  22. I think the water carrier term is a bit harsh. I havent seen a midfield player with such awareness at Villa since Barry left. Yes he needs to improve his game but he has been excellent when you remember he was at League Two last season.
  23. Yes I would admit that I seriously thought about Lambert not being up to the job after that omishambles of the winter period. However it looks like thankfully its working itself out, but we are not safe yet. Lambert put a massive gamble on the future of the club over the signings he made, but it might be okay now. If we stay up, expectation will be higher next year. We need to defend and keep our players. If that happens I would expect a mid table spot. I would not be happy if we have another relegation struggle again- providing we are still in the prem.
  24. Umm sorry, if anyone cares he was in MOTD team of the day. I that case I feel we ought to pay Crewe more! What a great youth set up they have.
  25. I though we paid 2 mil for westy? If anyone cares he was in MOTD
