  1. Yes sorry got a bit carried away, forgot championship has another week to go. My bad. Still I fancy Wolves to go down. As much as I loved Deano the player, not sure of him as a manager.
  2. A desmond! Kiss my face. Wolves are down if anyone is interested.
  3. I am still clinging to hope that we can drag Norwich in it. They are largely cack. But they can defend.
  4. Might have to do something mad like beat Chelsea at home. Its getting to the hail mary stage now.
  5. TBH if any side loses 8-0 in a season they probably deserve to go down. Doesnt look good at present but we got to keep on fighting. And lambert to read a book about football defending.
  6. We are in a shit sandwich at present.
  7. I will love it if we beat Wigan and send them down. I am sorry but i dont buy all this Martinez love in. They are rubbish every year- its not a 'project'- its buying players on the cheap to try and survive for another season in the prem. Their ground is a dump. Whelan is possibly even more annoying than Doug. 8 years in the prem and their support is still shite- if they go down they would be getting 10,000 in the championship. A total non entity of a club with only pies and northern soul as possible reasons for their existence.
  8. Wigans alllocation is the biggest load of cack I have heard for a long time. They can dress it up as police reasons but its obvious that they are giving us just 3k as it could well be a premiership playoff match. I mean every half decent size club has had about a 5k allocation since they have got promoted so they must be used to it. If I remember Whelan tried at first to give the side stand to away sides of 8k allocation but he wasnt allowed to. Its not our fault that they have no support even nearly a decade into top flight football. He also moaned that he had to pay for policing around his poxy ground as well. Not happy with this.
  9. Up to 11 on hugeness. I am just looking forward to next season when each game is not such a stressful experience. We always look like a moment away from shooting ourselves in the foot, and even a 2 goal lead is nowhere near enough to feel comfortable for a win. But on the other hand if you compare our forward play this year to last year under McCluless its not contest.
  10. Annoying KO as it is (one of the reasons why I won't be renewing) Villa have put good deals on this. I have moved for free in the Trinity middle, so I can look down on the great unwashed in the Holte for a change. Its a huge game so anything less than 37,000 I would be disapointed with.
  11. Big fan of westwood but at the moment his major weakness is in not tracking back oppostion runners. Been caught out a fair few times doing this. But I really do rate him and I think he will get better next year. Seems an intelligent player and will take on good coaching to add to his game.
  12. Maybe its the sunny weather but I fancy us to draw v sunderland, beat norwich and beat a knackered chelsea. 41 pts thank you and good night! Mind you I have been mostly wrong on Villa's matches all season so probably best to ignore my ramblings.
  13. File under Berson, Bradley and Didier Agathe in a few years time of 'did they play for villa'? pub quizzes
  14. Yes Yewunited have probably been the biggest and therefore richest club in England since Busby, but the first the prem league and now champions league mean that Villa are miles and miles away from Man U. If you look at David Conn's excellent Guardian article, you will get the picture. Nearly £100 million alone in gate and matchday income in 2011-2012, and £ 104 mil in broadcasting dosh. Villa stats are £ 20 mil and £47 mil in comparsion. I mean they have just signed a £120 million deal for AON to sponsor their training ground for christs sake! For every title, for every year in the champions league, Aston Villa go further and further back- even though we come from the second city in England.
  15. A bit meh about tonights result. We all probably knew what was going to happen. I mean the website gave it the big 'we arent here to make up the numbers' but at present we are. United are not miles ahead of us, they are lightyears ahead of us. 1993 at start of 1st season of premier league- Villa 7 titles. United 7 titles. 2013- United 20. Villa 7. Lets move on to Sunderland, but can any of us see a clean sheet before the end of season?!
  16. Yep player of the year for me. Mind you for goal keepers often the reason they show their abilities is because the defence ahead of them is pis poor- which has been the case with us. Has done some brillant saves the season. Looks so more confident now he is number one, as previously his command of his area could be a bit flaky.I really think he has been one of the top 4 or 5 keepers in the prem this season- certainly miles better than head and shoulders number one, joe hart.
  17. For the good of football surely we must delay a scotch pensioner jumping up and down for a bit longer and relegate financially fair play FC QPR?
  18. Thing is with everyone winning, what will be the pts total to stay up? 40? 41? Even 42? Sunderland is looking like a game of epic importance. Win and we could dare to start planning for the future. If we lose then its brown trousers time.
  19. Since the baggies, Villa have mostly been excellent away. Its a tall order but if we could nick a point, it could be a major plus. We would be 4 pts ahead of Wigan with 4 to play, though they would have a game in hand.
  20. The 2 that stand out for me are the 6-4 Blackburn game and the 2-1 Ajax game. The Ajax game was so exicting and we all thought that this was the start of something, that Villa were back in the big time. I dont think I have had such a surge of exictement at a game when Laursen headed in the first goal since. The Ajax fans were bonkers as well. Sadly as usual for Villa it wasnt the start of something, it was the end of something. The Blackburn game was a epic as well- I was too young for the Tranmere game. From going from the emotions of 'thats it with have blown it' to getting to the final was nearly heart attack inducing. I mean even Heskey scored! Again it just felt that all those years of shit under Ellis- O'Leary, penny pinching, failure to make the final step, was all going to be washed away. But then we lost to Manyew and we had 3 years of decline since. So 2 great games but slighty bitter sweet memories. But isn't that t just football?
  21. When I think of Stoke for some reason the Spinal Tap quote of 'treading water in a sea of retarded sexuality and bad poetry' keeps on popping into my head.
  22. A poor mans james milner without the ability. Runs around a lot and thats about it. Terrible first touch and awareness. Get rid in the summer- someone in the championship or league one could have him.
  23. Pleased with Wigan result. I know we are all guilty of it, but perhaps as fans we look too much into other teams games. I think bascially it boils down to if we can beat both Sunderland and Norwich then we will be fine. Even 4 pts from those 2 will give us a good chance.
  24. Keep fighting stan. I think stan might say a few word at the Chelsea game, that would be awesome. I think a lot of fans would find a bit of grit in the eye. He has to stay with us in some role in the future. I guess his playing days are probably over, but only he can make that call. Same with the 19 min thing- if he wants it to stop, it should stop. But if he finds comfort in it, it should carry on. The main thing is that he keeps on getting better.
  25. Stick a fork in it, its dunne (his career)
