  1. Sauber have been unlucky in the past, I think that was just caution on the verge of an excellent finish, nothing conspiratorial involved I don't think. After last year when they had points taken off them at australia, perez' crash in monaco iirc when he was doing well ( can't remember ), not surprised, especially with conditions still having the slight threat of doom.
  2. Vettel's interviews when everythings not all hunky dorey, not doing much to dispel a "myth" that his arrogance is misunderstood. See vettel v button postgame for assessing a disappointing race. Such a bellend. Anyway, glad to see Alonso win, and great finish for Perez! Williams and Lotus really looking decent this year which is nice, Mercedes seem to really have problems in-race at the moment it seems, though it was crazy with conditions, but they just don't last. Better for Force India as well this weekend too.
  3. Come on Emile, you giant ogre, smash a hat-trick today
  4. agbonlahor, bent, dost and wiemann, not a bad foursome.

    Do you read?

Mark Billingham and his detective thorne books are decent. Bit of the rebus in him. Not quite as good as rankin imo but worth a look nonetheless.
  6. 6 points behind 8th, 8 points ahead of 17th. we could possibly finish anywhere. hell look at last seasons finale jump to 9th.
  7. the distance is too great, they may score the odd impressive win, but qpr won't get to play such hilarious teams like liverpool every week, whilst this week as an eg is blackburn v bolton, so points will be split one way or another, other games between themselves, plus us even with general pessimo hats on we ourselves are still likely to pick up at least a few more points anyway.
  8. So you don't think that people should generally be left the **** alone to do what they want? OoooKay. :? it depends on the level of intrusion. On stuff like, personal consumption habits, then ok, personal responsibility may be appealing and on control of your own body - especially for women in this respect then woo yay etc, but on a broader level its more complicated than just telling everyone to buzz off. You share a world locally and globally with a shit-tonne of other people. Unless you want to **** off to antarctica, there's a ncessary element of collective responsibility and engagement required for everyone to live side-by-side successfully anyway. I have no idea what particular type of libertarianism you're referring to though mind, so who knows!
  9. mmm, the republican congress and that boehner fellow just hate obama no end and seem to veto anything simply because its an obama plan, iirc, though im sure americans will correct my error, partly going off what american housemate tells me. Also republican attitudes to stuff like planned parenthood is so depressing. im ignoring this batshit insanity and currently hiding away watching The West Wing again. may go and read some al franken and michael moore too however Obama will win I think. There is a solid block who loathe him but i think there's enough of an independent section who whatever reservations they have over BO will acknowledge the terrifying insanity of the alternative. Even Barbara Bush condemned the Republican contest
  10. reminds me of the dylan moran sketch about attitudes to rich people doing all and sundry, like giving cocaine to hookers. " Well what else are you supposed to give them?! I've got a yoghurt! Do you want some? it's granola and everything!." they've got shitbombs of money, they're going to spend it on something, and will spend it, just because they've got the money to do so, they're idiots, but also human.
  11. I suppose, in the slightest of favours, scrambling around for something, they've been monumentally awful in getting thumped 5-0 twice in three matches, that it actually can't get any worse and they're only a couple of wins from pulling themselves out of it. Nah, dead meat, sadly.
  12. enjoyed the return! first half exciting, 2nd half gaveway to a usual end of race line out - but mclaren and red bull are on a more even keel from the start which is great news. Alonso is awesome, wish he was in a team who aren't idiots and could give him a title winning car. Last lap madness. not looking good for massa mercedes? - dunno. good quali and pace for a bit, but then two retirements. lotus: kimi was awesome, grosjean, own fault but qualied well so good news for another competitive team sauber: good stuff williams: gutted for maldonado, don't think senna is going to make it force india: looking a bit flat mebbe? last lap madness aside hrt - will they finish the season? I suspect not. edit: rather obvious caveat, only one race in so very much treat early thoughts with care! Oh and JB beating LH in a straight shoot-out! Will make that battle more interesting this year too!
  13. More or less this. I grew up in a rural community but since Uni have lived in an urban one for 8 years, I sometimes feel there's alot of politics of urbanites imposing their preferences on the rural world they have no idea of. Also part of me can't help it's a case of banning something based on the people who take part. I have no interest in it myself, but I am immediately skeptical of banning anything that doesn't need to be banned, and doing so only because one may not like the 'toffs' who do it, seems pretty poor to me. Of course those who dislike it don't couch it in a '**** the toff's' line of argument but it feels like an undercurrent of those who do oppose it. If people who oppose it are veggies too, then fair enough at least the position is consistent, but if you're a meatie and call to ban it, that strikes me as a bit off. Like I said, I couldn't give a shit, personally. I

    Do you read?

Just read Soldiers of Salamis by Javier Cercas, using fiction to examine people / moments at the end of the civil war. It's excellent. He fictionalises a version of himself researching a moment in the civil war when a real personality - a Falangist writer Sancho Mazas - escapes a firing squad and then in the woods is spied by another soldier and lets him go. Really good.
  15. Just read on BBC "Some news on Fabrice Muamba now, although it is not an update on his condition, which remains critical. It emerged today that paramedics could not get the 23-year-old's heart to start beating on its own for almost two hours after he suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the pitch during yesterday's FA Cup tie between Tottenham and Bolton."
  16. sunday evening, what now mode pretty much on. Woke early did some reading, popped to uni library to do some more before coming back to enjoy the F1 highlights for once not knowing what had happened ( 8) ). Then casually followed the football, did some tidying up, read another article slowly... now in that, do I go back and prepare a presentation I have to do tuesday morning ( 20min!! haven't done one that long ever ) or leave it until the morning? I think we all know the answer to that one In fairness I worked on it and worked on another class text yesterday - which wasn't easy here in cardiff what with invites to enjoy the welsh grand slam and st paddy's day. Have managed to remain sober throughout as it happens, although a minature Kilbeggan irish whiskey in front of me, may threaten the purity of that record soon enough I suspect.
  17. How much notice is needed to re-arrange a match? I would think maybe next FA Cup weekend assuming spurs beat them in a re-match beforehand.
  18. wolves so godawfully poor. That's one relegation spot sown up anyway.
  19. excellent news. long may he continue to get better
  20. Just watched Burn after Reading for the first time. Loved it. Just wonderfully bizarre. Although I'm bias. I have a man-crush on JK Simmons voice so like anything he does however small his role Come and See going on the lovefilm list now after those recommendations.
