Where did this Jay-Hart come from? I really liked the look of him but haven’t seen him before and am quite an avid follower of Villas younger teams. This was probably the strongest lineup I’ve seen for a while in our U23’s yet was still made up of mainly 16-19 year olds. I thought we played well but you can see why we don’t always found it easy as there is normally about 5 changes each game.

Decent backup and surely not expensive. Didn’t even see one rumour about him, we’re good at that.

He is our best and our worst player to watch. When on form though he can do things that nobody else is capable of.

I’ve always thought that we seem lost when he’s not in the team, his leadership is so important. Nice to see the stats to back it up.

Would be a lot more confident if the fat Spanish waiter was still in charge. Duncan will put the fire back in their (previously yellow) belly’s.

Interesting how he had his first game (of the Gerrard era) playing as an 8, which is where he normally played for the youth teams. Think it suites him much better as he is tanacious, a big lad to get around, has great passing but can also drive with the ball. I really hope he has a change of heart and decides to stay with us, for ours and his sake.

Massive props to Hause in that second half. When I saw he was coming on I was worried and convinced he’d gift them at least One chance but to his credit he had 55 touches and completed 96% of his passes, which also included a few long pingers to the left.

Can’t believe the amount of people over reacting to this result (although shouldn’t be). We were by far the better team and even though it wasn’t clicking in the final 3rd we still had plenty of chances. Buendia was superb after a dodgy first 20 minutes and I don’t see how people can get too upset about being much the better team and losing unfortunately to a good Brentford team. Only other disappointments were bringing Trez on (I assume for fitness) instead of El Ghazi and Mcginn getting a yellow to miss Man Utd. Brentford’s only real chances were goals.

I thought we were great today. Amazing to see us playing these great 1 touch triangles (that other teams do) that I didn’t know we were capable. Had a bit of a dodgy spell after Ings came on for Young (even though he’d been terrible). Great to see our youngsters playing so well. Very hard to pick a man of the match but thought Cash, Mcginn, Luiz, Ramsey and Buendia. Shout out to Watkins as well for his involvements too as he had 51 touches, which is almost unheard of for a striker and shows how involved he gets.

Yellow card just before half time and quite a bad one so didn’t risk him for second. Looked decent until then.

Many bigger teams have tried, and failed, to get Ten Hag so we have no chance, especially as they’re top of their Champs league group.

With the fact that he was sacked after a narrow defeat, and one in which the players really went for it and were unfortunate not to get a result, I’d like to think the board have someone lined up to have time with the team during the international break. I’m gutted he’s gone but my preference would be AVB of all the names mentioned.

What a superb display from the lads. Standouts being Bogarde, , Iroegbunam, Archer and Chuk. Archer with a lovely variety of finishes for another hat trick especially the final one in which he slightly chipped it up with right, with his first touch, and hammered into the goal with his left from the edge of the area.

I don’t think We played anywhere near to our capabilities today yet still only just lost by 1 goal (which was about right). There has been a massive overreaction to our defeat on here and all social media today but we have to remember Spurs are years ahead of us in their development and their team probably cost about four times as much as ours.

He seems to have a decent build on him already which will help massively at a higher level!

I think any backup keeper to Martinez would cost us points though as Martinez is top 10 in the world quality for me and anyone we could get as backup would be a massive downgrade.
