  1. C'mon get off the fence, it's nice on this side
  2. Salamander West Coast IPA 6.5% Tastes like beer should taste
  3. HAha, Gimme Shelter is hilarious and Baba O'Reilly, then they started with the B**tles, so I stopped
  4. Quite revolutionary really, the run of three albums from Seventeen Seconds through Faith to Pornography have influenced so many styles of music popular to this day and their effect isn't stated as highly as it should be. There's even an argument to say that Seventeen Seconds and Faith set the wheels in motion for that whole Post-Rock thing, there are large elements of that in some of the tunes. I kind of started to lose interest a bit after Pornography but I still rate the Pornography Tour gig at the Birmingham Odeon as one of my favourite pre-Liverpool gigs. The band hated them by all accounts, they weren't having a great time but that tension between the members just added to it for me.
  5. They have said the bomber died in the explosion as he was still in the vehicle
  6. Next up this by Mikkeller from Copenhagen Hallo Ich Bin Raspberry Berliner. 3.7% A raspberry flavored wheat beer. Strewth it's sharp, at least it proves I have functioning tastebuds and once my mouth has adjusted to the taste, the sharpness goes and it's ok, couldn't drink a bunch of them but every now and again, why not
  7. Depends if Dylan dies this year, I may be lenient if he does
  8. I'm not talking about all Hip Hop. I'm talking about the early Sugarhill output. They got their fingers burned over the samples used on Rapper's Delight after getting sued by Nile Rogers (Bassline from Chic's Good Times plus the scratching is the string arrangements from same tune). They used a house band after that, three of whom were Skip McDonals, Doug Wimbish and Keith LeBlanc who a few years later became the On-U Sound House band playing in such a wide variety of styles it beggars belief. I must have upwards of 50 different albums and singles of theirs
  9. As a complete aside, I probably own more records recorded by the musicians on White Lines than by any other artists, by a considerable distance. The Sugarhill Records house band shoud be talked about in the same tones as the MGs, Muscle Shoals and the Wrecking Crew
  10. So first one up tonight is Surfer, a wheat beer coming in at 4.8% I really don't think I’ve ever tasted a beer so lacking in... Taste. This is what taseless tastes like, you couldn't water this down, you'd be adding flavour. It actually looks like a very sick persons piss that has been left alone for a month but even that tastes of something. File under no tastebuds required
  11. Well at least the SAS won't be getting lost around there like they usually do
  12. One wonders how much longer NI will be part of the Union.
  13. Drummer on that was Mike Doherty who was also in Manc punk band the Smirks I think Radcliffe was the drummer in the Oh Blimey Big Band in the Frank Sidebottom years I keep meaning to watch that documentary, the only thing that puts me off is there might be some people I really don't like in it, well one in particular
  14. Ronald Atkins (longest living former MP) Leslie Phillips Dennis Skinner Gerd Muller Bob Dylan
  15. Yeah and what the Dutch get up to we call Gerbilling
  16. I've got a feeling it's one of those things that no-one really knows and it's just down to having to distinguish between the two Marks (well MArk and Marc) because it was only ever used in the context of their radio shows. I know for a fact it's a "stage name" thing as no-one who knows him calls him anything other than Marc
  17. No snow north of Liverpool but I believe they had some in the city, nowt to write home about but Liverpool actually having snow at all is a bit of a thing itself
  18. Considering the performance with ten men against Palce two days ago, I think that was a fantastic result. We were lacking a little spark but games that close together and being down to ten men in the first game will do that to a team Great rsult. McGinn was MOTM for me such a workhorse at both ends of the pitch
  19. This and other bits were on CH5 last night. Did anyone know Michael Gove did stand-up comedy? Well attempted it at least. Possibly the worst stand-up ever. There's more where this came from
  20. Maverick hazy APA by Browar Rockmill Lemony session drinker. 4.7% Like this one
  21. So Pan Ipani Double by Trzech Kumpli Double Wheat IPA weighing in at a hefty 7% Slightly bitter with slight notes of oranges I like the taste but it may be a tad on the strong side for my taste
  22. What a ballache this single has been. A fun tune by the Freshies (Chris Sievey before Frank Sidebottom). There are various different versions, There's the original on Razz Records, promos and the versions that say and sing Virgin Megastore, then the versions that say certain megastore as Virgin complained. Yada Yada. None of them are my version. My version has the labels of one version but plays the other (Labels say Virgin, vinyl plays Certain) so I'm now having to add a mislabelled version to Discogs which is an absolute ballache because the Master version is the original on Razz records, so nearly everything needs changing. Grrr! Great fun tune of it's time though
