  1. On present form, I think neither is actually good enough. Therein lies the dilemma.
  2. Clark has been excellent, probably POTS, and way better than Okore.
  3. Was there anyone in that team yesterday that was not hopeless? If there was, I cannot remember them. High line did not help either.
  4. But has been a better partnership than any other for us, and I think have done well against a variety of attackers this year.
  5. I agree with this. I think Baker would have handled Pelle better yesterday. I have a little idea that Vlaar and Okore might have been carrying knocks. They certainly played like it. Baker and Okore are the future. Clark? Easily our best defender.
  6. I find it interesting how long it took Lambert to start getting serious criticism and how quickly some want to give it to Sherwood. I think Sherwood made mistakes today, luckily it didn't matter. The interesting thing (and something we should all look for) is how the team reacts next week. Yes it is a nothing game, but in a way that makes it even more important to see how they react. Under the previous manager, we'd go on really awful runs where we would lose a lot of games and play really poorly. So, all eyes on next week. Not sure the Burnley match will tell us much. I think he will rest players.
  7. We were dead and buried. Sherwood has kept us up; that is what he was brought in to do. Great achievement. Hopefully onwards and upwards now. But what a day. From the dejection of a thorough thrashing, to the elation of guaranteeing staying up.
  8. Yeah, that is just paper talk. Let's wait and see.
  9. It was obviously not a must win game, as in spite of our loss, we can still avoid relegation, no matter what happens with the other results today. I never said that if we lose then we wouldn't be able to avoid relegation. Of course a game that if you win guarantees your safety then it's a must win. Not if you have other chances to guarantee your safety.

  11. I would be convinced it is not one miss kick. He has looked unsure and unsteady this season and certainly not at the standard he has been at in previous seasons. Still a good keeper, but with Given also not as good as he was, I can see why Sherwood would be looking at other options.
  12. Ron Atkinson probably. John Gregory possibly to a lesser extent.
  13. http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/aston-villa/9850028/sherwood-confident-on-villa-ownership He really is quite a character !!
  14. Reilly? apart from his transfer dealings. Reilly? I think the way it works is Reilly was responsible for all the good signings, and Lambert for all the bad ones I'm sure Lambert must have had final say on the signings. Other managers get credit/slated for their signings, I don't see why we'd have to make an exception with lambert just because it might reflect slightly positively on him. Nope. Just trying to point out that a good scout plays a large part in signings.
  15. Edit: this might be old news Well, there are only two league games left, not three as he says, so a bit confusing. Anyway, I guess the message is the same, no decision at this point.
  16. Reilly? apart from his transfer dealings. Reilly?
  17. Right back, we've got Hutton? Yes, I know, Bacuna and Hutton are both good in their own way, but I think we still need someone better. Not as badly as we need a left back obviously.
  18. The other two bids seem to me to be old news. Very little strong evidence that I can see to indicate any bids are ongoing. I am cool about the whole thing anyway, I do not mind things progressing as they are at the moment under Lerner.
  19. I am not sure he is any better than Richardson for that left back spot. That is the area we definitely need to buy for, probably right back too. I like Bacuna, but I think it would make a big difference to the team to strengthen in those two areas.
  20. If we can keep this squad together with a few additions, together with Fox, Reilly and Sherwood, I see no reason why we could not finish 6th.
  21. Apropos B above - the way the media are creaming over him, we probably will not be able to keep him for long anyway.
  22. Two reasons I would like him to play for Ireland. A. See my location. B. We will keep him longer.
